It was such a cozy speakeasy vibe, all of the staff were so nice and happy to show off all the cute items on the menu, it truly made it so much fun. The amount of pink was also so cute, if you're a Hello Kitty or Sanrio lover this place is a MUST! We got the Berry Kawaii and the Sanrio Surprise for our drinks. For the desserts we tried the tiramisu and the apple pie. I was honestly stunned at just how delicious the desserts were, especially the apple pie as it had that perfect buttery flakey crust and was served with ice cream. Cute spot for people who love hello kitty and drinks! I brought a visitor who loves Hello Kitty to the bow room for cocktail hour. I made a reservation out about 3 weeks in advance to ensure we have a spot. When I got there, there was really only 1 other table, it was pretty empty, but this place is great for large groups, date night, or small groups. They have a bar seating, a bunch of booths, and small tables. We came here for the vibes and were pretty flexible on what to drink, so we asked for the most theatrical drinks. They just launched the winter menu which we realized is exactly the Fall menu but with different titles. If you look at the recipe it's pretty much the same thing. I was honestly pretty disappointed in the recommendation, I got the berry Kawaii and it was definitely not theatric -- it was just a drink with the hello kitty stamp. The overall flavor was okay.. I didn't really taste much of the ingredients, as the strawberry gin was more overwhelming. My favorite drink was the Falling in Love, though this drink is mostly the foam on top. I felt like this one was the best bang for your buck. If you are looking for something to keep, the Picture Perfect is great because you get the polaroid photo as a keepsake. We ended up paying $5 for a picture and it didn't even come with any Hello Kitty frame (definitely not worth it). The other parties got the mocktails which they said was pretty good as well. I made reservations to the Afternoon Tea service. The Bow Room is very cute. What you would expect from a Hello Kitty themed venue/cafe. Very on brand. Everything from the ceiling to the bathroom was Hello Kitty themed or pink. Cuteness overload (in a good way). It's pretty expensive being $60 per person. For adults it's more worth it, for kids, not so much. The food itself is just OK. The best tasting items were the quiche, the scones, and the desserts. The tea (summer peach) was good and would make a really good boba drink. Service was great. Everyone was super nice and helpful. Not sure if I'd go again for afternoon tea (with kids), but I'm really curious to try out their Cocktail service next time! Gotta get my girls together for a girls' night out. Reservations are highly recommended. I think you Might get lucky if you're solo or a party of two, but I'd recommend getting reservations especially if you're traveling to visit. Behind the locked doors under the bow in the Hello Kitty Cafe lies a beautiful Hello Kitty themed speakeasy. Aesthetically this is every girly girl's dream! The room is all pink from the floor to the ceiling. It's a dimly lit room with neon lighting accents. The bar in the middle is beautiful. The service was top notch. Our server, Sammie was so professional and treated us so well. She also was extremely knowledgeable too. There were sadly some things that I didn't like as much. I think this spot is very Instagram-able and so photoworthy, but needs improvements in the food and drink department. While I was excited to see they offer 3 mocktails, I had high hopes of ordering a regular drink and just substituting the alcohol for soda water. Sammie told me that at the cafe they run a "tight ship" and that wouldn't be allowed. The first drink I ordered came in the cute hello kitty cup, however, it didn't have a skirt or beads like all the alcoholic ones. It sort of felt like being punished for not drinking alcohol, honestly. Also, it was so sweet and not satisfying. Though it's inside the hello Kitty cafe, they only offer tea services during the morning/afternoon and cocktail hour in the evening. You need reservations for both. You can make reservations online. Making reservations for the tea party is easy if your party is under 7 people. Booking for parties of 8 and up is a little more time consuming. They don't get back to you in a timely manner and I was never told if after I paid my invoice if my reservation was finalized. As far as service when I'm there for my reservations, the staff is nice and friendly. They always make sure to see if you have allergies with any food items and always try their best to accommodate. I've been there twice for tea service and once for evening cocktails. I have no complaints. read more

1 Star -- If I could give zero, I would. I've dealt with bad customer service before, but The Bow Room and Hello Kitty Cafe just set a new standard for how NOT to treat paying customers. A month ago, I started trying to cancel my reservation -- online, over the phone, and through email. I followed every hoop they made me jump through, yet here we are: the day of the reservation, and they still charged me. Apparently, their definition of "customer service" is ignoring you long enough to run your card anyway. The lack of communication, accountability, or even basic courtesy is astounding. Not once did anyone step up to resolve the issue, offer a solution, or show the slightest bit of concern. I can confidently say this entire experience has been a complete waste of time, energy, and money. Between the runaround and the blatant disregard for their guests, I can't imagine how they expect anyone to come back. If you're thinking of booking here -- don't. Hi, if I could give negative stars for the service I would have. It was the worst experience of my life and I have been to a ton of places. We were treated like we don't exist. I asked few times for the corn nuts and was ignored. The server even brought