Fast service. Pretty quite. Sushi was mediocre. My friend and I went for the first time and all the sushi came out at once. But we ordered quail egg shooters. Never got them. Out of the six we tried to order. We got one. Which was extremely salty. I ordered salmon eggs, and the ones we got were extremely slimy. And warm. I couldn't finish, and usually I love them. Went on a Sunday afternoon and got seated right away. The food came out fast however we were quickly disappointed. The roles were very underwhelming and lacked flavor. They were also rolled terribly so every time I picked something up it fell all over. We ordered the Philadelphia, the rainbow, and the golden gate rolls. The only one we enjoyed and were able to finish was the Philadelphia. This restaurants saving grace was the freshness of their fish and their nigiri. Came here with my family and you absolutely cannot beat the price for all you can eat! Food was awesome. I'm from Seattle so I'm a harsh judge of seafood, and this place exceeded my expectations. The only problem is that this hidden gem isn't so secret and the tables here are crammed together and I'm told the wait for one can get pretty long. The wait for some of our dishes was a bit longer than usual as well. I ordered a scoop of green tea ice cream for dessert, and waited 10-15 minutes for it to come out. YES! My kid and I have been long time fans of the original location, so imagine our excitement when we saw that we were getting a Hiroba on our side of town! My daughter and I actually stopped by 3 times before they were opening (hoping they were open) because we just couldn't calm the heck down over it. Long story short - this location did NOT disappoint! The sushi is just as amazing as the original location and the staff has the same, warm greeting when you enter. Fantastic!! We sat at the bar and instantly the owner (same owner of the original Hiroba) began making us his special roll, one after the next. We didn't need to look at a menu and everything was incredible. I HIGHLY recommend doing this. Each chef has their own creative rolls which makes the whole experience that much more fun. read more

I came in on a Sunday with four other people. We were excited for the sushi but was quickly let down. They couldn't have sat us down in a tighter spot. Immediately we noticed the staff was inattentive. We finally got our orders in. My friend doesn't care for the hot sauce so she put "no hot" next to every roll she marked down to order. Next our orders came in a timely manner surprisingly. They had put hot sauce on all the rolls which we didn't even want. They also gave us duplicates of our orders which we couldn't eat. My friend couldn't eat anything because of the hot sauce and the staff could not care less. We were very angry and we won't be back. read more

Good AYCE. Table service seemed faster than other AYCE places. Rolls are about the same as everywhere else, but all were good. One thing I've noticed that is trending is AYCE places will charge for any leftovers. For example this place says it will charge 50cents a piece for leftovers. Another place says it will charge for the whole roll. Hasn't happened to me personally but it's stated right on the menu. Sometimes you get a roll and it's just no good to you so does that mean you have to pay for it if you don't finish it?? That would be lame. Hope these places aren't serious about that. read more

If you're from Reno, you know about Hiroba sushi even though their then only location is very much hidden from the city. Their customer service is exceptional and it's always fun to be greeted by everyone who's working when you walk in and get thanked when you leave. Being the only sushi place, as far as I know, that offers uni, we would go here quite often but the place is so far from us and it gets super busy. Their new location allows folks from Sparks to get their sushi while avoiding the long drive and wait. read more

First visit was awesome. Not too busy, prompt service and the food was delicious. Second visit wasnt nearly s good. I'm not sure if the soda machine was down, but they switched from found tain soda to canned soda. I refuse to go back if they continue to charge for canned soda. The sushi was also sloppy, depending on who made it. The gentleman in our area did a great job, his rolls we're tight and full. The guy in the center, way too impatient and sloppy. Let me start out by saying that I'm fat so I really know what good, great, and extraordinary food is and this place is extraordinary. The service is prompt and the food is exquisite. This is the best sushi restaurant that I have ever been to. The fish is fresh and the flavors are phenomenal. They offer a lunch all you can eat for 20 bucks and let me you that it is well worth it. Not sure if I came on a off- day, but I wasn't impressed. Maybe it was all the hype about how great this place was and them not delivering on my expectation of that. Don't get me wrong, the staff was friendly and always willing to help, but I just wasn't impressed by their sushi. The fish slices were very thin and it didn't taste as fresh as I would of liked. I thought some of their rolls were good, but not the best. Everything had crab on it and it made everything taste the same, so maybe some variety to the taste of the sushi could help, and the rolls were not well constructed. I picked up a piece and it fell apart. I'd be willing to try this place again in the case that this day might of been a fluke, but as of now, it was mediocre at best. read more

