That is when I was told about a $500 cancellation fee within two weeks, something that was never clearly communicated. My entire scheduling process was handled through text, not a single phone call, and even at my pre op appointment exactly two weeks before surgery, this fee was never mentioned. When I called, I was repeatedly told "it is the policy" without any real explanation. I asked to speak to a manager, and the assistant administrator, Shannon, called me back. Unfortunately, she was very difficult to deal with. Her tone was stern and dismissive, and I barely had a chance to explain my concerns before she said, "Angela, it is our policy," speaking slowly in a way that felt condescending. I explained that I was not calling to argue that they have policies. My concern was the lack of communication and the fact that everything was scheduled so close to that two week window. I asked to speak with the administrator since she reports to them, but she refused and said, "No, this is my job, and no one will be calling you back." At one point, she also said, "Well, I am going to charge your credit card on file," which was completely inappropriate. I fully understand that offices have policies, but this is surgery, clear communication matters. Patients should not be expected to rely on fine print from an initial visit when surgery was not even planned yet. Even on my preop, it was not mentioned. I do want to say Dr. Clark and Carrie have been great, but because of how this was handled, I will not be returning.

It came through in his confidence, his sincerity, his matter-of-fact demeanor, and his professionalism. He makes it clear that this isn't a game--this is his patient's life. I could tell that PA Carrie, who was very understanding, was really thinking about how to help me resolve my issues. Like most people I did a fair amount of research into picking a surgeon who had a good track record and also had done quite a few of these. Dr. Phan rose to the top because of his reviews and upon meeting him he exudes confidence and humility which is a rare combination in a physician. The procedure turned out great and you couldn't ask for a nicer more caring person than Dr Phan. His practice is what they call a concierge and for basically the price of a cup of coffee per day you get unbelievable access to him and the old adage you get what you pay for certainly applies. Two months post procedure all systems are go. I couldn't recommend him more highly. The support staff is a well oil machine and very peronable.

I had no problem with his accent. That is all for the positives. *If you value your healthy reproductive organs, be warned. This doctor seems a bit too eager to part you from them.* Despite no other patients, I waited a very long in the waiting room and again in the examination room. This gave me the opportunity to closely observe that his examination room was dirty, with dusty equipment, old dust on devices, between buttons, in corners. After sitting through all that, I was handed consent forms for an invasive biopsy without proper explanation. I protested. Only then the doctor came in and informed me he was diagnosing me with adenomyosis, just off a general ultrasound ordered by my PCP. He immediately pushed for a hysterectomy. When I said I still wanted children, he discouraged me heavily, saying I would have a hard time conceiving and then carrying a healthy pregnancy given my age (40) and the condition of my uterus. When I said my prev pregnancy was a quick natural conception and easy, he brushed it off as a fluke. Dr. M. kept pushing hysterectomy, telling me how skilled he was at performing it laparoscopically. I left the office confused. When I later requested an MRI (the gold standard for this diagnosis), it showed no indication of adenomyosis. The office still pushed for surgery, so I cut contact. Two years later, after unrelated surgery, pathology confirmed my uterus was completely healthy and capable of pregnancy. Dr. Marinescu's rushed diagnosis and mistaken pregnancy prognosis (the claim I couldn't not conceive) was a factor in my decision to include hysterectomy in my other procedure - a decision I now regret. To make a long story short: Dr. Marinescu pushed unnecessary sterilization surgery. His office was dusty. Stay away.

As a brand new mom with a 3 month old hoping to grow our family, this sent me into a spiral of fear and heartbreak about my fertility. Almost need for his large reception room because there's rarely any waiting time involved with his schedule. He does require a concierge fee, however, which some may find discouraging. It's a higher level of service and attention that the fee covers. This is not a high volume, rushed medical practice. It's truly run like a small practice, where everyone treats you like family. He is very competent. Do not mistake happy talk and smiling faces as a sign of effective health care. He works very hard to make his patients feel comfortable and knows a lot more than he puts on. He's very smart, even for a doctor. And, he's not the slightest bit arrogant and full of himself. If you can accommodate the concierge fee, he's the obvious choice. Get starting right away. He's getting up there in age. Yon don't want to miss out after he retires.
