First off, this negative review has nothing to do with the professionalism of the staff there. They were attentive and well trained. However, I was SHOCKED at the price of a made-to-measure suit made up of Super160s wool. A very basic suit, with basic design elements was $9700. To say I was shocked is an understatement. I can have a bespoke suit made from scratch on Savile Row for about the same price. I can get a Tom Ford made-to-measure suit for half. Staff was great but whoever is setting those prices for that great staff should be embarrassed. Absolutely shocking embarrassing for them. Stay away. We had an exceptional experience at Hive & Colony. We learned of them at a bridal show in January, made an appointment for March. My husband and I looked through book upon book upon book of fabric swatches. We went with linen which was in our budget, then selected the several little details that go into crafting a custom suit. We had so much fun choosing buttons, placement, stitching, liner, etc. It's not bespoke, but certainly the next best thing to it. Did we spend a ridiculous amount of money? Yes, but it's a well crafted suit that is perfectly tailored to my husband's body that he can wear for years to come. read more

Incredibly unprofessional and terrible suit. I went in for a custom wedding suit and came away disappointed. I worked with habib, who spoke a big game and failed to deliver. To start, I went in to choose fabrics and get fit. They talked about how I came to the perfect place and that they could do exactly what I envisioned. Everything sounded great. During the fitting for my double breasted suit, I mentioned that he seemed to be fitting it super loose, which is not the look I was going for. He told me that's how a double breasted suit is supposed to fit and to trust him because he has a lot of experience. Okay then. When the suit finally arrived, big surprise, it didn't fit and they had to make alterations. Okay, no problem, right? They'll do the alterations and have the suit ready for me next week, guaranteed. I'll have the suit in time for my wedding no problem. Next week comes and I don't hear anything. I send an email and no response. I finally call them and they say that they'll have it ready tomorrow. It's 5 days before I leave for my wedding but I think that should be okay as long as they did the alterations correctly. The next day comes, I'm waiting for a call and don't hear anything so again I call. They tell me that there's a delay and they'll have it for me tomorrow, guaranteed. I'm starting to get annoyed but okay. The next day comes and AGAIN no word. I finally call and they say they've been unable to reach their tailor but that they promise they'll hand deliver it to my apartment tomorrow. It's two days before I leave and I'm freaking out. I ask them do I need to scramble for something else and they reassure me they'll have it tomorrow. Honestly I guess it's my fault for trusting them but big surprise they don't have it. I don't hear anything once again and have to call them. They finally admit they don't know if they'll have it and that I should come in that day for something off the rack that they could make work. I am full on panicking at that point while at work, trying to figure out how do I find an appropriate suit for my wedding in an afternoon. Later that afternoon, for the FIRST TIME, they call me to say that they heard from the tailor. They say that they can have it tomorrow for me. Again, I leave that day and they have continued to lie to me so I am demanding that they get it that day or give me the address to go pick it up and the sales rep starts insulting me, telling me to relax and that they'll have it the next day. They drop the suit off the next morning. It didn't fit how I wanted. Worst experience ever. TLDR the sales reps were incredibly disrespectful of my time, failed to ever communicate and many times outright lied. They almost ruined my wedding. read more

