DO NOT GO HERE A couple of weeks ago, I called to schedule an appointment for my first prenatal visit. Before booking, I specifically asked if they accepted my insurance, and they told me they did. When my husband and I arrived for the appointment today, I asked the receptionist to once again confirm that they accepted my insurance. She checked, then even called someone else to verify. After confirming that they did, I paid my $50 copay. We sat down to complete the paperwork. About 15 minutes later, another employee came out and asked to speak with me. She informed me that they do not accept my insurance. I was shocked and explained that I had now been told twice that they did. Her response was that "it's hard to tell" and that "we can't always know." I'm sorry, but that is unacceptable. The fact that a doctor's office "can't always know" if someone's insurance is accepted is absurd. Verifying insurance coverage is a basic responsibility of a medical office. The fact that it's "hard to tell" for the very people whose job it is to verify whether they accept your insurance is ridiculous. It is literally their job to know how to confirm this. These statements do not inspire confidence in their ability to manage something as important as patient care. She also tried to justify the mistake by telling me their paperwork states they aren't responsible for knowing whether their practice accepts your insurance. Since I had just carefully read through the paperwork, I knew that wasn't true. I asked her to show me. She flipped through the pages, quietly read the section to herself, then simply said, "Well, anyways..." when she realized it didn't say what she claimed. I'm relieved I found out they don't accept my insurance before my appointment. However, I had already waited two weeks for this appointment. My husband took time off work to come with me. I've been experiencing spotting during my pregnancy and was anxious to be evaluated and make sure everything was okay. Because this office failed to verify my insurance correctly from the beginning, I'm now back at square one and will likely have to wait even longer to establish prenatal care elsewhere. A couple of additional notes: * This doctor's office was also on a list of providers who took my insurance, which I received from my insurance company * What the paperwork actually says is that they aren't responsible if outside services, such as lab work or imaging, aren't covered by your insurance, and that they only bill insurance for one service per appointment, meaning additional services, such as a wellness exam and an ultrasound, may not be covered. As I was reading those policies before learning they didn't accept my insurance, they already seemed sketchy and problematic to me. It felt like being a patient at this practice would mean having to triple check every decision they made to make sure you didn't get stuck with unexpected bills. * While I was waiting, I was also told that they hadn't even scheduled the ultrasound that was the primary reason for my visit. Their plan was to have me see the provider first and then figure out the ultrasound afterward. That only added to my impression that this office is disorganized and poorly managed. * After leaving, I had to call the office myself to ask how I would be refunded the $50 copay they charged me before realizing they didn't accept my insurance. We will see how long it takes for that to be resolved. This experience was incredibly stressful at a time when I needed reassurance and medical care. I would not recommend this practice. read more

I hesitate writing this review because I love Dr Howe and have always allowed the times I've been disappointed to be ignored due to my positive experiences with her. Granted I am worked up due to frustration and run around with multiple different ER visits and Urgent Cares, but the bedside manner I have experienced in my last few visits here has been incredibly disappointing. I've had issues with insurance billing, wait times, etc. I came in for a visit following what was believed to be a ruptured ovarian cyst after my first ever visit to the Emergency Room. I walked in to the ultrasound with Katie to be greeted with "are we here for pregnancy?" - there was no viewing of my chart to even see what I was in office for the day prior nor to mention if I was struggling with fertility issues. Notes from my visit the day prior were not complete. A full ultrasound was done and I was left covered in gel on the table with no napkins or ways to clean myself off after she was finished. Comments were made by the nurse on my first visit, after losing 13 pounds (I was barely 135 and 5'8") and now am down to 122 pounds due to a severe trauma. For a women's clinic, the lack of sensitivity to very triggering topics was incredibly disappointing. I could hear the PA & ultrasound tech discussing my health and findings in the hallway loud enough for the remainder of the office to hear, including about how I voiced my concerns over Katie's bedside manner. I have a follow up appointment scheduled but after that, I won't be returning. Such a shame. I love Dr. Howe but the remainder of my experience has tainted my desire to return or recommend this office any further. read more

