There food is one of the best things in Chicago. I have been searching for good food in Chicago and this has been one of my favs

When visiting any Chinese restaurant I always get a bowl of Hot n Sour soup and Chinese Kitchen has a really excellent one. Outside of that I experiment with dishes that are not breaded and deep fried. Shrimp dishes have generous portions of shrimps. Beef with Broccoli is delicious as is the BBQ Pork W BROCCOLI. I GUESS I LIKE BROCCOLI. Mostly set up for take out but there are a few tables. read more

The young lady that took my order was cheerful & on point. Even reviewed the order with me. Delivered fast & hott. Ordered orange chicken and broccoli and the chicken wasn't fresh. Tasted like it was reheated or refried numerous times. Only 4 pieces of broccoli large dinner. I recently just called in to place an order for delivery and owner/ employee of restaurant said that that they are unable to deliver order without tip on card you can't demand a tip for delivery and can't deny anyone of ordering for delivery from any restaurant as this is a really bad issue and this restaurant needs a new owner and manager she said it's cold outside if it's cold or not you can't demand anyone to tip if they don't have it read more

DONT EVER order from here!!! THE LADY IS RUDE!!!!!! I ordered for pick up. And the young man was very sweet. I ordered 2 orders of sweet and sour chicken, and the food tasted moldy. Mind you, I served this to my kids.... I called the restaurant and explained the situation nicely, and the young man was very respectful. Then he passed the phone to a lady... she was very disrespectful and rude. She had the nerve to tell me "We had a lot of people order sweet & sour chicken and no one has had a problem." And I said okay but I tasted it, and im not the only who tried it and agreed on it tasting weird. The lady said okay bring it back, and ill refund your money, but next time buy somewhere else, i dont want to serve to you again. THIS WAS MY FIRST TIME ORDERING FROM HERE AND MY LAST!!! If I could give zero stars, I would. This was one of the worst restaurant experiences I've ever had. I walked in and was completely ignored. The woman behind the counter was on the phone the entire time--taking orders, chatting--without even acknowledging me standing right in front of her. When she finally hung up, I thought she'd help. Nope. She picked the phone right back up and continued ignoring me like I didn't exist. Beyond rude. To make matters worse, the place was disgusting. Dirty floors, strange smell, and just an overall vibe that screamed "we don't care." It's not just unwelcoming--it's unsanitary. I wouldn't eat here if it were free. This place seriously needs to be inspected and shut down until they figure out what "customer service" and "cleanliness" mean. Save yourself the headache and go literally anywhere else. read more

This is a must if you're looking for good Chinese food. The prices are affordable- the egg rolls are hefty! I would order daily if I could. We have tried 6 different dishes and they all were amazing . Good portions and fast service. The place is small inside, but they have about 10 chairs if you want to sit and eat. read more

This place has to be the worse Chinese restaurant around. I order the Szechwan chicken dinner special and hardly no chicken and mostly all onions. Never had this much onions in one dish. This was the shortest time between "done eating" and "explosive diarrhea" that I've ever experienced. The orange chicken was technically orange-colored but otherwise unrecognizable. Fried rice had no taste to it whatsoever. The chicken nuggets tasted suspiciously like they were purchased from McDonalds (which would be pretty clever). On the other hand, the place itself looked nice and clean, and the service was friendly. read more

Chickity china, the chinese kitchen, grab a lunch special, and your brain starts tickin'..... Stumbled upon here during a leisurely stroll from the nearby divorced-Dad's laundromat, and decided to give it a try. This place doesn't seem to have air conditioning, as the dining area was rather warm. That's no bueno for this hot dude (pun intended?) but I guess sweat dripping down my forehead onto my dish adds flavor. Their lunch special menu is pretty extensive, and includes your "typical" American-Chinese plates, such as Egg Foo Young, chicken and broccoli, and Mongolian Beef. All lunch specials came with a tiny miniature eggroll, fried rice, and the dish itself. I ordered the Chicken with Broccoli with white rice. The dish had a decent amount of chicken but lacked much seasoning. Good thing, as mentioned, I was sweating like a sinner at church, so that helped with the flavor, but also at each table they had a tub of sweet & sour and soy sauce packets at your disposal. All food was served on Styrofoam containers and plastic ware. So if you're gungho about the environment, you're not going to be too happy about this place. Seating was all plastic booth chairs and the place had 4 booths. From the ambiance and everything, this place mainly serves takeout. I saw from the neighboring table, a couple of construction workers having some delicious-looking BBQ ribs, so I might give that a try next time I swing around. read more

