Was looking for a jazz night spot and found this place. Nice vibe inside. A dimly lit place and not too crowded. Got seated right by the Jazz band and fireplace which made it extra special. The food was amazing! Sooo good. Two thumbs up! Service was slow though. Our server took a while to come back and food arrived after 45 minutes and my drink came near the end. I had such a great time at MESA! The ambience is beautiful, the vibe is lively, and the DJ kept the music on point all night. The customer service was amazing everyone treated us really well and made the experience feel special. One thing I loved was the birthday sparkles they bring out. It adds such a fun touch and really gets the whole place celebrating with you. Lots of people, great energy, and overall just a perfect spot for a good night out.Parking can get a little tight, so I recommend arriving early or using valet if you don't mind paying for the convenience. I haven't been back in a decade & I was surprised that this place still existed when one of our friends suggested we come here to grab drinks. It was a Saturday night that 4 of us stopped by for a drink after having dinner nearby. Place was not as packed around 9:30 but it got more crowded as the night went on. For starters, we opened up with their charcuterie, fried olives, and hand cut fries. All were absolutely delicious! A little more information as to the charcuterie and cheeseboard ingredients would have been nice. The fried olives were extremely tasty as well. For the main courses, we had a variety for our table, with my wife ordering a pizza margarita. I ordered their poblano chicken with fingerling potatoes, and our friends ordered a Caesar salad and the braised short ribs. All the dishes were incredibly delicious and well presented! I came to Mesa for the first time for a networking event last night. It feels like an upscale lounge and I really liked the vibes. They have some cool art on the walls, some nods to Andy Warhol and some open concept fire places. It's also wild that there's an open roof! What really did it for me this last visit was my friend getting pickpocketed and having her phone stolen. I know theft isn't entirely the club's fault, but the lack of concern from staff was disappointing. We even heard that someone else had their phone stolen the same night, which makes it feel like an ongoing issue rather than a one-off incident. They clearly need more staff and better monitoring. As for the venue itself, the drinks have always been pretty underwhelming, the music is very hit-or-miss, and the staff experience depends on who you get--some are friendly, others not so much. The space is tiny, whether you want to call it a lounge or a club, and there's barely any room to dance. The crowd can be aggressive and overcrowded, which only adds to the discomfort. Came here as part of a Meet Up on Halloween and was pleasantly suprised with the location/set up. There was lots of lounge seating in the back if you wanted to sit and mingle with others. Overall, plenty of space to mingle with others if you were not seated for dinner. You could also get drinks at the bar and the drinks from the specials were delicious and reasonably priced. Matcha and alcohol should not mix but somehow it was tasty. As for service, as soon as we came in we experienced friendly hostesses and even the bartender. I am suprised by another review here for the same night, saying they felt rushed and could not stay to mingle or dance. It definitely did not have the space for dancing, but walking around was fine and we never felt rushed to leave. I've been here 10 years ago and had a great time then. Decided to do our girls dinner here this past Friday night and had a fabulous time. I made reservations online and arrived right at 8pm. Hostess were friendly and very helpful. My 2 friends were late and I was still able y get seated right away, love that about Mesa. The restaurant is still just as trendy and beautiful as I remembered. Our waitress was lovely, attentive and friendly. Our dinners were delicious except my salmon was a bit too salty for me. The lychee martinis were AMAZING just as I remembered. Enjoyable night out with my girlfriends, still highly recommend if you haven't been. They have valet for $20 or public parking available. I came for a social event from an app. The crowd size was okay on a Friday around 6 pm and picked up steam by the time it was 9 pm. I enjoyed the complimentary drink I received at the front door (as part of the social event). The concierge (attendant at the front) was hospitable. The ambiance is nice and you can possibly see the stars (look up). Washroom is one area (unisex). Red light above door is occupied. Green light is available. Recommendation: Bar employees should constantly look around in case someone needs water or to order something. Note for customers: The business is officially a bar but will become a mini-night club around 10:30 pm. You will know with all the female employees coming out with a sign and the bright sparkles from bottles. Also, the DJ randomly appeared like a genie. Security will start showing up outside and inside the business. Metal detector outside is a thing, possibly due to past incidents with CCW (concealed carry weapon). General rule, don't do anything stupid (drunk or not) because you don't know people's background (firearm or hand to hand combat training). Other than that, have fun and keep friends safe! read more

