If you order one thing here, make it this. Beautiful crust, cooked exactly right, and that blue cheese crust takes the whole thing somewhere else. Sautéed broccolini on the side -- simple and done right. Cocktails were on point too. The Dreamberry, a proper dirty martini, and a Manhattan -- all made the right way, no shortcuts. The food was amazing as it always is at every mastros! How the entire mastros staff worked together was seamlessly beautiful! Since this location is still new, there were a few service hiccups along the way. That said, our server, Gojko, was fantastic and truly went above and beyond to make our dinner enjoyable. To be honest, this location was disappointing and is unacceptable for a Mastro's. Having a location in Irvine Spectrum really ruins the reputation and experience of the brand. This space felt small, cramped, hectic, and didn't have the upscale atmosphere or clientele you typically expect from mastro's. Compared to the Costa Mesa and Newport locations, the overall experience was a major step down from what you'd expect from the nice 5-star steakhouse. The live singers were nice but it was so loud that our party could barely have a conversation. I know they tried in good service, but it was also lacking. All our drinks came out extremely late where we nearly finished our main course. I was actually close to cancelling my cocktail. At one point we had empty Coke bottles sitting on our table. I purposely waited to see if a server would clear them up, since there were already limited space on our table, but multiple staff members passed by empty-handed, looked over, and ignored them. The restaurant was hot, bread crumbs were not scraped off from the table, and we had to ask multiple times to refill waters. They initially brought out small cold plates but thankfully our waiter corrected the other server and had them taken it away to give us all properly heated plates with butter. All this would never happen at the other locations I've visited. If I'm spending $600+, I expect staff to be trained and the service to reflect that level of pricing. Fortunately the food was still very good. Tomahawk, prawns, lobster Mac, creamed corn, truffle cauliflower, crusted sea bass were all delicious. The one I'd skip is the halibut - it was dry and pretty basic. I'd recommend doing yourself a favor and drive a little farther for the other locations. Went here for a business dinner on a Thursday evening as a group of 7. We were promptly seated at our reservation time. Firstly, our servers and everyone that assisted her were all excellent - waters were refilled, multiple people brought our appetizers, entrees, sides, etc. Everyone did a fantastic job keeping track of us. Secondly, the food was all incredible. We definitely over-ordered for our party size (too many sides), but nothing went to waste and everything was cooked to perfection. The live music being played in the lobby was also beautiful renditions of current songs, something I found unique. Some negatives - the entire dinner took almost 3.5 hours, and we didn't receive our entrees until the 2 hour mark. We didn't order a ton of appetizers (some side salads and bread), so it seemed like a very long time to wait. A member of our party actually had to leave for the airport before receiving his entree, but our servers were kind enough to pack it up for him to go. It was also VERY dark inside the restaurant, to the point that it was difficult for members of our party to confirm their steaks had been cooked to the desired temperature. I was hesitant to try this Mastro's because I've always considered this restaurant as more of a destination dining experience. Decided to finally give this location a try and I was not disappointed. We decided to splurge and started off with the Dungeness Crab Cocktail and Wagyu Beef Roll. The Crab Cocktail was served with an amazing smoky presentation. Each piece of crab was so sweet and moist. The Wagyu Beef Roll was kind of a weird mix of flavors with aspaagus, jalapeno, and the sauce. For our entrees we ordered the 22oz Bone-in Ribeye with Peppercorn sauce and the Crispy Garlic Bigeye Tuna Sashimi. The Ribeye was cooked to a perfectly juicy Medium Rare and the Sashimi was packed with flavor. The sides we ordered were the Scalloped Potatoes and Creamed Corn. The Creamed Corn was some the best I've had, but our potatoes were undercooked and hard. Our server was quick to swap them out for the Garlic Mashed Potatoes, which were much better. They have the BEST shrimp cocktail, and while I usually order the ribeye, this time I went with the filet mignon with truffle butter and OMG... so flavorful, tender, and delicious! The mashed potatoes are so creamy and the mushrooms were delicious too. And just get the bread basket... TRUST ME! The cocktails are such a fun experience. They bring your drink in a shaker, pour it at the table, and then keep refilling your glass. It seriously feels like you're getting two drinks! I also love their dry ice cocktails because the presentation is so fun. I tried the lemon drop, which was delicious, but my favorite is still the Sidecar. And the birthday dessert is OUTSTANDING! Mastros is dimly lit and makes a great date night. The service at the bar was fantastic. The bar area is trendy, large and they had a pianist performing to add to the vibe. I am a huge fan of their martinis over dry ice. Absolutely delicious and pack a punch. Had several otherwise we came for a nightcap and added dessert. With this location opening up at the spectrum, my husband, and I decided to make a reservation for dinner since we heard good things about Matros. Reservations were easy to make online. Although you may want to book a couple of weeks early if you plan to visit on a weekend night and want to sit in the main dining room. We arrived for our 6pm reservation and were promptly sat at one of the high tables in the bar area. Our server quickly introduced herself and water was brought to our table. We ordered the bread basket ($5), steel for bread but at least there was a good and generous selection. I also ordered a raspberry lemon drop, which was served tabled side. Pretty amazing and was yummy! When it was time to order food, I decided on the American Wagyu fillet, cooked, medium. My husband decided on the bone in ribeye, also cooked-rare, medium rare. When the steaks came out, they were perfectly cooked and seasoned well. Although I recommend ordering slightly below what you normally do because the plate that they are served on are extremely hot that you can continue to cook it on the plate itself! Maybe a yuzu ponzu would lighten the dish up. Chilean Sea Bass: 7/10 My server told me I had 3 options on how I'd like my chilean sea bass cooked. Celebrated my husbands birthday here last weekend and had a great time! I especially love that