Dr. Howe is, without a doubt, the best OBGYN I have ever had. She delivered both of my healthy baby girls, and I will always be incredibly grateful to her for the care she provided during such important moments in my life. What makes my experience special is how I first met her. During my first pregnancy (2022), she wasn't my routine doctor... it just so happened that she was the on-call doctor the night I went into labor. Looking back, I truly feel lucky that she was there that day, because it gave me the chance to meet the wonderful, caring person she is. That experience alone made such a lasting impression on me that I knew I had to switch to her practice for my second pregnancy (2026) and I'm so glad I did! From the very beginning of this second journey, she has shown an unmatched level of dedication, compassion, and expertise. What truly sets Dr. Howe apart is how deeply she cares about her patients. She is exceptionally knowledgeable and always took the time to answer my questions thoroughly, making sure I felt informed and confident every step of the way. During my second pregnancy, which was unfortunately high-risk, her calm, skilled approach helped guide me through what could have been an overwhelming experience. One moment that really reflects her commitment was when she personally called me on the morning of my delivery while I was already at the hospital. She checked in, reassured me, and walked me through the induction plan for the day. That level of attentiveness and genuine care is rare. Dr. Howe goes above and beyond for her patients, and I cannot recommend her highly enough. read more

This is my second review of this practice. And, it appears the first review was removed since I can no longer find it. Still So very disappointed in the office staff and director of this practice. It is obvious that patient communication is not a priority, nor has it ever been a priority. Years of patient reviews are evidence of gross neglect of basic services and processes. I have been patiently waiting after sending three messages through the Athena portal, text message and email. No one has responded. It has been three weeks. Two days ago I just happened to be on the Hoag campus for a different doctor. So, I go over to HM Medical and speak with the front desk secretary IN PERSON. I describe my issues and concerns. She sees my messages. She writes a sticky note and says she will hand deliver my message and ensures me someone will call that day. No one has called. No one has messaged. No one has provided the common decency of basic communication. I wish Dr. Maslovaric was with a different practice so I could get the basic communication that is afforded to all patients. The director of this practice makes claims about not having enough staff, or being so busy. But, when I went in to the office two days ago, all three front desk secretaries were on their personal cell phones watching videos, playing games and doing nothing professional. Terribly disappointing. Feeling so disgusted. Don't waste your time. Find another practice. read more

I have been a patient since before Dr Howe bought the practice - 28+ years. In my last appointment in 2021 everything went well, except they couldn't help Me with menopause. However today it was a different experience. I don't understand why Doctors or PAs can't be on time and they think it is ok to make patients wait 45mins to an hour before being seen. They ask for us to be 15min early but yet they don't care about time! If I was 45mins late for My appointment with my CFO I would be fired. Not ok! In addition, in 2021, I was told that they did not focus on Menopause and that I needed to go to a specialist if I needed help! Now at my visit they seem to be all about it! Which is a bit too late! Looks like I will be switching doctors as they don't seem to care about loyalty and patient care. Very disappointing. read more

Let me start by saying I have seen Dr. Howe in the past and have loved the care she provided. This review is solely for her front desk people and billing department. I called to make an appointment when I found out I was pregnant, I confirmed with not one but two office staffs that the office was in network before proceeding with my appointment. I provided my insurance information and member ID and was set to go. Everything went smoothly at the appointment and I enjoyed her PA Nina. Set up my next few appointments and was set to go. This is where everything went downhill- A few weeks after the appointment, I received a bill over $1,000 for my appointment because guess what, the office is now out of network with my insurance. This included an additional $220 "office visit" for dropping off an urine sample that I had to redo because the office contaminated the first one. During this "visit" I was handed the sample cup by the front desk, went straight to the restroom, produced my sample and left. I guess when billing insurance, $220 is the going rate for using their rest room? I called the office and left several voicemails. Once I finally got one of the front desk girls on the phone I was told that the lady I previously spoke to made a mistake and they don't take my insurance but offered a 20% "out of network discount". I was also told like a child that I signed a form that stated I would pay my bill if they were out of network and not covered by my insurance. I thanked her for the reminder and mentioned that I had no problem paying the bill for the service I received but it's a bit of a shady practice to tell a patient they were in network when they were in fact out of network. Being a high risk pregnancy, I decided this was not worth getting upset with right now and decided to wait a few weeks to pay and see the 20% discount show up. Anyone surprised that the discount didn't show up? I sent 8 emails through the patient portal to the office, all were ignored but I did continue to receive notices, emails and calls that my bill was past due. They're super quick to send you a payment reminder but too busy to help when a bill is incorrect. I was able to call and speak with someone and argue about the $220 rest room fee which was removed from the bill after it was confirmed I didn't do a height, weight and blood pressure measurement. Almost 100+ days of being labeled "past due", I decided to pay the remaining balance and be rid of this poorly run business. Moral of the story to anyone going here or any new moms that just want to enjoy their pregnancy- do your due diligence and call your insurance provider to verify if this doctor is in network or out. If you go off of the untrained and ill informed office staff, they will tell you you're in network just to bill you every penny later. Again, the interaction I've had with the doctors and PA's have been great but unfortunately since this is set up as a business, any poor business practices will fall on the owner. If anyone is interested- UCI's hospital is better equipped to deal with any high risk pregnancy and has a higher ranked NICU department. UPDATE: After reading the response I am severely disappointed we needed to disclose my insurance carrier. While I understand a company name is not private information, I am a private person and did not want my insurance company looped in. The issue here was being told AT THE TIME OF MY APPOINTMENT that Blue Shield was in network. All messages were sent through their new Athena billing system- all messages were ignored Hopefully everyone can see from the response, the communication is the issue here. I started review with I loved the doctor and PA- it is the communication that needs improvement. It's unfortunate that a patient needs to result to a YELP review to get a 24 hour response when over a handful of messages in their "secure" system go un-responded to. read more

