That said, Union Visuals handled the situation very well and immediately replaced the photographer. They also had no problem complying with COVID protocols. As far as the photography itself, Oleg was our photographer and you could tell he was trying hard to do a good job. He showed up early to set up and did not charge us for that time. The pictures came out great and he and his assistant were very personable and easy to work with. He provided us a USB stick with our video and photographs on the timetable he provided at the beginning of our agreement. We had a pleasant experience and would recommend him!

For the engagement photos, this was back in November 2023. She was already there when we arrived. Zach and I both felt so awkward and nervous since this was our first photo shoot, but Anna worked her magic and did her best to help us relax for the entire session. She's also a dog person so I was overjoyed that our dog was able to join us in these photos. After we saw the amazing engagement photos, I knew I had to secure her for our wedding day. Her response time is great as well; she will let you know when she is out of town and how long/when to expect a response from her. Our wedding was in mid-July 2024. Anna was there early again to scope out the wedding venue and checked in with both Zach and I the entire event. When I was having trouble walking in my dress, she was quick on her feet to help me. We had a long list of photos we wanted with family and she was able to organize everyone in a timely fashion. Working with David and Annie for our proposal photos was a breeze. Even though I initially didn't…read morehave a super solid idea of where and when I wanted to do the proposal, David was very helpful in suggesting different locations for different times of the day while providing examples. His communication was clear and responsive, and he was very patient with me no matter how many emails it took! Staging the surprise was actually a lot simpler than I expected--they ask you for some basic information as to how you're planning to do it. On the day of, I was nervous if things were going to fall into place, but Annie, our photographer, shared her location with me and arrived early in just the spot I wanted. She was also wonderful to work with--her photography and editing skills are great and even though we never really posed for photos before, she made it easy for us. She even had the presence of mind to turn us away from family members who were coming from behind to surprise us. We received a few photos the night of the proposal to share with friends and then the rest of the photos after a quick turnaround. They were the first vendor we booked after securing our venue, so we got to know them over the course of the year leading up to our wedding in August 2025. After coming across their photos when researching different potential photographers that had experience at our venue, we were very interested in meeting them. We had an initial video call with them and knew immediately that we wanted to book them for such a critical part of our wedding journey. There aren't enough words to describe how skilled and professional they are--they are amazing photographers (individually and as a duo) and clearly love what they do. Our proposal photoshoot was the only prior experience we had in terms of taking professional photos as a couple. We met them in person for the first time at our engagement photoshoot--they immediately made us feel comfortable and were seriously thoughtful about the entire process, whether it was the location choices, minute-by-minute weather changes/forecast, outfit changes, etc. It really feels like they plan for everything and care about the little details. When we asked them about another vendor they would potentially work with on the day of our wedding, they even referenced notes they made when they had worked with them for a prior wedding. Throughout the whole process, they were prompt communicators (frequently responding to an email within minutes!) and guided us with experience and patience that we really appreciated. Whenever we had something to discuss with them (including choices we needed to make as a couple), they never hesitated to give us suggestions and feedback. Even if they offered an alternative suggestion to an idea of ours, it always felt like they genuinely cared and they wanted what we wanted, and it never felt like criticism. We received our wedding photos just about 2 months after our wedding, and we love every single one of them (all 667)! Having some chutzpah, I approached and asked for a card. I went home and looked up Barbara Bell online. Barbara Bell had no Yelp reviews at that time, but a beautiful portfolio. Done - hired. * Photography: 5 stars - I love her images shot in natural light. * Personality: 5 stars - Very pleasant during photo shoot and helpful when choosing which images to order. * Value: 4 stars - Like most professional photographers, the clients don't keep the negatives and buy the prints they like by selecting them online. * Communication: 3.5 stars - Hard to reach at times. We set up a photo shoot and met in the same park for about an hour. Our beloved dog was included (he *is* a family member after all). We had a fun and relaxed photo session; she was excellent with my son who hammed it up for her. The only downside was the inconvenience of not being able to reach her by phone. One of the things I loved about Barbara most was that she took action almost immediately, giving both Ru and I direction like a pro. She knew exactly what would look good on camera and what wouldn't. Fashion photography can be tricky because the details REALLY matter. For example, If a belt you're wearing shifts and never gets corrected, you won't have any usable photographs for that outfit as a whole. I told that to Barbara at the beginning of our shoot and she was very receptive to that advice, always making sure that I was adjusted the correctly. She was also very receptive to what I was looking for, constantly checking in and showing me the work she had done. I highly recommend Barbara. She's smart about her photography; she straddles that fine line of being receptive to your needs but also authoritative about her experience, beautifully. It also doesn't hurt that I had a ton of gorgeous photos to post to my blog (I've added one to the photos section).