Over two months since my review, and I still have not received the refund that Hive & Colony promised. They have (again) apologized, and have (again) agreed that they will issue a refund. However, they could not tell me when I could expect the funds-this is all for a suit I ordered in Feb of 2024. Also, they will not refund my credit card (that I paid with) and want to issue a check. Hive & Colony in BOSTON IS A SCAM. Hive & Colony is a FRAUD!! I am getting married in a week and just had to pick up my "custom" suit for the 4th time. I ordered a custom suit in February and paid in full $3,500.00. I was assured that if anything was not to what my fiancé and I ordered they would do what they can to make it right even said they would make an entirely new suit if everything was wrong. Well, that is the exact opposite of what happened. Hive & Colony displayed the worst customer service I have ever encountered in my life. The suit came in exactly 4 weeks later in late March and I went to try it on. Everything was completely wrong. The pants were so tight they felt like spandex, so much I could not even cross my legs to put on shoe. The shirt was wrong, jacket too small in sleeves and shoulders, the vest had the wrong print (we asked for print on inside, they put print on entire back of vest). I can understand mistakes but when I pay for a custom suit and the measurements are so far gone it had me panicking. When I mentioned that I thought that measurements were way off the associate called the manager on the phone via video chat. Not one word was said, no apology or understanding, basically made me feel like I did something wrong. Also asked if some buttons can be changed out because we weren't crazy about them, and they denied it. So they remeasured me for the 3rd time and said come back in a week (now this is 3 weeks away from wedding). I come back a week later and nothing was done, zero point zero because they forget to send it to the tailoring. I start to lose my patience and luckily the store manager at the time handled it ok but quite frankly he was fully of shit just like the rest of the place. He knew the suit was all wrong but still insisted we get it remeasured and walk across the mall to a small little shop for tailoring. The tailor was able to make the pants wearable and to this point I already spent so much time and money that I just want to be over with it. Also, side note I left my belt, and it took them 3 weeks to find it and when I called to ask about it, they never returned my call and blatantly didn't care that it went missing. Besides all this drama here is THE BIGGEST ISSUE I have. I am with my 75-year-old father picking up the suit and when we leave the manager was carrying on and I personally witnessed him give my father and I the middle finger! Lastly, I go back today a week away from the wedding to pick up the custom shirt I spent $200.00 on, and they hand me a shirt that looked like they pulled it out of the back room. I never complain like this in my life but this needs to be voiced. If you look at all the comments everyone had a similar experience. I wish I had read these reviews before going. They will go out of business eventually when everyone sees through the bullshit. I would like to see a reply from someone on Hive & Colony about this. Absolute disgrace. read more

A couple of months ago, my fiancé and I went into Hive & Colony after seeing their booth at a wedding expo in the Seaport. We met with Jean for over an hour, who seemed so knowledgeable, gave great recommendations, provided whiskey for us to sip on during our time there, and made us feel great about the tux we designed for our wedding. About a month ago, we booked an appointment for my fiancé to get the measurements done, as Jean assured us multiple times that all of the design information was saved so all we had to do was make an appointment to come in for measurements whenever we were ready. When my fiancé went in today, they had no record of his tux design anywhere, nor any record that my fiancé had been to Hive & Colony at all. We were so excited to use H&C that we (naively) stopped looking elsewhere, and are now scrambling to find another custom tux to be made in the next two months. Be aware that they make promises they can't keep and their team may not be as knowledgable as they seem at first glance. If you do decide to put your trust in H&C, keep one eye out for backup options. read more

Hive & Colony is a place that claims to make quality custom suits, but actually imports garbage from China, offers terrible customer service, and will likely screw up your order. Do an image search for the code on the tag of the suits - 10058.030/56 you will get a result for an Alibaba suit that costs $140. The suits are cheap, cut poorly, and marked up over 3x. My friend got his and all his groomsmen's suits from Hive & Colony. 8/8 suits had to be tailored. Mine arrived 24 hours I was supposed to leave for the wedding. They sent the wrong shirts. When they corrected the shirts they sent me one without a top button. Hard pass. read more

Well, Jacket was ordered in October with the hopes of having it for 2 events I had upcoming, HS reunion Thanksgiving weekend and a trip to Vegas first week of December. After told it was in, it was recanted, and it did not arrive until after my reunion. When I drove the 45 minutes to the store to pick it up and test fit it, it had the wrong lining in it. They verified the order and it was ordered correctly. They did offer to let me keep it for my trip while they ordered the correct material to re-line it but I did not want to make multiple trips back to their shop so I left it. It was not completed with the correct lining until early January, a full month later. While the main lining was now correct, inside the pockets still has the wrong lining. This is a total epic fail for customer service. My jacket is still not correct and I have received better service from chain stores. At their prices I would expect much better, I would NEVER recommend them nor will I ever shop with them again. read more

