I went last week with my mom to this place. We went to Erika where she does treatments for your skin. When you pay so much for a treatment, maybe you don't expect right away results, but atleast you expect good customer service. My mom did a peeling treatment for her skin, and they told her to leave it on for a certain amount of hours. However her face was red and burning up. She didn't know if it was normal or not or what to do. But clearly it wasn't normal if her skin is burning. Anyway, she texted Erika , and Erika never replied to her. So, my mom didn't know what to besides stop using the treatment she had to put on her own. In total, my mom and I spent here over $400/$500 for a horrible customer service. And for her skin to burn? I do not recommend anyone to come here. Please don't waste your time or money. read more

Im giving 3 stars because the stylist was very nice. Im giving my overall look of my hair a zero. I'm sure this salon is fabulous however, I did not receive the look I intended to receive. I am completely sad right now. It took me almost a year for my hair to fully grow out from the last disastrous haircut I received. I had to cut my hair 4 times to fix it. I was so hesitant to get another haircut except now my hair was very dry and needed it. Once again I have to cut my hair very short to start all over again because the haircut I received tonight is awful. I asked for a trim and layers. Well, that's exactly what I got however, I got a haircut that looks old school mom hairstyle from the late 90's. Kind of like Jennifer Aniston but very odd in the front. Also, another thing that bothered me was the stylist never asked me if I wanted my hair blow dried or not. She blow dried my hair then asked for 35$. If you charge for a blow dry then ask if the customer wants that service! Also, Please, if you ask the client if she wants side bangs and the client says no side bangs then don't give the client side bangs. Gosh, I'm so upset about it. I know it's just hair but, if I'm paying for a specific look I should get it. :( read more

I have gone to Ankh Studio for years. The stylists are the best as well as great people. I went in last February and found out that Linda, the owner, had sold it but she and most of the other stylists were still there. I was happy. Yesterday as I was walking in, I noticed that the other side of HNL Studio (it has doubled in size from when it was Ankh Studio), was open and offering many specials. I walked in and almost fainted when I saw how low the laser hair removal prices were. I spoke to the nurse who does the laser treatment and was impressed. I made an appointment for today. I've never had laser hair removal. I know many people who have and they rave about it. I had bought a Groupon for another studio in Encino. Everything looked so dirty, including the receptionists, that I ended up leaving, and never using that Groupon. I contacted Groupon, they wouldn't credit me...but that is another story. Ashlin, the RN, was a delight. She explained everything before I began. We probably spent close to 30 minutes talking. As she worked on me, she was so careful and did her best to make sure that any discomfort was minimal (I have to say, waxing is more painful). Although HNL was offering both single sessions or a series of sessions, Ashlin never pushed me to spend more money. She said that one treatment works for some people, but many people need more sessions than one. I bought the series of 5 sessions and added a tip. Ashlin was so sweet and thankful, saying the tip wasn't necessary. I'll be back and will be telling my friends to try the shop! I've heard the manicurist is wonderful - and of course the hair side, that still has Linda, Jenny and Nina is wonderful. read more

I have been going here for years and finally got around to writing a review. My hairdresser of 6 years Helen is amazing! She is kind, easy-going, and totally consistent in her communication and overall quality of service. Basically she is a lovely person on top of being a great hairdresser and has put up with my never-ending desire to change hair colors and styles. She is an artist and will be honest if something will be damaging or just not right for your hair/face shape. I have also gotten extensions by her- a few hairdressers specialize in them at this salon. When I wanted to take a long break (possibly forever) from them she was totally cool and recommended clip-ins, that she then dyed to match my hair color when I wanted extra volume. My husband now gets his thick hair cut and styled from Helen, and he tells me if we ever move out of state that we may just have to travel to her for his haircuts. I love the salon as its clean, elegant, and vibey without being overwhelming. I have often been there when very few people are around which is perfect for me as I hate crowded, noisy salons. Eliza, the owner, is great as well. She has set the tone for a modern, professional, and creative salon. The staff is very friendly and the interior is very nice! The prices are awesome too. I went for laser for my underarms and upper lip. I bought a package on Groupon for my underarms and added the upper lip after my 1st session. Upper lip is only 9 or 10 dollars per session! I Love Eliza K. I went here upon a recommendation. I just turned 49 and wanted fun hair. I had gone to several salons over the year and have been disappointed. First of all, Elisa was extremely easy to book with and she has an amazing personality. She's very warm and I experienced my first cup of Armenian coffee. She paid attention to what I wanted ,though I struggled to explain my vision clearly. She is very detailed and fast. My hair went from mousy brown to a head of summer highlights without any damage. She styles meticulously. She will not let you leave until you are camera ready. I came home to my daughter who says she loves my hair and that I look younger (that's quite a compliment from a 14 year old). I will be back. I had tried many different salons and stylists until i finally found this gem of a place. HNL is a fabulous one-stop-shop salon with the most experienced and humbled stylists. I've been coming here for couple of years now. There are many stylists at the salon which is great if you need a quick appointment, but I always schedule with Helen. I consider myself as somewhat picky - i want it all - good service, nice and clean environment, good manners from everyone at the salon and fair price. I get it all at HNL and couldn't be more happier. It's easy to make an appointment with Helen, she's very responsive and accommodating, she takes the time to listen and offers her professional recommendations (which I usually go with and the end result is always stunning). She's so pleasant and fun yet professional and you can tell she's very passionate about what she does. Helen always uses the Oribe products on my hair which I'm absolutely loving. It's an amazing line and does wonders for my hair. I've bought a couple items from the line and am definitely going back for the shampoo the next time i'm there. They aren't pushy on selling you products which I definitely respect. I look forward to going to HNL because I know I can get my nails done (at the same time as my hair!) and make-up if I'm going somewhere fancy. The salon also offers many other services such as teeth whitening and facials (I haven't tried these yet but hope to soon). also, everyone raves about extensions with Eliza - I don't get extensions, but they certainly look amazing on the girlst that do get them.