Very disappointed with this doctor's office. I tried to make an appointment and called twice, plus sent several text messages over a couple of weeks ago, and still have not received any response. I had a referral placed for them and since they do not allow online scheduling, I called during normal business hours. It automatically went to a recording, so I left a message. I never record a call back. They had a text option, no response to that either. An additional 3 phone calls and voicemails were left during normal business hours over the course of a few weeks, to which I received zero response yet again. I dread what the actual patient care would be like if a simple call to schedule an appointment can't be made. read more

Extremely frustrating experience. I have contacted this office multiple times by phone and email trying to get proper access to the patient portal. Despite several attempts, the staff has been unable to grant me the correct access, and as a result I cannot view my test results. I have left multiple messages and sent several emails, and no one has returned my calls. This level of communication is unacceptable, especially for an OB office where timely access to results matters. I am still asking for someone from the office to call me to resolve this issue. Long overdue- Dr.Howe is absolutely amazing, she really cares about her patients and has gone through 2 babies and a DNC with me. I started seeing MH Medical in 2019, and just had my second child with them this Sept. I got to see a lot from their PA Jennifer- she was amazing and always made me feel comfortable, heard and had great feedback for me. While you won't always see "your doctor"for each visit, you will still get to know each of them before delivery and I always felt like I was in great care regardless; and knowing that's because Howe was in delivering the babies herself so she couldn't also be in the office every day - so I knew I wasn't going to have a stranger walk in to deliver my baby was what really mattered. I will say- they have done an overhaul on front desk, and it's become much easier to get ahold of them, and the staff I've interacted with has been great. Special shout out to Katie the ultrasound tech- she blows all other ultrasound techs away (I've seen quite a few and none have compared). They also have a new appt app that lets you see everything you book, has your billing and lets you message the Dr.s directly- I've always had a quick response from both Howe and Masloveric. My first delivery was grueling- but Howe checked in constantly to help things along see how it was going, unfortunately since it was 36hrs she wasn't able to stay the full time since Drs need to sleep eventually, and had to put me in the hands of Neepert (wonderful doctor also- was with HM at the time, but isn't with the practice now, she is now a part of Hoag delivery). This second time I had Masloveric (only one doctor is on call for the hospital not both) and she did a great job- even guessed the timing of the delivery which I couldn't believe; she estimated my daughter to be born between 3-5pm and she came at 4! Long winded and long stories short- they have really seen me through a lot, miscarriages and live births - and should we try for number 3 I'll be coming back yet again to be in their care. They have a really wonderful team backing them up these days and really strive to be there for their clients from what I've experienced. read more

