The owner, Lida, said she'd follow up and give me a call to see what happened but never did. I paid for the sweater they lost and don't feel like getting into an extended back and forth with them but I wouldn't recommend them if you want to get all your clothes back. The pieces that came back cleaned also didn't look like they had been cleaned thoroughly. One of them was a pair of pants that was covered with lint and loose threads. The other was a winter puffer coat that had bits of fuzz still stuck to the velcro parts.

I brought them in on a Friday on my way to work and not only did they have a zipper there to put in, but incredibly were able to complete the job by the next day!! I recently went back with my senior citizen dad to have two suits taken in as he has lost some weight over the last few years. We were worried that it would cost more to alter than to replace the suits but we got a very reasonable price and again, amazingly, were able to pick the suits up the next day. The two women who waited on us (I think one is the owner) were very pleasant, professional, and skilled. They didn't hesitate to tell me that the pants of one suit really didn't need to be taken in. They were very courteous to and patient with my dad. I can't recommend this shop highly enough. This place is a find. Convenient (on the Waverly bus line out of Harvard Square) and with on-street parking. The establishment is clean and pleasant with room to maneuver (sometimes tailor shops can be cramped and overfull).

But he's so efficient, fast, and convenient that I can't seem to bring myself to go elsewhere, especially given the fact that I usually need my alterations done quickly. He's a really nice guy too. One time, he had hemmed a couple of pairs of pants for me but when I got home I realized that I wanted them just a bit shorter. I went back and he fixed them for me without an extra charge. Instead of assessing the damage professionally, the owner decided to give me an unsolicited lecture on how to properly put on a dress-claiming the zipper was broken because I didn't pull it up "the right way." I tried to explain that I am a professional who has worn and handled countless gowns throughout my career. I am more than familiar with how to put on a dress. On top of that, he suggested putting a heavy-duty jacket-style zipper on a delicate, multi-layered ballroom gown worth thousands. That's absurd-imagine putting a chunky zipper on a lace wedding dress. He clearly didn't understand the type of garment I brought in. Just take a look at how the owner responds to customers who leave low ratings-rather than trying to resolve the issue, he gets defensive and blames the client. There's a clear pattern: if an alteration isn't done well, somehow it's always the customer's fault. Too short? Your fault. Uneven? Your fault. In my case, I brought in a dress with a broken zipper, and apparently, that was also my fault-because I didn't know how to zip it up properly. Ridiculous. I did not come in for a lesson-I came in for a repair. I found his attitude unnecessarily rude, patronizing, and completely unprofessional. Very old building and better yet, affordable prices for dry cleaning and impeccably done. I love extra crisp starched shirts and they were done to perfection. Today I brought two new suits to be tailored and there is a charming little dressing and measuring area that truly is out of the 1940's and 50's. "Oak" is the proprietor and tailor, no appointment needed and she knew exactly what to do and not do with my new suits. I highly recommend this little place, plenty of street parking and Oak is very skilled, courteous and appreciative of the business.
