First time here....I was out exploring and found it. Had the lunch buffet and it was absolutely amazing! If you want home a cooked meal with high end ingredients, this is the real deal! This is our favorite lunch buffet! The salad bar can easily be a meal itself with delicious house made dressings. The hot bar usually had fried chicken and a type of fish along with pork BBQ. The selection of desserts is vast and all are quite good . The German chocolate cake was the best I've had since my mom made it for my birthdays years ago. Off the chart icing! The service is super with plenty of refills on tea. We would eat here several times a week if we lived closer. We plan our trips around stopping here for lunch! read more

I've been told about their chocolate chess pie. We decided to drive down from Chesapeake to check it out. It was better than expected. Service was excellent. Buffet had everything. The pie was awesome!! Ask to have it warmed up. We can't wait to go back. read more

Was recommended by hotel staff when I asked for a local place with barbecue. No barbecue on dinner menu. I went with the closest I could find - a cup of chili, Mac N Cheese, and loaded mashed potato. Chili was great, unfortunately service was a little slow and waitress "assumed" I wanted the items one by one not all together (they were all side items). So I had two glasses of wine while waiting and left a little buzzed. I sat on the porch swing outside watching the many hummingbirds visit their feeders until I felt ok enough to drive. All in all not bad. Free wifi access if you ask for the password. Friendly locals. Dining room was kept dark, I am not that old but could barely read menu. read more

Good food, fair prices, but time it right or this place is a zoo for lunch. I didn't know eastern north carolina had so many police officers, but they all show up here at 11:30 for lunch. The salad bar, greens, butter beans and fried chicken are great. Friday is seafood lunch buffet, I can take it or leave it. The staff has always been very nice. Had dinner here last night and was pleasantly surprised. Service was fast and very friendly. The thing that stood out most was that nearly all of the wait staff ( not just our waitress) stopped by to ask if we needed anything. They genuinely seemed interested in serving their guests. The food was also good. DW had sirloin tips with baked sweet potato and I had the western chicken dish. Both were cooked properly. The chicken breast was moist and tender. No room for desert but I'm sure it was good as well. I would recommend this place to a friend and would stop in again if in the area. Good job! read more

Had the pleasure of dining at this restaurant last Tuesday night. I thought they were busy for it being in such a small town on a week night. I ordered the pasta special and it was great. A large portion and I got the house salad. From the time you walked in the door the hostess and waitress made you feel like you were a regular customer. Tea glass was never empty and did not have to wait long for the food. Husband got seafood and it was fried perfectly. He said it was the best fried oysters he had ever had. We both had large dinner rolls that would melt in your mouth. Husband would have preferred hushpuppies with seafood but he enjoyed the rolls too. Restaurant was recommended by motel and we were not disappointed. Great service, food and the prices were very reasonable. We will dine there again. read more

On 7/2/2012 I placed a "To Go" order: (1) "End of the Trail" Salad with Chicken Breast for my husband and (1) Sirloin Beef Tips with Peppers and Onions (medium), Sautéed Vegetables and Green Beans (Sidekicks) for me. The total was $22.45 (way too much money). It was one of the worse meals I have ever tried to eat. The vegetables for the salad were fresh. However, the chicken was completely dry and had no seasoning or flavor at all. The sirloin tips were supposed to be cooked medium. They were dry and crumbled in your mouth as soon as you chewed. The sirloin tips (not sure what cut) had no seasoning or flavor at all and the onions and peppers were overcooked. The meal was consistently AWFUL including the sidekick vegetables. Everything was trashed except for the salad. I have been to their lunch buffet and remember leaving unimpressed. But after last night, I am NOT planning to return. I cannot believe that a Chef/Cook let this food leave the kitchen. The only positive comment I can think of is that the hostess was very friendly and helpful. However, I would not recommend this restaurant unless there are positive changes made. read more