Last night I had delivery via grub hub and sauce packets were missing. I called to ask whether I had to request them if I ordered next time. Lady who answered phone denied they were the place that sent food. I live nearby and checked grub hub and their address was listed on the order. When I called a second time, the lady acknowledged the order was from there. Forgetting a packet isn't that big a deal, but I was irritated about being given the runaround. The food tasted okay and there was plenty for leftovers. Unfortunately after the gastric attack that ensued less than an hour after eating, the leftovers have been disposed of. At least I don't have to concerns about needing a cleanse. I felt fine before, immediately afterward and today. So it was definitely the food. read more

Best egg foo young, hands down. Seriously, they put something special in there. We usually order from here for delivery and they come very fast. We recommend the Fried shrimp appetizer, the combination fried rice, combination egg foo young and lo mien. They restaurant itself isnt much to look and has about two tables for people who would like to dine-in. The service is fast and efficient. The prices are a steal for good food, fast. read more

I read that the best Chinese restaurants have 3.5 stars because real Chinese food lovers don't care about ambience etc. So I looked for one in my area and found this one. Seven years after my first review this place keep cranking out great food. Even with COVID-19 they still deliver quickly and the food is always hot and fresh. I think the orange chicken is better then ever. Delivery guy followed protocol and had his mask as I did mine. My mom loved her shrimp egg foo Young. Still not crazy about the beef skewers. My family stumbled upon this place today when I asked my husband to stop at the dollar store next door. He and my daughter ordered egg rolls from here while I went in. When I get back to the car, they were enjoying! So we decided to go in and have lunch before we continued our errands. While my husband said the chicken wings weren't as good as our favorite Chinese place, the lunch special I had was wonderful. Mongolian beef with chicken fried rice and an egg roll, for $6. All of the lunch specials come with those and the menu is quite extensive. Our daughter had the combination lo mein and she loved it. The noodles were fresh and full of beef, pork, and very large shrimp! They don't have much in the way of a dining room but there are a few tables, and the lady was nice enough to bring our food out with plastic plates and utensils on a tray. We did notice that the phone rang constantly so they must do a lot of carry out and delivery. We enjoyed our impromptu lunch and said we would come here again whenever we're in the area. read more

