I have been to several sushi restaurants around town and as a going away dinner for my friend, he chose this spot. We entered and were greeted immediately by a waiter, we found our party had already gotten a table so we were able to sit down, the restaurant wasn't particularly busy for a Thursday night. For the party of 6, they gave us 1 menu, the AYCE menu was 2 pieces of paper with a front and back side. It was a little difficult to order considering we had to keep passing the menu around and figure out the amounts we wanted when ordering for AYCE. After ordering our food, we had to catch one of the servers to place a drink order, which felt taxing. We were served our drinks and appetizers very quickly, however our nigiri orders seem to be slowed and not everything we ordered arrived. The fish was very good, which is something you hope for in a sushi restaurant, the rice was portioned well (not big logs) although it was not sticky enough and would crumble when trying to pick up with chopsticks. I really appreciate the diligence of the staff, you could tell they were working hard to ensure our waters were refilled, bring out our orders and were patient when reminded what we were still waiting on and what we ordered. I think if we weren't doing AYCE, it would be a easier experience. read more

Although the food was good- the service was interesting. We were expecting to enjoy our meals together but my parents were served 20 minutes before us and we just sat and watched them eat their food until our food finally came. My parents ordered individual hand rolls and my husband, kids and I ordered all you can eat. I thought the crunch roll was amazing and the eel sauce to pair it with made it so much better. My mom ordered a California roll though and we thought it tasted store bought but then when we ordered ours it was made fresh. When we asked why they tasted so different our server was kind but said each chef prepares rolls differently. The sushi was tasty, the service was amicable and the ambiance although a bit drab for my taste was alright. We had some all you can eat of course since this is Reno! I will say I am not a person who enjoys tuna in any case the texture is always weird to me regardless of its spicy or not I can deal with the whole piece of tuna but not when it's chopped. With that disclaimer out of the way the sushi was delicious different from other spots for sure, and even tho I believe this sushi place has been around for a while it does not feel that they have really found what sushi they wish to be defined by... other than that I did appreciate that the mussels were not in their shells when served a different take on the usual appetizers. Been coming here a few years. The main reason is they have bento boxes and have better tempura then most places in Reno. Hard to believe but Reno restaurants in our opinion are way over rated. Over priced and the food is not up to par especially for what's charged. I think it's the Californians coming for the casinos and festivals each month they keep them alive. Best time to come here for us is middle of the week at 3pm. Too crowded, wait times for sushi quality changes as well. Our friends wanted to come here because they have AYCE sushi but offer more non-shellfish options than most other sushi places in town. One of the party members likes sushi but is allergic to shellfish. No complaints from anyone at the table for their sushi orders. I don't care for sushi, so I went with the pork katsu and gyozas which was surprisingly good. It was cooked perfectly and the amount of crispy breading was over the top. The only place in Reno with albacore nigiri! They cut their fish more than anywhere else I've seen here and the fish is as fresh as I've had so far from the ocean! Our server, Christina, is the best. Popped in here on the way home to grab a roll and some quail egg shots. They were about 30 min from close and I didn't want to loiter but the staff was very friendly and accommodating and my server kept company with me while I ate, can't remember her name but super warm and gracious and shared a quail egg recipe with me as I downed my meal. I went to Sushi 7 last night with my husband and it is hands down my favorite restaurant in Reno. We just moved here and were sad to leave our favorite sushi restaurants in SF, but we were so pleasantly surprised by such a hidden gem. The fish is extremely fresh, the service was incredible, and every single item we ate was genuinely amazing. I will have to force myself to not come and eat here every night as I don't think anything else in Reno will compare. Some standout dishes: Yakitan (think crab rangoon but better with their homemade sauce), Mussels, Tiger Roll, Snow Mountain Roll, Skyline Roll, and Fried Banana Ice Cream. We also had sashimi that was quite excellent. The vibe of the place was lowkey but inviting and welcoming, which is exactly what I want to experience in a restaurant. The service was great, our server greeted us, and brought us everything we asked for quickly. The restaurant itself is nice, open floor plan, clean bathrooms. The sushi was just OK for me though. I love nigiri and felt that the ratio of rice to fish was not great. The rice balls were quite big, while the fish was very thin. Compared to other sushi places in town, this is 3 star nigiri. The service was speedy and attentive, probably the quickest rolls have been served to me before and they all came out at the same time which was nice and a rarity considering one was deep fried. Monday-Thursday you get free sake with your ACYE purchase which was definitely a nice bonus I wasn't expecting. But appetizers are not included on the AYCE menu and in comparison to other local sushi restaurants the selection is pretty limited. And the fact that the removed the muscles from the shell for me and delivered them in these cute little cups that was awesome. The menu felt small but I am sure it wasn't really. The reason for the two stars was one of the servers. The woman who sat us in her lay 30s early 40s was wearing a mask and I was like this is great to see Bc well we are still in the pandemic. This is where the great ended. I was there with my girlfriend who happens to be a poc. My girlfriend was flat out ignored by this server repeatedly. The woman would only look at me and would not speak at all to my girlfriend, even when I deferred to her to make our appetizer choices. The woman revisited our table a few times only acknowledging me before it seems our server was swapped out.
