My check engine light on my 2012 Nissan Sentra commuter car came on while driving and there was a sound coming from my muffler. I took the car in on a Monday morning and approx. 2 hours later, I received a call with a diagnosis. I needed a tune-up and an engine coil. I out the quote into ChatGOT just to see if it was a reasonable amount and it was indeed. When they were installing the spark plugs, they notice oil in some gasket so I got that as well. I also got an oil change since it was close to time. All work was complete around 5:00pm, but since they close at 5:30pm I went the following morning to pick up my car. If I could rate 0 stars I would. I got my timing belt done here and had to bring it back 3 times because it was making a whiny noise after. Each time they told me it was normal to do that for a few weeks after. I kept taking it back and the third time they said they had to loosen it cause it was too tight. After that I had problems with my car stalling. I also found out from many mechanics that it is actually NOT normal for a car to make a noise after timing belt is changed and that means they did it wrong. The owner seems like a nice guy sure but he can't admit to doing something wrong and taking accountability, they rather do a half ass job and try to get you from coming back to their shop. I would never go here again. They need to stick to doing oil changes if they don't know how to do bigger jobs where they are charging a lot of money but not doing them right and not giving you a refund. Would recommend never going here, even just for an oil change they might put bad oil in your car who knows. read more

However, a month and a half later the metallic clunking noise returns - goddammit! - but I'm not quick to judge: as a professional who works with mechanical equipment daily, I recognize that despite modern manufacturing concision, the integrity of some parts can simply break with the barest of use. When I brought my car in, there was an issue with their system and they couldn't find the original quote, but they were nice enough to still honor it. Super unfortunate that the mechanic I am walking distance from is not an up an up guy. I took my vw over there after hearing some screeching. Jose told me that in addition to the breaks needing to be replaced there were a bunch of other items that needed to be addressed. I trusted that he knew what he was talking about so I agreed to do the work. I asked if I could do part of the work a couple of weeks later which he assured me I could and pay the balance we had agreed to. When I came back he told me he made a mistake with the quote and it was $200 more. When I agreed to meet him in the middle for his clerical error he said I didn't actually need the remainder of the work but he wanted to see if I was going to work with him on it. I expressed that this was shady to quote me on a job he said I ultimately didn't need. He agreed that it was shady. I refrained from writing this review as he is a local business in the hood but took the car back to explain that although I had spent $1k with him inclusive of the breaks being fixed that the Break Wear and Parking break lights were activating one one week after the job had been done. When bringing it back I was told that they only did the back breaks and that the front are no basically worn down so I'm going to have to go to an entirely different mechanic. Very frustrated that I thought I could give JT Automotive all of my future business and now I have to start fresh with someone else I won't be able to now get a bulk discount with.
