My husband and I first went to a flooring store in Fremont (one of the "name" chains that advertises on TV). The employee was extremely nice and helpful, but she informed us that the owner "only installs big jobs." (We'd told her that two of our three bathrooms are very small, and the third isn't that big, either.) So, they could sell us flooring but not install it. We said, ok, no problem--please give us your list of recommended installers. To our surprise, they didn't have even one to recommend. As helpful as the employee had been (in terms of showing us samples and discussing different flooring types), I thought, "Why do we want to give our business to a place where the owner can't even be bothered to recommend an installer?" So, I went to Yelp, read the reviews of Liberty Floor Covering, and I'm so glad I did. I stopped by their showroom in Hayward, and Roger, the owner, was extremely friendly and welcoming. I told him right off the bat that this would not be a big job, but the way he treated me, you would have thought we wanted all of our house's flooring re-done. He told me that he, or Liberty's co-owner, insist on taking all measurements themselves before even giving an estimate, to ensure that they're done correctly. He also let me take a large book of floor samples home and said he would just pick it up later. (I'd already decided we'd almost certainly go with Liberty, just based on Roger's courtesy and professionalism.) All I can say is...WOW. We haven't even installed the new hardware yet, or repainted, and our bathrooms look almost brand-new. Pedro, the installer who did the job, obviously knows what he is doing and takes a lot of pride in his work. Roger had mentioned to me that other flooring businesses are always trying to hire his installers, and I don't blame them. Pedro, and I'm sure his other employees too, does stellar work. One of our bathrooms turned out to have some damage to the underlying floor, and Pedro took the extra time to do all repairs and make it right. No complaints here--we are grateful he put in the extra time and effort. I don't think you're going to get this caliber of work done by Lowe's or Home Depot. Within a short time after the project was completed, planks began cracking, materials started peeling, and multiple sections already looked worn and damaged. The final result looked rushed and cheaply done. During the project, everything seemed focused on getting payment as quickly as possible rather than delivering quality work. Once the payment was made, communication practically disappeared. Calls and messages about the defects either went unanswered or were ignored entirely. What's most frustrating is that many of these issues were obvious signs of bad installation and low-quality materials that should never have passed as finished work. Instead of standing behind their work, they completely ghosted after being paid. I would strongly caution anyone considering this company. What initially looks like a good deal may end up costing far more in repairs and replacements later.

I did my research and ended up strongly preferring higher-end laminate over LVP and hybrid options. Andro provided a competitive quote, and was very clear and straightforward to work with. So the fact that Andro never for a second tried to BS me on anything, is a massive plus. There was no ambiguity about what is included and what is not. The flooring brand he works with is good quality and had a lot of variety. We took our sweet time in deciding. I would definitely recommend doing one's own research in type of flooring you want, quality and price range you are good with, and getting comfortable with what you decide. We looked at options from home depot, lowes, floor & decor, as well as a couple of local stores -- and pretty much covered the spectrum of quality and price. We did end up going with the brand Andro partners with. They have a showroom/office nearby and made it easy to take as many samples as we wanted. We tried a variety of them at home, in different lights, saw how things coordinated with other existing flooring, etc. It was a bit embarrassing when I went back there to return the pile of samples I had borrowed, but hey, we were being thorough! The installation was quick and efficient, and the flooring fit and finish looks super-professional! The installer who works for Andro has 10+ years of experience and did a good job distributing patterns and planning the cut-lengths well across the bedroom and walk-in closet. He also fixed a minor issue that was discovered in a corner of the room after the carpet was removed. By the way, we did not have a leveling problem in the floor, so no additional sub-floor leveling was needed. There was a bit of a hiccup as the guy made an error when caulking the re-attached baseboards. But Andro made things right without any hesitation. Not only was the caulking cleaned and re-done but Andro went beyond that and had his guy do some additional work too. It is very important to see how someone reacts when something goes wrong, and he checked an important box! Andro stands out in the crowd for his quality of work, good communication, no bs or upsell, and focus on making sure the customer is happy!
