Came here for the first time for a wedding so I understand it's not a typical situation to be serving an extra large group for the 10 course meal, but the service was not good. We had to do a lot of the set up ourselves beforehand, and the servers were often taking away plates of food before they were even finished. The food itself was not the best either, I've definitely had better at other Chinese seafood restaurants.

Reading through the other reviews, I think we got lucky with our visit and I'll take it! We came on a Sunday at 11am (party of 4). I found parking right away and they seated us almost immediately close to the Bay view windows. It was super busy with people waiting outside and inside was loud and lively (just how you want a dim sim place to be)! Inside is pretty nice and the view is honestly worth it. We ordered the dim sum classics: siu mai, ha gow, rice rolls, chicken feet, ma lai go, beef balls, salted egg yolk lava buns. Everything was honestly solid and portions were bigger than I expected. The dim sum menu is also pretty vast, but some classic dishes have different names so always ask the server. We also got some Chinese herb and fermented rice wine soup.....so good and a lot of chicken in it. Total for our party of 4 came out to be $105 (including their 16% service charge). Honestly not bad at all for the food we got (not all pictured), the fast service, and great views. This might be my new dim sum spot on the Peninsula! I'd definitely come again for dim sum at around 11am, because by the time we left at 12:30ish it was SUPER busy!

Came here to celebrate my mom's 97th birthday. We had a feast of cucumber and black fungus appetizers, Maine lobster on a bed of longevity egg noodles (ee mein), sticky rice with chicken (the sticky rice could be stickier), honey walnuts with prawns, steamed copper rock cod in a clay pot, pea sprouts with enoki mushrooms, tofu with tender greens, house soup, a delicious whole suckling pig that had crispy skin and red eyes that lit up! Impressive dish! The dinner was topped off with red bean soup and the longevity buns with red bean paste inside! The presentation was phenomenal. We sat by the windows that overlooked the water. At a distance, we could see the planes lining up and preparing to take off at SF airport. On the other side of the room was a huge TV screen where people could watch the FIFA World Cup. The manager, Danny, played the Happy Birthday song that blared from the screen much to our surprise! Wonderful ambience. Free parking on an open lot. No corkage fee. Private rooms upstairs. See the manager Danny for your dining details. We'll be back!

I came here for a banquet and the food was really good. The culling pig was the star of the night. Crispy skin and tender meat. All the food came out relatively fast. The interior is comfortable and a generic Chinese style restaurant. In the daytime they do have window seating that can view airplanes taking off from SFO. The service was good and our food came out a respectable time. I have also come here for dim sum and it was not bad.

This fish looks like it was in a car accident. How does this get served at the banquet table for a party of 10?

Lovely view overlooking water and SFO. Canto food here there's nothing special. Flavors did not pop. Some dishes at our banquet table were only semi-clean but at least the bus boy switched it out upon request.

Fantastic service, great quality yum cha, and only a 10 minute wait on a Sunday. My husband and I visited to try out some of our favorite dim sum items, and Pearl didn't disappoint. Don't expect 100% cleanliness or the traditional carts, but you do get piping hot dishes and welcoming service. Watching the planes land at SFO added to the experience.

Kind of disappointed of the food quality that it dropped since my last visit. Came with a group of friends on a Sunday lunch. We decided to come here because we had good experiences previously, but this time was a super disappointed experience for all of us. First of all, food quality. The colored shrimp dumplings were ugly and not appealing at all. Used way too much artificial coloring. See the photo for more details and it was $10, and not tasty. Not worth the price. We also ordered another veggie dumplings and the wrap (outside part) was super bland and mushy. Very disappointed. The cilantro rice roll was lack of flavor, too thick and bland. We wanted to order roasted pigeon and we were told that they were sold out due to the bbq department was already closed, and it was at 12 pm on a Sunday. That's totally fine if they were sold out. But when we asked the waiter about it, his attitude was just being rude and didn't seem care, or gave us a feeling of "this is none of his business". I used to like this place for its service and food. But not anymore... will not come back again and will no longer recommend to my friends.