it to all the new guests. To make matters worse, she took my ID. I have never ever given my ID at a restaurant. I don't get the reason of taking my ID. Oh and she was taking pictures of all the guests but us. Like we were invisible. I wanted to talk to the manager but we had dinner reservations. My review of The Bow Room won't hurt Sanrio in the slightest, so let me say what I actually want to say here. (Review is for cocktail hours, not afternoon tea) 1. It's cute. You'll get some pictures out of it. That's what you come here for--and that's about it. 2. It's sweet. Everything. Everything is so sweet, haha. All the alcoholic drinks are essentially dessert and we had so many moments of "well maybe if we just let the ice melt--" lol. I would say that the drinks are a strong hit or miss for some. 3. The pastries don't taste... how they're advertised? An example would be the "Strawberry Cake" being mostly a vanilla cake with one strawberry on top and the "Lemon Donuts" tasting like regular donuts. The "Mama's Apple Pie" wasn't disappointing, but it does come out cold from the front display window. While the service is awesome, I think it's a good idea to set some lower expectations for Hello Kitty's cocktail room. With the drinks being so sweet already, I think it would've been nice if there were some savory bite options. I can see this being a great place to stop by after eating dinner in the mall for "something sweet," but I'm also not sure how feasible a casual "drop-in" would be since reservations are required. This could also just be a nice place to take friends or family from out-of-town (which was my reason for making a res). I made reservations for the early evening when it wasn't too busy as the place is a bit on the smaller side, and it wasn't too busy or noisy. My mom and it tried four of their cocktails, but my absolute favorite was their Thai Tea cocktail. This is my second time coming here, and I think it was better than the first. Love that it's actually a café so their espresso martini is actually delicious because it's made with fresh espresso. My friend drink was good as well, and the strawberry tart was delicious it had Bavarian cream in it. Our server was the sweetest. I took my niece here for her 7th birthday. I got lucky finding a reservation after two months of searching and being on the waitlist they had an opening last minute when I checked the day before. I was excited to surprise her because she loves hello kitty. When you get there, you have to wait in line to check in and be escorted into the bow room. Once inside, I was sad to see it was very underwhelming. I thought it would have more characters and fun toys but it's very small, about 8 booths and a small bar area with five seats. Two drinks are included in the price and they have a set menu, which I expected after my research online. The savory items weren't very good and I'd say if you are going with kids who are picky eaters, they most likely will not eat the savory snacks. The deserts were very cute and mostly good but overall I gave this place a 3 because of the presentation. The taste, atmosphere and price probably deserves two stars. I wouldn't recommend this place for how expensive it is and I was sad we did not enjoy it more. The bow room feels like such an exclusive experience, the bar itself is extremely instagrammable so make sure to take those photos! The staff is always amazing, everyone is so nice and helpful. I first started off with ordering their picture perfect drink, it's basically similar to a Moscow mule with popping boba! So delicious and it even comes with a Polaroid they take of you with the guest frame! The next drink I had was their berry kawaii. Funny thing about me is I'm neither a vodka or gin gal, it's always been tequila based drinks for me. However, the way the drinks here are crafted I would just try their whole menu at one point. The berry kawaii drink was my personal favorite, a gin based drink and even comes with a hello Kitty imprint on it. The drinks here are definitely a little on the pricier side, however the experience is so worth it. If you're looking to share a drink they even have a tiki option which is definitely bigger than any other drink on the menu. [AFTERNOON TEA REVIEW] All ages are welcome, and you get seated immediately after check in. TLDR; worth it to come once and experience the food, service and decor, but super pricey $65, auto 18% gratuity) - First course: you will get a strawberry and cream dessert. It's light and refreshing, and the strawberries are fresh! - Tea selection: each person will have their own tea to select. You can do hot (comes in a teapot) or cold (served in a 16 OZ cup) - Meal: it comes out on an adorable hello kitty shaped platter. Impromptu visit from San Francisco while visiting for nieces bridal shower for the weekend. Tried to get reservations but all booked (no surprises) however was informed that they do take walk ins if available. My niece inquired personally with the Alyza who was in charge of reservations and she so kindly told her to come back at 5 pm when they open and she will do her best to accommodate. So we did and Alyza let me and my sister know that we will be priority walk- in as soon as she lets all reservations processed and in the venue! We got in!!! Super happy and excited! Got seated at a table and was greeted by cute Kaylie/Kayley who was super friendly and explained all the drinks and gave us some of her favorites and recommendations! We ordered the "falling in love" and peppermint cocktail per her recommendation and it did not disappoint! So let's talk about it. This place is ADORABLE. I'd been meaning to go here for such a long time & it randomly struck me to try to make a reservation. Luckily, there was a spot available same day & I snagged it immediately. Make sure that you are SURE you want to go if you're scheduling same day because you'll get charged $25/person for not showing