Greedy stylist. Charged $75 to trim a child's hair. My daughter is familiar with Hiwot and she asked to go here so I agreed, but that won't happen again. Will be booking my daughter's trim every 3 months with someone else. Posting this to warn others. Hiwot has no prices posted and now charges outrageous fees. I did get quotes from other stylist and the highest amount I was quoted was $50 so I didn't expect to pay more than that. I didn't get a quote from Hiwot because we'd been before and the price was reasonable-however that is no longer the case. It's a shame because my daughter likes her, but I don't like being ripped off. read more

Hiwot is an absolute sweetheart and an expert at what she does. I get my hair straightened about 2 or 3 times per year. I am always worried about getting my hair straightened because I do not want heat damage. When you know what you're doing and know how to protect natural hair, you can straighten natural hair without causing damage. Hiwot is skilled and does this with ease. My hair had no heat damage upon washing my hair. I discovered Hiwot Studio through Groupon. I called to book an appointment and it started about 5 or 10 minutes late (which was fine, because the receptionist communicated that she was finishing up with another client). Sometimes all you need is communication to feel better about things. Another thing I liked about Hiwot is that she was willing to take my sis-in-law in as a walkin. It didn't happen because of the scheduling availability, but I appreciated her willingness. Her technique of doing hair is with great care and it is efficient. I think it only took an hour, maybe an hour and fifteen minutes to do my hair. She blew dry my hair with such gentleness and care. This was the best blow drying experience I've ever had. She also did not pass through my hair with the flat iron many times, which helps to avoid heat damage. I'm so amazed at how she and other stylists are able to create curls with flat irons lol. My hair looked great when she was done and I was super happy! She also gave me a much needed trim and worked around the crazy cuts I gave myself (I experienced heat damage last year and cut random parts of my hair). I made my appointment weeks in advance, then it was rescheduled for a week later. Then the day of, I get a call that said if I can't come in 2 hours earlier, it was going to be canceled. Totally inappropriate! The front desk person was SO rude. If I wasn't so overdue for one and had plans to actually see people the next week, I wouldn't have rearranged my business meetings. I came to Hiwot Studio for a cut and blow dry and will definitely be coming back! Hiwot Studio is part of Symmetry Salon, and the salon did a great job of enforcing responsible coronavirus practices. When I arrived, the receptionist had me sign on to an iPad using a stylist that had been sanitized. She then took my temperature and had me fill out a questionnaire regarding any potential COVID19 symptoms. I was required to call the front desk before I entered the salon and was reminded to wear a mask, all of which made me feel safe. Hiwot went out of her way to make sure I was comfortable and continually checked in with me to ensure that she wasn't cutting off too much and that I was happy with what she was doing- something that I haven't experienced much with other stylists. She was efficient but careful, and my hair feels so much healthier now. Hiwot was gentle and professional, and I would highly recommend getting a cut or style with her. She is so great at manifesting what you've imagined for your hair, but will also offer suggestions to keep your hair healthy and maintained between appointments.
