I can see why this restaurant has only 3.5 stars. As soon as we walked in, the cashier insisted that we dine in and be seated. The same woman was also our waitress, and it was obvious she was trying to do everything herself. She was waiting on about six tables while constantly yelling at the sushi chefs, the kitchen staff, and another employee. Unfortunately, she brought that same loud, frantic energy to every interaction with customers, which made for a very unpleasant dining experience. The food was disappointing. It lacked flavor, and the menu felt like it was trying to do too much. Being both a sushi bar and a hibachi restaurant seemed to hurt the overall quality. Two of us ordered the all-you-can-eat option, which ended up being a big mistake. Between the bland food and the slow service, we lost our appetites before we could really enjoy the meal. One final warning: check your bill carefully. We were a party of four, but we were automatically charged gratuity even though the menu states that gratuity is only added for parties of six or more. Teriyaki steak was good with the teriyaki sauce but the steak could have used some more flavoring. My meal also came with steamed rice and miso soup which was including in the pricing. Came in for an early birthday dinner. We had AYCE and were able to sample a few roles. The volcano roll was our favorite as well as the unagi. Came in for dinner on a Friday and found it surprisingly not busy. The inside is bigger than I expected. It's spacious enough for big groups. When I walked in the employees seemed bothered by me walking in. They continued to talk for a few minutes before acknowledging that I was there. When asked if I wanted to order I asked yes and to see the menu as I had never visited this location before. I went here with my family and it was horrible. The sushi was very bad, it did not have any taste and was very bland. The only thing that tasted decently good is the salmon roll, but what really disgusted me was the kissho roll they said it had there special sauce on it but it tasted like ketchup and cocktail sauce. My daughter and I went for the first time today. Wanted to try a different sushi spot. We ordered 3 orders of nigiri, 2 crystal shrimp rolls, the kissho roll and the spicy girl. Neither of us liked the nigiri (it was fishy) or the spicy girl (the inside tasted weird) The kissho was the best one and the crystal shrimp rolls came in second. Not worth the price. The sushi was mediocre and the variety was not so great. The best was the sake nigiri!! It was super light and fresh. The service was absolutely great, they attended to our every request expeditiously. I was super shocked at the hibachi plate for the low price of $28.00 with shrimp and lobster. I wasn't even feeling sushi but my wife chose our dinner destination and she chose this restaurant. I was absolutely pleasantly surprised. Everything from the food to the service was outstanding. My wife ordered California roll and the spicy shrimp roll, I ordered the spicy tuna and the chicken teriyaki meal and it was all very very good. Fast and friendly service. If I could leave a no star review I would. I came in here this past weekend, from the start of our visit we were treated poorly from the staff. No welcome, no smiles they were extremely rude and unfriendly. We Ordered lots of sushi rolls, some were decent but once we got to the tuna and salmon, wow.... How fowl tasting it was. We ended up leaving half of our food and getting sick afterwards. This place was terrible, the staff was even worse than the food. When we went up to pay they proceeded to look at our table and yell at each other in their own language which of course we couldn't understand. Didn't mind this place ... until we came in for Father's Day and they charged more than they normally do for Lunch AND for dinner. Not sure if maybe they are struggling as a business or if they really thought it was a great idea as their location is located in Legends mall, and especially during Rodeo/Graduation weekend, but they charged for "Father's Day" $31.95 for their all you can eat. This is not the most high end sushi or is it Korean BBQ, which normally most Korean BBQ places charge $30+ for rightfully so, average price, ESPECIALLY in Reno, NV. I understand with prices of fish and other rises of prices of ingredients, but it is odd and to be honest... kind of scammy for a place that's not the best sushi in Reno to charge $31.95 for a holiday when normally their prices range from $18 (lunch) - $30 (dinner). They did also, try to offer with making a sushi "chef special" to make up for me saying something about how their up charging, but honestly... we just wanted to get the rolls we usually get and eat as much as we can. We did also ask about doing tempura banana, which I swore they had at one point but then they said it was not included in their all you can eat... again really weird especially if they are up charging the regular DINNER price for a "holiday". PLUS... we ordered quail egg shooters, and it had a really odd taste to it and seriously not a very good quail shooter... We still ended up paying the price as this is where my husband wanted to go. With that said, honestly anybody whether you are traveling and shopping at Legends or you are a local, be careful on how you spend your money at places like these, it would of been way more worth it to spend at Hiroba down that street which makes personally in my opinion...has better sushi. read more