Placed an order 4 months in advance of a wedding and told them I want the classic look not the skinny slim fit short pants that show socks as that is not my build. Totally ignored the customer and the suit arrived like spandex . Manager said they measured all wrong so sent it back for alterations. Came back to same tight fitting suit. Sent it back a 3rd time and 8 days before the wedding it arrived only to once again not be altered correctly. Brought me across to a boutique to have the seamstress take a look. She said she could fix their disaster for $450 and I could come back next day to pick up. That night received a phone call stating corp won't approve the alterations so we will send a refund and find a suit elsewhere 8 days before the wedding !!!! Store manager had her hands tied and wasn't her fault but would never recommend this place to anyone with a deadline. Left message with the president regarding the poor corporate decision not to cover alterations which were clearly a result of miss measurements as I remained within the +/- 10 lb threshold of the fit guaranty. No return from anyone in customer service. read more

I am extremely disappointed with Hive & Colony. Apparently, I am a difficult fit. I'm 6 ft, 235 and built portly. On January 31, I ordered a custom tuxedo for $2900. Six weeks later the tuxedo comes in and not only doesn't the tuxedo fit right, but the production line, which is in China by the way, not Italy as described couldn't even follow directions. So, I had to bring the tuxedo to a local tailor who did some marking up of the garment. I shipped it back (at my expense) and 6 weeks later received tuxedo #2. This garment didn't fit properly either and now I have a formal event in 3 days to which I have nothing to wear. The fine salesperson at H&C assured me this would fit. Boy was he wrong. H&C found a local tailor for me to go to to only to find out that the tuxedo still needed about $1000 in alteration. As you can see from the pictures below, nothing fit well. The shoulders were too wide, material buckled, one sleeve longer than the other. The vest needed a lot of work as well. The pants had already been opened up and the leg widened by the new tailor because the thigh was way too tight. Now I'm furious as you might imagine. One offer had been that H&C would pay the local tailor to remake the garment but that was quickly nixed by the store manager. I'm certainly not going to give H&C a third chance. I was then offered a full refund and told to keep the tux. An hour or so later I received a call from my salesman who told me the owner would not honor the refund but wanted the garment back to do the necessary recutting of the jacket. The vest was longer on one side than the other and the pant legs too narrow. I called American Express and disputed the charge. I have pictures which I sent to H&C and will get a letter from the local tailor (again, chosen for me by H&C because he knew what he was doing) if necessary. According to my new tailor (who apparently makes custom suits from scratch and uses things like Perkins tools and other professional tools) this was one of the worst garments he'd ever seen in his 30+ years as a tailor. When I told him what i paid, he nearly keeled over. He basically told me the fabric was ok but the workmanship was awful and anything more than $600 was a rip off. Though my suit did not turn out the way I wanted it, Mche did resolve the issue by not only giving me a full refund but also letting me keep the suit as a travel suit. They do stick by their Perfect Fit Guarantee and honor their word. Sometimes for one reason or another the suit doesn't come out the way you or they want it to, and I think the important part is that they care and work to make sure you're satisfied. My fiancé and I went to Hive and Colony while we were looking at suit/tux options for our wedding. I booked an appointment at Hive and Colony and instantly upon walking in the door I was greeted by Mche and Austin. These two individuals are the most knowledgeable people I have met in terms of menswear. They made me and my fiancé feel welcomed and really took time to understand the style we were going for as well as the versatility we wanted in being able to reuse the suit for work, and other events. The suits arrived within a 6-week period and we went in for our fitting the other day and I am amazed at the fit. I have never had a suit fit me as perfect as this one did. Mche looked over the suit to make a few more adjustments in terms of tailoring so it is perfect on our wedding day. Needless to say I am very excited having stumbled over Hive and Colony, I am now booking another appointment to order more suits.