up/cancelling! First off, remember the fact that this is in the Irvine Spectrum by the Ferris wheel so add that into your trip time because parking isn't fun at the Spectrum and it's NEVER fun on a Friday or Saturday (which are the only days that cocktail service is available) We arrived right at 5:00 so we waited in the Hello Kitty Cafe for someone to come out and check us in. They check ID, seat you, explain the process, & then take an ID to hold at the bar for your party. There must be at least (1) drink order to account for everyone in the party. Even if 4 people come and one person does not drink, 4 drinks must be ordered. Keep in mind that there are mocktails along with the alcoholic drinks so I think there's something for everyone! Of course E V E R Y T H I N G is pink, the best shade of it if we're being honest. There are a few stand alone tables but most are a part of a booth somewhere along the walls of the speakeasy. The bar even has a lit up Hello Kitty silhouette in the background, I love it. Everyone is SO kind, so patient, so honest with their opinions, & really make it a great time. I also want to note that we were seated next to a party of 5-6 having a birthday celebration. One of the people ordered the Picture Perfect & it literally comes with a polaroid of your group attached to it. They take the photo on a polaroid and tie it to the first drink that you order, it's super cute. Be aware that some of the desserts may not be available & some may take a bit of time as most are made to order! We ordered: - The Empress Kitty ($21) - Tongue Thai'd ($19) - The Bee Kind ($19) - Strawberry Cake ($10) - Cinnamon Doughnuts ($10) The Empress Kitty was SO good, you can taste the vodka but the elderflower really takes center stage & it's in the cutest Hello Kitty cup with a gold leaf crown, adorable. I finished it a bit quicker than expected but it was so good so I wasn't super upset about it (a little heavy on the ice though, I won't lie but what do I know?) My boyfriend got the Tongue Thai'd and he loved it! He loves a good Thai tea so I wasn't surprised with how much he liked it (if you're not a Thai tea fan, I wouldn't recommend) It's quite strong but so lovely, great flavor. The Bee Kind was the CUTEST take on a Bee's Knees with some added honey lavender syrup. It was perfect. It immediately caught my attention when I checked the menu because "honey" and "lavender" (especially together) are two of my buzzwords. Also loved the added touch of the engraved hello kitty face on the lemon peel, definitely my favorite of the three drinks. The Strawberry Cake! Oh my goodness, super super cute and so so yummy, I want to say the outside shell was like a buttercream? Honestly, doesn't even matter because it was lovely. The strawberry on top and the strawberry filling in between the moist cake was divine. THE DOUGHNUTS!!!! I've been dreaming about these doughnuts, I swear to you. Sometimes I get lost in a world of doughnuts during my meetings (don't tell my boss) because they are THAT good. They're made to order and come out to you so warm & fresh, I swear there's a bright pink aura that surrounds them. I really tried my best not to power through them but I haven't been tested like that in a LONG time! 1000/10, get the doughnuts. Get them. It's a bit pricey but I had a nice time so I absolutely think that it was worth it & plus you can walk around a bit afterwards if you're feeling up to it, I love a good walk after drinks & doughnuts! | Review for Cocktail Service | Only available Friday and Saturday 5:00-9:30 pm with 9:00 pm being the last seating. Location: Located at Irvine Spectrum, a spacious outdoor mall that has plenty of free parking. The Bow Room is inside the Hello Kitty Cafe, which is next to the Ferris Wheel and near the Nordstrom. Reservations: Definitely make reservations on Resy at least 2-3 weeks in advance. Reservations are usually always booked up unless you reserve in advance. Making a free reservation through Resy is easy, but just note that they claim to charge you a fee if you are a no-show. If reservations are booked up for the day/time you want, just sign up to receive a notification to your email if someone cancels. This is what I had to do so once I got the notification, I quickly reserved it. You might also get lucky and do an in person walk-up if someone cancels last minute. If you have a Bow Room reservation, just go straight inside the Hello Kitty Cafe. Don't wait in the super long line outside to check in; this line is for the cafe. Rules: - Everyone in the group has to order one drink (whether it be a cocktail or a mocktail). Alternatively, you just need to order the number of drinks matching the number of people in your group. - As mentioned, if you are late or a no-show to your reservation, they may charge your credit card - They cannot make any adjustments to the drinks. I asked if they could take any cocktail and convert it into a mocktail but the waiter said they can't. - Minors who are under 21 years old are not allowed in the Bow Room during cocktail service - They give you a time limitation; I think it is 90 minutes Our experience here was great. We arrived on time for our reservation and were told the rules and promptly seated. The Bow Room is all pink and it's the cutest place. It is pretty small inside, but big groups could probably be accommodated if they put the tables together. Even the restroom is cute. Service is also friendly and prompt Drinks: - The Pink Bow (5/5): fruity and nice presentation - Jack Daniel (4/5): creamy and fruity with whipped cream on top - The Golden Apple: my friend got this mocktail and said it was good You can also order any of the bakery items from the Hello Kitty Cafe and they will bring it to you. Note about the cocktails: they are honestly a lot stronger than I thought they would be. Depending on who you are, that may be a good thing or a bad thing but the drinks are definitely not watered down.