First off, we were homesick for some good hibachi meals. We lived in SE Texas up until a year ago and our restaurant scene here was minimal to what we were used too. Very homey feeling with the drape covered windows. If I had 1 input, when you have someone loud sitting right behind you, the sound carries big time. But that's not the restaurants fault that someone was just rude. Called respect people. The food.. We started with the tuna titaki and a 2 piece eel sushi. The tuna in the titaki was cut so great. Nice large pieces, very tender, sauce had great flavor with I believe were carrot straws or curls. Yes I ate on those too lol The eel sushi. OMG I went to heaven on this one. Perfect sized pieces of eel. Rice was perfect.. The yummy tenderness of eel is like no other sushi. We each got a hibachi meal for our main. It comes with soup, salad, veggies, fried or white rice and your choice of portion or veggie option. We had 1 clear soup, 1 miso soup The acutrrimants for the sushi and plates. I had the chicken and shrimp and hubby had double shrimp. The flavors of the sauce were very delicious. Fried rice was perfect, as well the veggies and the cook on them. It was a really great meal. I came here with my boyfriend on a very snowy day, so there were no customers when we entered. We were quickly greeted and seated by a staff. We were given menus and ordered drinks. They have the paper to mark what you want which I love because it makes everything run more smoothly. For appetizers, we ordered shumai, miso soup, mussels, and a peanut mango avocado salad. The shumai was average (kind of bland), the miso soup was flavorful, the mussels tasted like it was heated up in the microwave, and the peanut mango avocado salad was good (flavors are mixed with sweet and sour). As for the sushi, we ordered almost every type of the nigiri and tried the kissho roll. The tuna nigiris were really good, however, my favorite yellowtail did not taste as good as other places. The salmon was average. There are a lot of other items on the menu if you do not eat sushi or raw food like noodles and rice dishes. All the food came out quickly even though there were two other tables by the time we left. The interior design looked a lot nicer than I expected from the outside. Everything was clean and new. Decent food in the Legends mall. I got the hibachi steak meal and I enjoyed it. The steak was soft and didn't hurt my jaw when I was biting into it. The veggies were a little soggy but that could be the use of the sauce. My friends got an array of sushi and they said they enjoyed it. There weren't any complaints about the taste of the sushi so that's good! Service was fine, my friend accidentally knocked over her water and they were great about providing us additional napkins and a rag to clean up the spill. The restaurant was popping considering the weather was raining and preparing for a snow storm. My sushi experience was okay, there was too much rice and thinner pieces of fish than I'm used to. Service was a little slow to start. My hubby and I showed up with our appetites and were thrilled to see only one other table that looked to be finishing up. My hubby was on his lunch, so we were on a time crunch. First off the restaurant is cute and clean, and the service is not bad but not anything fantastic. I am mostly writing a review because the sushi rolls are just not good. We tried 3 different rolls, all were just okay but the flavor was almost bland. We had nigiri as well and couldn't go wrong there, the quality of the fish is good. We ordered Donald Ducks and all they were was salmon on rice with Kani and dot of sriracha, no avocado no lemon. We also ordered some quail egg shooters and joked that they tasted a bit like alcohol. After reading a few other reviews I saw one that said they were told after ordering their shooters that they contained sake. No one told us this and I'm a bit taken back that they are serving alcohol in something that doesn't typically contain alcohol and not being explicit about it. I really like there being a sushi place in this location. We've been here three times with it being convenient outside of the mall but each time the rolls were worse than the last. I'm hoping they figure out their rolls and it could be a good spot! read more

Finally, a sushi restaurant in Sparks with a Chirashi Bowl! Having celiac means that sushi places have a high risk off cross contamination, but Kissho always goes above and beyond to make sure my food stays gluten free. The service is always friendly, and generally prompt. The ambiance isn't the best. The benches aren't very comfortable and they use a lot of fake flowers in their decor which attract dust, but the food has been consistently good. I give them 4 stars because the prices are a bit high for all you can eat in the area, particularly given that the location is on the perimeter of the Legends Mall. Also, the plated options like the Chirashi Bowl are on their to go menu but not on the menu you receive when you sit down so I always have to ask if it is still offered. All in all, a solid local choice for gluten free sushi dining. read more

Best sushi I have had in Reno. Our friend who does not eat fish got a noodle plate on a hot cast iron, which was delicious and well portioned. Virtually every thing was bad , cheaply made , and not fresh . Definitely not a typical sushi restaurant as the items are plain , simple, repetitive. Non imagination or innovative. The salmon nigiri is served without lemon slices, the rolls don't have tobiko. And the fish is stringy , slimy,and tough , Ambiance is old ugly drapes and a drab decor . Service was ok however, we didn't get all the items we ordered, and received only 1 order of several items we had requested 2 . I have heard a lot of mixed reviews about Kissho Sushi but I have never had a bad experience here! First off, they have the most interesting rolls in town, not your typical rolls, but don't knock it until you try it! I usually have my go to rolls but at Kissho, I like to try everything! My nigiri has always had a good fish to rice ratio, not overly packed with rice and the fish has always been fresh. The rolls are plated really nicely when they come out, and you can see that there is more filling than rice! These pieces are the perfect size and the flavor combinations are amazing! All you can eat or individual menu is available. It is a little pricey for the all you can eat at $26.00 per person, but there is good variety. My only cons are - only one small dessert per person not all you can eat. Also, they don't have Kanu salad. It is a stick of imitation crab meat on a bed of rice. Other than that, the food was good. Sushi I had was delicious! The staff were friendly, but it was a little slow business wise. The staff and waiters were all sitting around behind the counters on their cell phones and FaceTiming. I understand that it was slow, but it just looks unprofessional on their part if they're not engaging with the customers and FaceTiming and texting the whole time. Stopped by this restaurant for the all you can eat sushi lunch. Service was very rude. A $60 lunch turned into a $90 lunch due to a few pieces of sushi being left. They charged another $30 for that.