Back again with my 2nd pregnancy! If you're reading this and it's your first pregnancy, and you're very eager to know baby's gender, trust me when I say that you can wait until 13 weeks to find out at your appointment. Your first appointment is roughly around 6-9 weeks, and your 13 week ultraound appointment comes pretty fast for Katie to be able to tell you gender. If you hate getting blood tests let me tell you how many you'll have: about 6 blood work orders to have completed after your first appointment (only one needle prick is needed to get them completed), then a 1st trimester screening at 10 weeks blood work, a 2nd trimester screening blood work, and finally a glucose testing blood work around 26 weeks that will require 3 needle pricks. This time around I knew and accepted that getting an appointment as well as the wait time to be seen would take awhile, but it's worth it. Halfway through this pregnancy I did notice that it was more difficult to call the office as they were understaffed. The staff does call the day before your appointment to confirm, which is the time to speak to them about anything that you may possibly need to speak to them about. If you need to contact the office for any reason, I'd definitely advise contacting them through their patient portal as they respond pretty quickly. It was super sweet that 2 years later, both Dr Maslovaric and Dr Howe, as well as one of the PAs remembered me from my first pregnancy. They all took great care of me and eased my biggest concern of whether or not I would deliver early, Dr Howe and I were on the same page guessing that I would deliver around 37 weeks as this wasn't my first pregnancy. I ended up delivering at 35 weeks...in the passenger seat of my car! Long story short: we were on the way to the hospital and there was traffic. After pulling into the womens pavilion and the NICU team took my son, I was admitted to deliver the placenta, and Dr Maslovaric stopped by to congratulate me, as she had been the Dr to deliver my 1st son 2 years ago. Dr Howe stopped by just before I was discharged. All this to say, HM medical takes great care of their patients and they are absolutely worth the wait to be seen! The Drs and PAs are super knowledgeable and they will for sure answer any questions or concerns you have! Dr Howe in particular will make sure you've got any and all prescriptions needed prescribed to ensure a healthy pregnancy. If I end up finding out I'm expecting another child, I'll be back! And hopefully if I do have another child I'll make it to the hospital instead of being stuck in traffic read more

I've had almost a year to think about this review because I didn't want to write it while I was too emotional or frustrated. I went to HM Medical for my second pregnancy last year. I, too, had a difficult time with some of the front staff, scheduling, and lack of returned phone calls. I often had to call the office myself to confirm my appointments and one time, an appointment was canceled and no one from the office notified me! I was only told it was canceled because I called in. I had a scheduled C-section with Dr. Howe and it was nearly impossible to get onto her schedule before my surgery (they had me scheduled with Dr. M who is great!) but I emailed Dr. Howe begging to be added to her schedule so I could at least meet her before she operated on me. Thankfully, she was able to add me to her appointment schedule but it was a very stressful time for me because of the lack of clear communication from the office. Make no mistake though...Dr. Howe is an excellent physician. My son aspirated meconium during my c-section and she was so calm, cool and collected - my husband and I were so impressed with her. She is exactly the type of person that you want taking care of you and your child. I really enjoyed my experience with her and the rest of the medical staff but I do think improvements can be made with the office staff/phone system/scheduling/and overall customer service. read more

I've been a patient at this practice since moving to California in 2017, and I can't say enough great things about them! They are consistently professional, friendly, and incredibly efficient--appointments always run on time, and the staff is welcoming and helpful. Most recently, I had a follow-up appointment with Dr. Howe to address menopause and hormone-related concerns, and I was absolutely blown away by her level of care. She took the time to address every single one of my concerns, never rushed me, and even stayed beyond the allotted time to ensure I felt heard and supported. It's rare to find a doctor who genuinely listens, explains things thoroughly, and makes you feel like a priority. Dr. Howe is truly the best! If you're looking for a compassionate and knowledgeable provider, I highly recommend this office. read more

Couldn't have asked for better care! All of the providers in this office really take their time to listen to your questions. I never once felt rushed or like my questions were too dumb. They really lead with compassion and have extensive knowledge and experience. Around 10am, I went in for an appointment and asked Dr M about what I suspected might have been my water breaking (it was). She talked me through it and excitedly said I think you're in labor. Later that night, Dr Howe visited me to check in at the hospital and once again showed so much warmth and compassion. And by the next morning, Dr M came in just in time to deliver my baby! I was a little apprehensive about having a stranger deliver my baby if neither Dr Howe or Dr M were available overnight, so I was so relieved to have Dr M step in so early in the morning! Then Dr Howe was there again later on to check in. All that is to say, they really care about their patients and go the extra mile to be there for you. And since they switched to the new system, communication has been a breeze! Dr M responded to all my messages promptly and scheduling/reminders were a breeze. I also want to add that during my pregnancy, I frequently saw PA Nina Tran. She was so enthusiastic and kind every time I rattled off a list of questions and discussed symptoms. I always felt like I was in great hands under her care, even if I wasn't seeing one of the doctors. Going to HM was one of the best decisions I made! read more