Had to wait 40 minutes at another place down the street. Decided to look around for another sushi spot and this place popped up... so glad that it did! As a Sparks resident, I'm really glad to have more sushi options closer by. First time at this Hiroba, the sushi was pretty good and tasted fresh. Their customer service was excellent, we'd get 2 or 3 servers at the time asking if we needed anything. Can't say the same thing about the other Hiroba, with their hour long wait and so on... I can't get enough of this sushi place! The fish is always great and so is the service! Appetizers are tasty by far my favorite mussels out of the 6 or so sushi places I've tried in the Reno/Sparks area. My husband loves getting nigiri extra spicy, they never fail him. It's not often that I find myself updating my review for what has been one of my favorite sushi establishments in Reno. There was 4 of us, so we opted to sit at a table instead of the bar. The service was incredibly fast for table services especially on a Friday night. Here's the issue we encountered tonight and what prompted the updated review. - my daughter pointed out to me what was 100% confirmed as a bug, a large ant type creature, that was deep-fried attached to her pot sticker. We poked it to see if it was alive, dead, or deep-fried dead. It was crispy and stuck to pot sticker. I brought it to the attention of the staff and she grabbed it, looked at it and said she was sorry and walked away. We were later compensated with $3 in beverages for the inconvenience. I understand things happen but I was incredibly disappointed by how it was handled and blown off as no big deal. It was pretty disgusting and frankly ruined our dinner, despite the fact that we ate. We continued to eat because...well...we had been planning this sushi date all week... and we were hangry. Ain't nobody got time for a hangry fam so we just didnt talk about it until we finished eating... Here's the deal, I didnt expect a free meal or anything free in fact. What I did want was for them to acknowledge it as an issue and not just blow it under the rug. We were not offered replacement food and other than a generic 'oh sorry bout that' as she walked off, it wasnt discussed.... until I asked in a conversation manner if she let the kitchen staff know. She said "yes I did" as she walked away with our check. Then she came back a $3 discount for the inconvenience. Additionally, some of our fish still had scales/skin attached. Pieces that should not have had skin. This truly was just a terrible experience. I'm leaving a 3 star because of the regular repeat good experiences we have had in the past. But I expect a local business that I patronize regularly to acknowledge their issue, and give me a genuine apology from someone that gives a damn about us spending $120 on dinner at your establishment. read more

I love their sushi, love their service and the fact that they are offering pick up services during COVID. They are one of the few business who chose to stop indoor dining while the pandemic spiked again. I respect that. I arrived very happy to pick up my sushi when I noticed a sign that read all online orders or takeout orders (unsure of the exact wording) were eligible for 20% off. When I asked about my 20% they said that Yelp orders didn't apply. :( I was obviously very sad and discouraged by that because I thought I was being thoughtful by using Yelp to order. But because of that I didn't benefit from the 20% discount. I will still go there but now I will call ahead and ask about discounts. read more

Went here for lunch today to celebrate boo's birthday. Fish was good, service was great, rolls were good! I can honestly say I like them better now than when they were located on Skyline! We had lots of nigiri salmon, albacore, mussels and cucumber salad, and the golden gate roll and macho roll. Golden gate was crystal shrimp, crab, cucumber, and salmon, macho was crystal shrimp, jalapeño, cream cheese, and maybe crab too. I will definitely be back! read more