I went to lunch with colleagues hoping HL Peninsula Pearl would fulfill my desire for tasty dim sum and my experience was mixed. The venue is gorgeous (5/5; high ceilings, chandeliers, amazing views of SFO), the service was mediocre (3/5; our order was taken quickly after we completed writing it. We had to keep asking for things such as knives and bowls but we were accommodated and ultimately one of the dishes they brought out was incorrect despite me telling them they put it in their system wrong...now for the food. We went a bit wild and ordered the following (let's just say we had tons left over): -steamed surf clam w/ vermiccelli in galic sauce (3.5/5; clams tasted decent but I didn't love the texture. clams paired well with noodles and sauce -duo egg fried rice (4/5; my group enjoyed this dish. Large portion) -signature fried rice noodles (4.25/5; good portion and lots of seafood/meat. flavor was good but nothing amazing and quite a good value.) Note, we didn't order this dish but it was beside the dish we ordered on the list/menu and they didn't/couldn't change the order despite letting them know within minutes... -chicken feet in herbal broth (3.75/5; the chicken feet were cooked well and the broth was nice but I was expecting pan fried chicken feet, which i would have preferred. The broth was herbal and comforting) -fried crispy turnip cake in XO sauce (4.5/5; quite nice. crispy and satisfying) -chicken in honey pepper sauce (3/5; sauce left a lot to be desired. Chicken was juicy and cooked well though) -sautéed chinese bocolli (4/5; standard and simple but good) -bbq pork rice noodle rolls (4/5; pretty good. Nice pairing btw the bbq pork and rice noodle), -crispy wild rice shrimp noodle rolls (5/5; my favorite dish. The shrimp were fried which was a nice textural contrast with the rice noodle. It came in a good sauce) -steamed shrimp dumpling (5/5; exactly as advertised. Big, juice, delicious) -siu mai (3.75/5; the flavor for these was good but I feel they were too big to enjoy comfortably in one bite. Not my favorite shu mai) -steamed bbc pork buns (didn't try but my group enjoyed) -Portuguese backed custard tarts (4/5; not too sweet and satisfying. Interesting texture.) -parboiled tripe (4/5; tripe was cooked very well and tender but the sauce was underwhelming Overall, the cook on most of these dishes was spot on but the flavoring left some to be desired. I might come back but I'm definitely still in search of a go-to dim sum spot.

Good food, great view, decent service. Came for lunch, table of 6. Massive portions, fancy presentation and pretty good taste. Didn't bring some of the items we marked but maybe bc we already had so much food. Slightly on the higher end and automatic gratuity included. Ample parking lot but fills up quick so come early. First time here but pretty good and would definitely come back!

One of the go-to dim sum spots in the Bay Area with classic Cantonese dishes and great for family meals! Food was plated beautifully and was hot and fresh. My favorite was the oysters - tender flesh, not fishy at all, paired well with the sauce and green onions. I also really liked the dumplings covered with pumpkin puree sauce as it was such a unique combination of sweetness and savory that wasn't too overpowering on either flavor. My family and I went on a Monday afternoon and got seated fairly quickly. They are very efficient with seating. You get a number and must respond when called, otherwise your spot will be given to others. Food came out fast and servers move quickly. The location is also amazing, with stunning coastal views. You can really see airplanes flying in and out of SFO right from the oceanside location. Overall, would definitely come again!

The restaurant has a huge space and it is a banquet as well. We went on a busy Saturday lunch hour that's only until 2:30 pm. Service was rushed and most the servers looked stressed. I believe there was a wedding that Saturday evening so I see why they were rushing us to pay and eat. Food is delicious and came out so fast. Some of the servers looked mad at us when we just asked for water and forks? They only gave us Jasmine tea but it took awhile for them to get our table water. I would not recommend coming on a Saturday lunch hour. Maybe we'll come back on a weekday.