They sent me a bill for payments I already made a year ago because they have a new billing company claiming they made "many attempts" to collect this amount when I'm fact there were no such attempts because I always paid for my copay at the time of my visit. Totally careless and poor management. I tried to give them some time to figure out their mistake. Instead, I get a letter that my file is going to collections. I made an appointment and as a new Patient I had to wait 2 months for my appointment which was fine with me, however the day of my appointment as I am driving towards the doctor's office, I receive a voicemail stating that unfortunately doctor had to cancel my appointment due to an emergency. Okay that's fine and I can understand that, but at least have the courtesy of giving me another appointment. Don't just tell me I can go on waiting list. After 2 months waiting? ? Not acceptable! How do I know you won't cancel again. I did get a call from the office a week or two later and they had a cancellation for a time spot that was in another two weeks in the future. Seriously? They should have a better system set so patients who have waited long don't get tossed aside. Well, not a big deal. There are other doctors offices who appreciate my business. As a response to your message, Dr. Howe. I used to work in healthcare billing and am well aware of why you chose to bill these codes to maximize your profit at my expense. I have been pregnant four times and you are the first provider to not bill OB codes for the first visit under six weeks. I have never paid one penny out of pocket, and if this is the case and the solution is so simple, why would your office manager not call me back to explain this and discuss? The money is easy to pay. Communication is what's important. You seem to be billing creatively to gain more money from insurance companies and patients. And you can 100% Bill OB codes to utilize patients OB benefits which are 100% covered by their insurance, you are choosing not to. A considerate response to this message would be, "thank you for all your efforts in reaching out. I apologize for the miscommunication. You are a valued patient. I will make sure my office manager calls you tomorrow, and we can take care of this issue and then hopefully we can gain in your business back." I'm not sure how to get the attention of the office manager, Jenelle, and the doctors of HM MEDICAL. They wrongfully billed me for my first OB visit in May of last year with them. Instead of using OB billing codes, that would be 100% covered by my insurance, they used other codes so that I am charge on top of my insurance. I have reached out countless times to speak to the office manager about getting this bill remedied over the past year, and still, never received a call back. Now they have sent this bill to debt collections. Even though, I as the patient, have actively try to remedy this issue with them. I have sent so many patients to them and this is how they return the favor. I am absolutely floored. I will be contacting the Better Business Bureau and filing a claim against the doctors and his practice. Their actions and disregard for patients is outrageous. I will say, Dr. Howe and Malsrveic are excellent providers (if you ever see them). Often times you are seeing PA this practice. I did switch providers during my first trimester with my third baby, due to the office staff and management issues with scheduling appointments. Since I was a high-risk case and required a C-section I wanted to make sure that my appointments and C-section would be scheduled appropriately. read more