After a sudden sweet and sour pork craving, I ventured out to find a Chinese place that could satisfy me. Unfortunately, a ton of places around Portage Park are closed Mondays... WHY? Chinese Kitchen was open so we gave it a shot despite the meh reviews. I can see why their food comes out so fast... Their popular items must be sitting in the back just ready to heat up and go. The orange chicken was super soggy and had a strange flavor to it. I thought the chicken fried rice was ok (very Americanized Chinese with a lot of soy sauce flavor) but my bf didn't enjoy it. The sweet and sour pork was the kind I didn't like... lot of breading and not much meat. The sauce comes on the side so that was kind of nice since you can't just reheat this. I'm a bit upset that nothing came with sauces. Nothing for my bf's egg roll and nothing for our crab rangoons. I decided to pickup some Chinese food for a movie night and decided to try out Chinese Kitchen since I had to stop by the Dollar Tree next door. I was excited to see on the menu that they do not use MSG in the food. The food was ready in less than 10 minutes which was great. I was not very impressed with the food though. The crab rangoon was yummy, but they forgot to include any sweet and sour sauce which was disappointing. The Orange Beef was mediocre. I was disappointed in both the egg drop soup and hot and sour soup. They were pretty tasteless and I got a piece on an egg shell in my soup. Stopped at See Thru Kitchen on the way to O'Hare and boy was it a delight! My fiancé and I live on the south side of Chicago and visit china town 2 times a week. We found the food delicious, the fried rice well balanced and NOT a greasy pile of rice, and the same goes for the egg roll. The vegetables in our dishes still had a crunch and were not soggy. Very impressed with this restaurant. This place has really crunchy and delicious Crab Rangoon. The Egg Rolls are delicious as well. However, I wouldn't suggest the Pot Stickers. Not too much flavor. The portions are big. SO hey...you...STOP READING THIS REVIEW. Seriously. Really. OK - fine - but don't say that it's probably to be expected that the food would be, well, bad. And that's what it was. Since the other place down the street was closed, we stopped here. The soup was good...heavy on the hot, light on the sour. The orange chicken wasn't orange-y at all. The Kung Pao shrimp was celery,onion, and peanuts. Good sauce - but no shrimp. The egg roll was soggy and the wrapper was too thick. Thankfully, there are SO MANY choices and options for Chinese food in Chicago. Don't spent your money here. We ordered a Mongolian Beef that came with literally 3 pieces of beef, NO JOKE! Ridiculous! We ordered Sweet n Sour Chicken and they didn't pack the Sweet n Sour sauce. We didn't notice till we got home. And on top of that, the kid that was behind the counter was rude to my wife. Even though i've found a new place to call my chinese home, I miss the way you got my orange chicken to me so quickly, always spicy (sometimes very much so), and I miss the smile on the delivery driver's face as he realized he had already visited our happy home 3 other times that week - by Wednesday. I have to disagree with all the other yelpers that gave it 1 or 2 stars. They make the best fried rice in town. I have never been disappointed with it. It's flavorful and the proportions are right! Every time my boyfriend and I go there, we order General Tso's Chicken and sometimes their beef with broccoli or pea pods. Their Shrimp Egg Foo Young is delicious too! Now... if I were to give it 1 less star, it's because there isn't enough seating. Food is prepared fast. They are very neat and clean, and they deliver in a timely manner. I just moved to this neighborhood, and I'd love to say I've found that "go to" restaurant...you know, the place you "go to" for a quick meal. Unfortunately, this ain't it! The Kung Pao shrimp was spicy...but there were only about four (4) shrimp in the entire dish...and it was obvious the shrimp had been cooked before it was added to the veggies/sauce. The Orange chicken had absolutely no orange flavor....NONE!? I never give low reviews. But this place has the most bland Chinese food I've ever had. We ordered the Mongolian beef, crab Rangoon, and potstickers. The Mongolian beef had no flavor. The crab Rangoon, while in the shape I prefer (triangular not puckered), was weirdly dry. I actually think I would have enjoyed the potstickers, but they were undercooked. Ordered the Dinner for Two special- $18 gets you 2 egg rolls, 2 entrees, and soup. The portions are HUGE, so this lasted us two meals, and I still ended up tossing the leftovers. Egg Rolls: we had the veggie; loved em Egg Drop Soup: yum Chicken & Pea Pods: huge pieces of chicken breats, fresh pea pods, light sauce, excellent Shrimp Fried Rice: I don't eat swimmy stuff, but hubs said it was good. I wasn't overwhelmed, but it was a solid meal. You can't beat the price on those portions, ther'es no MSG, and they deliver to my house. So, I'm pretty sure I'll be calling again. read more

Pretty good place to pick up some Chinese food. This place gets your order done FAST. I ordered from here on a Saturday night for pick up. I was told it would be about 10 minutes. When I got there 10 minutes later, our food was freshly made and already put into a bag that was there and waiting for us. My favorites are the sweet and sour chicken and the orange chicken. The sweet and sour chicken comes with what you'd expect, fried chicken, tons of rice, but the extra for me is the sweet and sour sauce where they don't skimp on the green pepper and pineapple. I alays order the orange chicken spicy, and it's the perfect amount of spice for me. That said, the portions are huge. There were tons of leftovers, and I'm sure it will make another 2 meals. The food is still always steaming hot when I get it home and open the bag. The eggrolls are a bit soggy and usually the wrapper is too thick. Oh, and don't forget to grab your own sauces! They don't put sauces in the bag for you. Instead, there's an area to the side of the main counter that has all the sauces you would need in individual packets. Take as many as you need. One final note, some other yelpers might have mentioned this (I didn't read all the reviews), but this restaurant is delivery or take out. There are a few tables to sit at while you wait for your order, but do not expect to dine in here. A quick, easy, cheap, and pretty tasty dinner. read more
