I HIGHLY recommend Liberty Floor Covering. If you want more details: Some background: We needed to replace the old vinyl flooring in our bathrooms. My husband and I first went to a flooring store in Fremont (one of the "name" chains that advertises on TV). The employee was extremely nice and helpful, but she informed us that the owner "only installs big jobs." (We'd told her that two of our three bathrooms are very small, and the third isn't that big, either.) So, they could sell us flooring but not install it. We said, ok, no problem--please give us your list of recommended installers. To our surprise, they didn't have even one to recommend. As helpful as the employee had been (in terms of showing us samples and discussing different flooring types), I thought, "Why do we want to give our business to a place where the owner can't even be bothered to recommend an installer?" So, I went to Yelp, read the reviews of Liberty Floor Covering, and I'm so glad I did. I stopped by their showroom in Hayward, and Roger, the owner, was extremely friendly and welcoming. I told him right off the bat that this would not be a big job, but the way he treated me, you would have thought we wanted all of our house's flooring re-done. He told me that he, or Liberty's co-owner, insist on taking all measurements themselves before even giving an estimate, to ensure that they're done correctly. He also let me take a large book of floor samples home and said he would just pick it up later. (I'd already decided we'd almost certainly go with Liberty, just based on Roger's courtesy and professionalism.) All I can say is...WOW. We haven't even installed the new hardware yet, or repainted, and our bathrooms look almost brand-new. Pedro, the installer who did the job, obviously knows what he is doing and takes a lot of pride in his work. Roger had mentioned to me that other flooring businesses are always trying to hire his installers, and I don't blame them. Pedro, and I'm sure his other employees too, does stellar work. One of our bathrooms turned out to have some damage to the underlying floor, and Pedro took the extra time to do all repairs and make it right. No complaints here--we are grateful he put in the extra time and effort. I don't think you're going to get this caliber of work done by Lowe's or Home Depot. Roger was wonderful in measuring and giving his suggestions and opinions when it came to selecting carpet and laminate flooring to meet my style and budget. The showroom has a large variety of selections. His team were professional and clean. They also suggested changing from "waterfall" to "Hollywood" style on the stairs which looks awesome. This review is long overdue. When it comes to someone's livelihood, I usually hesitate to leave negative feedback -- but our experience with this store was truly terrible. We trusted Raju, the guy at the store, after he confidently assured us that he could deliver excellent results. We hired him for our bathroom tile installation, purchasing tiles from Floor & Decor. When it came time for installation, instead of a proper team, he sent just one person to handle five rooms. The job, which he promised would be completed in 2-3 days, ended up dragging on for 10 days. After the installation, we noticed large shoe marks and other stains that wouldn't come off. Raju recommended different cleaning solutions, none of which worked. He then sent the same installer to clean it, but the marks remained. His explanation? It was a "manufacturing defect" with the tiles we purchased, and he told us to take it up with the store -- then never followed up. We still have visible shoe marks and stains, and every time I see them, I'm reminded never to do business with him again. At this point, we'll need to redo everything with someone else, because despite all our cleaning attempts, the damage caused during installation cannot be fixed. Edit: surely this person has to blame the customer who knows less about flooring and trusted him as he has been doing this for years. We asked if it's a nice product we bought, we didn't get some cheap tiles, since u are such an expert you could have said something about tiles in first place. Sure run away from taking responsibility. Don't even start on craftsmanship will post photos and videos on how bad it is. read more

We had a home project where we wanted to change one room's flooring from carpet to vinyl for a workout room. I had reached out to a few flooring companies and shopped around for the best pricing, customer service, and timeframe (was hoping to get the transformation done asap to transform our room into a workout room). From the beginning Roger was very helpful within a couple days of calling he came out to review the room and provide a quote and some flooring options. He was very respectful of COVID-19 and wore a mask at all times and made the visit very brief. Within a couple weeks Liberty came back and removed our carpet and installed new flooring! During the installation process we discovered that in removing the carpet we found that the new baseboards were not long enough to mask the paint from the original baseboards. Roger and Jason resolved this really quickly and within a couple days sent the team back to complete the baseboards. Roger even mentioned that they were short-shipped the baseboards and had to shop around last minute to find a solution so they could finish the job quickly! Two weeks ago an atmospheric river dumped 4 inches on California's parched ground and we found our Toddler's bedroom flooded with water. After we gutted and dried out the room, we were in desperate need of new carpets, padding, and baseboards to move our child back in before her Grandmother was planned to move into our only other room. The situation was bleak. So much weather-related damage occurred across the Bay Area, that it was difficult to get anyone to return our calls. Then we called Liberty Floor Covering in Hayward. They asked us to come into the store and they would be able to install our carpets within the tight timeframe we needed. Sure enough, after discussing our needs, we scheduled an installment date less than a week out. Raju was incredibly responsive to my texts and questions. The quote was straightforward, transparent, and professional, with all the virtual signing and payment options - 50% deposit on a very reasonable price ($900 total). Prior to the installment date, Raju was able to find better quality carpet at the same price. They came out on the scheduled date and completed the job quickly. The room looks brand new. The carpet is incredibly soft! The baseboard work was excellent! Our family is just so grateful for the wonderful service from start to finish!! The previous carpet was old and had spots from the previous owners and no matter how often we had the carpet cleaners come in, it just went back to looking dingy. This is my long overdue review of Roger and his team since I am a decades long customer with over a dozen completed installations of carpet and vinyl for kitchens and bathrooms for my east bay rentals. They have always offered great prices and the customer service and installations have always been at or above my high expectations. These installations always take place during vacancy periods which are very costly so I want to minimize. We decided to replace the carpets in the bedrooms. An associate came to the house, late and spent 10-15 minutes there. He spoke to everyone but me, which is funny since I was purchasing the carpet. We paid him half and he said it would take about a week to get the carpet in and they would call to schedule the install. After almost 2 weeks we hadn't heard anything. My husband called and the gentleman said he didn't recognize the job. My husband said we paid you half already and he said he would have to look into it. Someone else called us back and said they didn't know why no one had called to schedule the installation yet. So they installed the carpet last Friday and thank goodness the installation team was incredible. Love the carpets and installers, don't care for the service we received prior to installation. I'm so glad we came to liberty flooring! We had been to three other places prior to this and no other customer service compared. Roger helped us through the entire process. He gave us his professional opinion on all the different options. He really knows what he's talking about as he has been in the business for 13 years. He was not at all pushy & I didn't once feel rushed when we were trying to decide on the color of our laminate and carpet. This review is long overdue (work was done beginning of March). We had a kitchen, several bathrooms, and a laundry room done with porcelain tile. Raju came out and accurated estimated everything. He explained every detail of the installation and told me his price covered everything from backerboard to thinset, grout, baseboards, moldings, etc., etc., etc. I didn't need to worry about anything other than picking the porcelain tile and grout color I wanted. His installers, Pedro and Yolanda, were fantastic. They worked hard and accomodated our schedule. Pedro did careful calculation of the angles and they cut the tiles evenly to match all the angles. The tiles were all laid nice and straight, with very uniform grout lines. They also took care of details not mentioned before, like caulking the toilet and installing a bullnose stair step. Raju did not nickel and dime us for any unforeseen materials, and when we were finished, he inspected the work himself and was satisfied with it.