I have been a patient at HM Medical for many, many years. My most recent annual visit with Dr. Maslovaric was AWFUL! Dr. Maslovaric was rude and dismissive. As other patients have commented, I never received Orders for lab work, colonoscopy, or a referral to see a Dermatologist regarding a cyst on my stomach. There has been zero follow-up. After my first visit as a first time mom, it's a lot of information. They said that they will send me to Quest to get lab work done. But they didn't give me a reminder card or instructions on what week to go, the address, what type of blood work to expect etc. Quest requires you to book your appointment online but do I do a morning or afternoon appointment? Idk so I called Quest to ask but they don't have humans. I drove to Quest to ask them if I need to fast for my appointment or not. Quest said that I need to ask HM medical. Obviously HM Medical is known for not answering calls so this is becoming frustrating at this point. Anyways it was a lot of back and forth that all could have been avoided if the from desk gave all the info I needed to begin with. I don't know what I don't know, so I'd expect the professionals who do know to advise. Also when you first go in they give you a novel of paperwork to read and sign. AS A FIRST TIME MOM. Some of that I expect to review with the doctor. Most of the paperwork is informational and I had to ask for copies. Idk I'd expect to have it nicely given to us in a folder because that is what I would do. For a nice newport office, I'd expect higher customer service. Client Portal. After my first appointment I kept getting texts saying I have tests results (I didn't take any tests). All mistake text messages. And then they deleted my account. I called them and they said they would get back to me. And then sent the account again but didn't call back to explain what happened. The PA and Ultrasound Tech were all very nice. Wow! I can't say enough about HM Medical and their entire staff. I found out I was pregnant in March of 2020 and was referred to come to HM Medical by a friend who also goes to them! I am SO happy I did! I was really nervous as this was my first pregnancy and was so scared for everything to come. From my first appointment with Dr. Neeper and Katie (ultrasound), they made me feel so calm about the entire process to come. Dr. Neeper is very thorough and explains everything you need to know, while making you feel extremely calm about everything. Every time I look forward to my appointments! All 3 Dr.'s are so sweet and very down to earth. They all go above and beyond. Their front desk staff & PA's are also so sweet. Katie (ultrasound tech) is the best! She truly would get excited to see the baby which would make my husband and myself excited too! She takes time to explain body parts and makes it really fun! During my pregnancy, I unfortunately had an emergency surgery at 25 weeks pregnant (on my ovary). Dr. Neeper was the one who conducted my surgery at Hoag. It was great to have her through my entire process, especially since I felt very comfortable with her. I knew I was in great hands and she took great care of me and my body/unborn baby. The surgery went well and I thank Dr. Neeper for everything! My baby was finally born at 39 weeks and 2 days on 11/13/21. These ladies were here every step of the way! They partner with Hoag Hospital right next-door. Dr Howe came and checked in on me the day after baby was born. Dr Neeper was on vacation in Hawaii at the time, and the moment she heard our baby was born, she called us to congratulate us (within the hour of baby being born!). Now talk about an incredible bond with a Dr.! I have never had such amazing bond/service from a Dr.'s office before. I am so glad I have HM Medical to go to. It makes me extremely excited to have another child. Thank you so much to the entire staff! read more

Candace Howe is the most inconsiderate doctor in the medical industry and her office falls far below standards. Howe consistently cancels on patients who have operations scheduled the same day regardless of how how much pain the patient is in. Against standard medical practice she does not have any backup doctors/partners that take patients who are canceled on. One example is Howe canceled an important operation an hour before it was scheduled to take place and left the patient in extreme pain with no option but to go to the ER. Howe didn't even offer next day appointments but instead wanted the patient to be in pain for 2 weeks until her next availability. They also don't answer their phones regardless of the level of emergency. I would recommend looking elsewhere. *Update How are are you "completely confused" when your office just called and threatened me saying all future appointments are canceled until I take down my review. For the last seven months of my daughter's pregnancy, I have listened to her repeatedly tell me how poor the office staff has been at your practice. This is her first pregnancy, and today, she was so upset she called me crying after her appointment. My daughter requires additional testing due to some concerns about her baby's size. She has been trying for almost a week to get the testing scheduled by your office staff. She has called them at least seven times, and the staff either sends the wrong codes for testing or doesn't send any requests at all. It is now very difficult to find an opening for the testing before she is scheduled to give birth in just two weeks. This is not the first time the office staff has made these mistakes. They had her husband take the incorrect genetic test, and he had to come back and have the testing redone. Can you imagine how stressful this is for a first-time mother? Now, she is dealing with concerns about her pregnancy and has to tolerate office staff who can't get anything done for her. This is unacceptable. I have read several reviews that seem to state the same problems: no one answers the phone, appointments are not booked correctly, tests are not booked correctly, etc. Poor service cannot be tolerated when dealing with the health and well-being of a mother and her unborn baby. This is creating unnecessary stress for my daughter at a time when she shouldn't be exposed to stress. These problems need to be addressed and corrected immediately if you expect to continue to operate a medical practice. Follow-Up Post Dr. Howe was extremely attentive to my concerns and contacted me immediately to find out more about the situation. She was so concerned that she took matters into her own hands to resolve the situation and ensure that everything that needed to be done was being done. I feel so much better and appreciate her concern and assistance. My daughter is being cared for appropriately with Dr. Howe's oversight. I understand that insurance approval issues had a lot to do with the delays my daughter experienced, and I expect there will be improvements in front-office service with continued training. This was a difficult situation, but I can see by how Dr. Howe became involved and provided immediate resolutions that she truly cares about her patients and their families. Dr Howe and Dr Masalverich are excellent physicians through and through. As a physician myself, I can attest to this with 100 percent confidence. Their demeanor, their kindness and their abilities are all outstanding. I have gone through three pregnancies with this practice and every time I have felt that both Dr Howe and Masalverich treat me like family! They never answer the phone. We wanted to go with Dr. Howe because our fertility doctor recommended her. I do believe that she is a great doctor but after the first visit and checking our schedule for future appointments, we realized that we will not be able to meet Dr. Howe for many weeks. That was the first disappointment (Their PA is very nice) Second one is if you want to call them no one answers the phone. From the beginning of my pregnancy, the care team at this office have made me feel at ease. Each appointment was informative and we were listened to. I never once felt the stereotypical rush to get through an OB checkup that everyone talks about. The PAs and both OBs - Dr Masloveric and Dr Howe - are all amazing women who make you feel like you aren't alone in this process. Most of them have had their own children, so they can give you real life experience and help you make choices based on medical and real life information. I ended up being induced due to high blood pressure and Dr Howe was with us every step of the way. She performed my C-Section and held my hand as we made the big decision. This woman is a literal Angel on earth and I wouldn't have made it through labor without her. I received the best care here! The doctors are so relatable, really listen and truly care. The ultrasound tech was always so sweet and engaging and took her time with each scan. They made my whole first pregnancy process as seamless as possible. Dr M delivered my baby and Dr Howe visited me multiple times while I was in recovery in the hospital. I always felt like I was in good hands. It can be challenging to get through to them on the phone lines- but every time I would email the info address the doctors themselves would get back to me within 24 hrs answering any questions I had. The facility is beautiful and you cannot beat delivering at Hoag. Gorgeous ocean view rooms and very caring nurses. I would recommend HM medical to everyone for their OB needs! read more