We came with a family of twelve with advanced reservations, with an automatic surcharge for a large party. The dishes were all tasty and we had a good time eating the great dishes, and catching up on family news. The dishes came out fairly quickly via the forget wait staff, they filled out teapot whenever it became empty, and the dishes were all pretty delicious. These are the following dishes that we ordered and all enjoyed: 1) Sautéed beef tenderloin 2) While steamed chicken matsutake 3) Braised bamboo fungus and dried scallops with sugar peas 4) Braised tofu puffs and fish belly in black pepper sauce 5) Salted seasonal greens 6) Sweet and sour chicken with pineapple 7) Beef short ribs in sizzling plate 8) Fish Maw and chicken house soup 9) Sea urchin and dried scallop wild grain fried rice 10). The restaurant ran out of our last order, so we didn't get to try it out: Stuffed eggplant iron flat pan fried in Teriyaki Sauce I read dime other reviews, it's hard for restaurants to stock up on ingredients when they don't know what will be ordered. Over ordering fresh food can break a restaurant's bottom line. I tend to agree with the cook staff that running out of ingredients is better than over buying and not getting enough orders. Since the restaurant is a very large square footage, it probably costs a lot in rent, plus you have to pay the premium for the chefs to keep them on board. I'm from Los Angeles, and restaurants go in and out of business in the 626 area all of the time, so I know how hard it must be to keep up the quality and quantity of food balanced with the total cost of running the restaurant. You need to keep an open perspective on these things. The food quality of our dishes was excellent, we enjoyed the meal thoroughly and didn't have much leftovers to take home. I recommend you do try out this restaurant menu for a nice dining experience with your family, I doubt that you will be disappointed. We went home with happy tummies.

Came for DIMSUM and it wowed me. The delicious flavors and the view is great! The parking is hard but you can drive around and find one. Service is fast and they have a giant menu.

Is it good? Is it the same as the one HL in South San Francisco?

I would say the one HL in Burlingame has better food and service, mainly because it is smaller and doesn't feel like a giant warehouse converted into a restaurant. Generally, the food comes out consistently promptly and at a warmer temperature,… Read more

We walked into a spacious dining room with views overlooking the bay, creating a more special atmosphere than a typical dim sum restaurant. The location near the airport also added a unique touch, with views of planes taking off and landing while we ate, a detail that made the meal feel distinct from the usual dim sum experience. The room feels open and comfortable, the kind of place suited for family meals, celebrations, or a longer weekend dim sum gathering. The dim sum menu covers many of the classics, with carts bringing out dishes throughout the dining room and making the experience feel traditional and lively. We tried the har gow, shu mai, BBQ pork buns, and turnip cakes, all of which were solid staples that made the restaurant a good choice for a full dim sum spread. The har gow had a thin, translucent wrapper and a generous shrimp filling, and the shu mai were well seasoned and held together nicely. The seafood-focused dishes also fit naturally with the restaurant's identity, with fresh ingredients and larger banquet-style dishes available beyond the usual dim sum selections. The dinner menu added another reason to visit, especially for larger groups. The Peking duck was a standout, with crispy skin, tender meat, and the classic combination of steamed buns, hoisin sauce, and fresh accompaniments that made each bite feel balanced. Seafood dishes like crab with ginger and scallions highlighted the restaurant's focus on Cantonese flavors, with the ginger providing a clean contrast to the sweet crab meat. Fried rice and wok-fried dishes provided satisfying options to round out the meal, each one arriving hot and well seasoned. Desserts were also worth saving room for. The sesame balls had a crisp exterior with a chewy texture and warm black sesame filling, while the Portuguese egg tarts finished the meal with a flaky pastry and smooth custard center. We appreciated these small details, as they helped make the meal feel complete rather than just focused on the main dishes. Service was generally attentive and the large dining room made it easier to accommodate groups compared to smaller dim sum spots. The staff handled the steady flow of diners efficiently, and the food came out at a good pace even when the restaurant was busy. Prices can vary depending on seafood selections, but the combination of food, space, and waterfront views makes Grand Harbor a good option when you want a more relaxed Cantonese dining experience. It is especially worth considering for dim sum when you want both the traditional atmosphere and a scenic setting.

The first thing I noticed was that there was really not many pieces of ribs, maybe they made the ribs portion smaller to make room for the lap cheung I ordered? The dish description also says that it includes taro, but I didn't have a single piece of taro in my pot. Strangely, although this place seems to share a kitchen with Social Eatery, the rice was cooked much more poorly here, which is obviously a shame for a place specializing in clay pot rice. It seems like the rice had too much water added, so it was a bit overcooked - you couldn't feel the "single grain" mouthfeel texture you should expect from well-cooked, high quality rice. Since the rice was too mushy, it obviously didn't crisp well either. Though it had some small amount of bits stuck to the edges of the metal (not clay!) pot, it was definitely not the super crispy, well browned "faan ziu" I expect, and not at all like the pictures featured in some earlier reviews of this restaurant.