I'm not sure why it is a thing to try and market a vip lounge if there's no dance floor and no one dancing. Like why sit there paying thousands just for ppl to take a lap and look at you for 15 seconds before they get served a two sip Dixie sized cup of ice and two tablespoons of drink to get scooted out after one lap or pay another $20 for two more tablespoons of drink. Especially when the type of ppl who pay thousands for something like that are gonna down the whole bottle in under 1 minute and drink a gallon of alcohol per day. Plus I'm pretty sure the paid mooches will prdrink your bottles to the head without asking to get you to leave your table even faster. If you People who are there to drink will come up to your table and hang around and mooch for a seat so they can stay in the place longer while u eat. It's hard to get out from the tables after eating bc of this. We just knew at the host area that as soon as we entered we would be expected to leave immediately after dining after declining bottle service bc that's the vibe. Not one I enjoy. The lady screamed "they're eating" which was really embarrassing. They had several empty tables. First they took us to a little drink couch with a short coffee table situation. We both had elaborate costumes - coattails, hats, my handmade gown with hoop, corset etc. I was shocked because we had DINNER reservations, not a cocktail reservation. No way would we be eating our first tomahawk steak off a coffee table with any grace or dignity. I told her I we will not be having our dinner at a coffee table. So they reseated us. We had dinner. It was delicious. I thought we could dance after. I was wrong. We were kept waiting for the check and the exit around our table to clear for around 30 minutes. It was over $100 a person, no drinks and they don't serve any type of dessert. We left a tip well over 20%. The girl sitting next to us with her free Rose had gotten up and circled around then literally asked us IF we WANTED HER TO WALK ME OUT. Wtf?! Also we didn't get a choice to get up and mingle or dance so we left. No one ought to be drinking at any establishment that doesn't make room for the 1 drink, 1 water, 30 minute rule. Busy lot shared by The Camp which is a small mall. Valet service was $20 but he was so nice and parked my car right out front. Said I can leave my car overnight if I got too tipsy. That was a nice touch, I thought. Headed inside and I was given a glass of champagne to sip on while I found my friends. The venue is SO NICE. The interior design was well thought out. Decors, vibes, and staff, set the mood for a great night. The drinks are about $16-$27 each. We tried lychee martini, different margaritas: cucumber, spicy, illegal mezcal. All were deliciously creeping up on us. Ordered a bunch of appetizers: pizzas, calamari, meatballs, Mediterranean board, sliders, fries. Everything was good. My favorite were the sliders! Get the sliders. After about 2 hours, the place turned into a club/lounge and lots of groups ordered bottled service which was brought out by the girls. DJ played good music, mainly hip hop and R&B. The place gets crowded but it's heavily managed by security to keep walkways clear which is good so people aren't just crowding around. Dance floor is nonexistent except a small area by the DJ booth. Mesa is a bar located in downtown Costa Mesa just behind John Wayne Airport. There's a parking lot with self-parking or valet parking; there's also street parking in the area. When we walked in we were greeted with complimentary rosé. You can make reservations online but the bar is open seating. The interior was pretty interesting with three different sections and vibes. On one side is a restaurant with tables, the middle is the bar with bar seats and a countertop, and the other side is a lounge-y area surrounding a giant tree. My first drink was the monte carlo ($18) which was very good and like an old fashioned. My second drink was the lavender haze ($18) which was like a cross between a gold rush and a whiskey sour. We also ordered the hand cut fries ($10) which were good; they also had an option for thick cut fries if you prefer those. Later on in the night, the bar area turned into standing room only and it became sort of a club. When we left we saw a line out the door to get in so this bar has all the vibes you might want.