I have remained a patient for all my OBGYN needs. Just had my second pregnancy and delivery with them - highly recommend for the best care. The former complaints have been rectified with their new patient portal system - I have loved being able to make my own appointments and message doctors directly. The billing system is easy on the portal. I also noticed there are no longer long wait times before appointments. Can't thank Dr Maslovaric and Dr Howe enough for helping to safely bring my 2nd baby into the world. read more

It is an immense privilege to have Dr. Howe as my OBGYN! As a patient of hers for many years now, I wanted to take this opportunity to give my highest recommendation to Dr. Howe and HM Medical as a whole (I have met Dr. Masloveric who is wonderful as well). Dr. Maslovaric and her team (especially Katie) are just the best! They are diligent, courteous, informative and were incredibly helpful in answering all my questions, and I usually have A LOT of questions. Dr. Maslovaric has been my doctor since 2019 when I was pregnant with my first, and I am now pregnant with baby no. 3. She delivered my second via c-section and I am hopeful she will be delivering my 3rd as well. It pains me to write this review, but this is a major issue that we have been having with HM medical since the start of my wife's care. Dr Howe and Maslovaric are EXCELLENT doctors and we have no complaints about them. Their level of care, attention to detail and compassion are on full display with every visit. This review is being written for the front office. They never answer their phones. EVER. We are lucky to get a hold of a live person when we call, but 99% of the time, they just don't pick up the phone. Appointment setting, test results, follow ups are a complete nightmare. UPDATE: i appreciate the answer from Dr Howe and understand her position and where she's coming from. Again, the medical team is fantastic. But, a suggestion, please work on the phone and front office to ensure patients are being attended to in a reasonable timeframe. Thank you. read more

I owe Jenn Rawson PAC my life because she saved my son's life. I underwent fertility treatment at a practice I will not name and they were not watching my progesterone levels closely. They were giving me vaginal suppositories and it was dangerously low. At this point I got in contact with Jenn Rawson who calmly guided me thru this precarious part of my pregnancy, got me progesterone in oil injections and my levels returned to normal. She continued to watch over me and my son for the duration of my pregnancy. If it wasn't for her interest, dedication, level thinking and resourcefulness, I am confident I would have miscarried again. She is exceptional, caring and dedicated. She is up to date on the latest information in obstetrics and gynecology. She treated me like I was family. She is our guardian angel and the reason my son is alive.