they personalized the menu to say happy birthday! It was such a small thing but a really nice touch that made him feel special. We haven't been to Mastro's before but we knew that we had to get the steak and seafood and boy, did we. We split the seafood tower which is totally customizable and included a smattering of fresh shrimps, lobster, and oysters. I only indulged in the shrimp but it was so good, really high quality. My husband loved his lobster and oysters, too. He also loved his 40 oz tomahawk and yes, he did finish it all. Wild. I had a bite and loved the char, it was cooked really well. For my main, I had the sea bass cooked to their recommendation. We also split broccolini and the mac n cheese but honestly this was overkill after everything else, including the bread basket appetizer. We could barely finish it. On top of that we ordered the butter cake (gotta have a birthday sweet treat!) and they also brought us a complimentary slice of chocolate cake that was HUGE. We ended up with a lot of leftovers which honestly I wasn't mad at. Overall, this was a splurge of a dinner. I am writing to share a disappointing experience my husband and I had at this location. We were celebrating our four-year wedding anniversary and chose Mastro's because we have always spoken highly of the restaurant and expected a special evening. Unfortunately, this visit fell far below the standard we associate with Mastro's. Our evening began positively. Our server, Caleb, was kind, made thoughtful recommendations, and informed us that a celebratory dessert would be offered after the meal, which we appreciated. However, after placing our order, there was a significant delay before our entrées arrived. When they did, both steaks were cold. My husband ordered the A5 Wagyu filet, and I ordered the 8 oz filet mignon Oscar style. While the sides were hot, the cold entrées made it difficult to enjoy the meal as intended. After the food was delivered, no one checked on our table for some time. We attempted to get the attention of a server or manager and even asked another server to assist, but were unable to reach anyone until later. A manager, Sergio, eventually came by while dropping off drinks, and we were able to explain the issue. He apologized and offered to remake the entrées, which we accepted. The replacement entrées took a considerable amount of time and arrived barely lukewarm. In addition, the crab topping on my Oscar-style filet was overly salty and inedible for both my husband and me. By that point, the timing and quality issues had significantly impacted our experience. We did our best to finish what we could. At the end of the meal, we were served a complimentary dessert along with additional items, including chocolate-dipped strawberries. We had not requested the extra desserts and were no longer able to fully enjoy them after the extended delays and meal experience. When the check arrived, our server mentioned that some items had been taken care of along with the desserts. However, upon review, the only adjustment was the originally promised celebratory dessert. Given the overall experience and over $600 spent, we had expected a more attentive response to the service and food issues encountered. Overall, the combination of delays, temperature issues, and lack of timely check-ins significantly impacted what was meant to be a special celebration. Dinner for Fathers Day and my daughters birthday was excellent. If restaurants had a standard for service Mastros Ocean Club would be the bearer of the Gold Standard. Not all restaurants can generate a $1000 bill for a party of four. So I get it that 3-4 employees can't be waiting on one table. The drinks were great. One martini order will end up with 1.5 drinks. Got an attitude adjustment quickly. The food was perfectly cooked and my party was happy with their steaks and lobster. The seafood tower was spectacular and no one does it consistently better. We sat at a high table far left of bar, and it was comfortable seating. The ambiance and dining room/bar with grand height ceilings really makes Mastro's costa mesa look like a little brother. Let me first say service was top notch, thank you Miranda! We started with a round of cocktails, Ron Burgundy and Marenco Pineto. Both rich and tasty. Was amazing the steak I ordered was the filet and mash potatoes and it was cooked to perfection. Not over powering seasoned steak cooked at the right temperature as well. The mash potatoes paired well with the steak to add extra flavors and the texture was so smooth as well. The sauté shrimp was good to very tender and burst of flavor. We also ordered some dessert to go and wow just wow . My husband cheesecake was huge ! And it was delicious not over powering of sweetness and it was easy to eat. I got the crème brûlée I forgot to take a picture of it but it was delicious it tasted like I was eating a toasted marshmallow I'd definitely recommend that for dessert . Now for the service ! The service was impeccable! 10/10 mastro knows how to pick their waiters because the gentleman that served my husband and I was great. We went for my husband's birthday the other night and he made sure we had everything accounted for. He wasn't over trying to serve us but made sure we got everything we needed. Always checking on us and my husband isn't big of being on the spot when it comes to his birthday so he made it pretty discrete . Perfect service ! This is a newer Mastro's location and does not live up to the food and service standards expected of the brand. On a Saturday at 5pm, we did not expect to have to wait 10 minutes for water and 25 minutes for bread. Most of our vegetable sides were undercooked. Server Sam was easily the worst server we've had in a dozen visits to various Mastro's locations. Theres too many options in South OC to waste money here. read more

Ambiance very nice, you can dress up or come a bit casual. Dont wear shirts & flip flops though. It's a nice place. Dark, romantic lighting. Cocktails were good - cucumber martini and Pom martini - the old fashioned was pretty plain - no bitters or cherry. Oysters were excellent- we tried with and without caviar topping. Would not have caviar again, but wanted to try it. $75 up charge too so there's that to consider. Our service was excellent then half way through, the entrees dragged. Food - Extra large lobster tail, filet and miso glazed cod were amazing & highly recommended. Would not have the hamachi sushi roll again because it was buried in heavy mayo type sauce. First time trying this location. My wife and I shared the lobster bisque and it was amazing! We both agreed it was the best we've ever had. We then split the bone in filet. It was cooked perfectly and absolutely delicious. The service, ambiance and decor are all top level. Definitely coming back here read more
