This review is for a doctor at Hoag Woodbridge, but I've also consistently had positive experiences -- prompt, respectful, kind -- interactions with all of the front desk staff, nurses, and physician's assistants I've interacted with here over the past 5 years. I have struggled all my life to find a PCP who made me feel heard and who gave me clarity and treatment plans that worked for me until I met Dr. Amanda Khosravi. She has been my PCP for several years now and treated me through different life stages, so I have a good amount of evidence with which to recommend her wholeheartedly. In fact, I've not only opted for more expensive insurance plans when I switched jobs just so I can continue seeing her, I've also recommended my husband, mother-in-law and a number of friends to her. Here is why I think she is an exemplar of a doctor: Dr. Khosravi has an investigative, holistic, and empathetic approach to figuring out what may be the root cause of my health issues. She clearly has encyclopedic clinical knowledge as well as strong clinical acumen in the way she pieces together all the potential factors and asks me about factors I didn't even realize where potential contributors. On health issues where other doctors have shrugged their shoulders after (sometimes literally) a 30 second dialogue, she has helped me understand the issue and the treatment options. In addition to the superb clinical care, she is genuinely kind and empathetic. Going through health issues is for many of us emotionally triggering, and I've unintentionally cried or felt embarrassed during my appointments, and she always makes me feel safe and heard. Both the what and the how of her approach to caring for patients result in hope and ability to leave a better quality of life. Finally, she is consistently proactively mindful of the economic burden of healthcare, which is sometimes an unspoken barrier to actually following the steps to getting treated. Though we don't know each other personally and I'm sure I'm one of ten thousand, if not more, patients she sees a year, I feel as if she cares of me as if I were her family member. In short, Dr. Khosravi is thorough, brilliant, and empathetic. I'm deeply grateful to have her as my doctor. read more

I have been seeing Dr Jing Moy for several months. He is one of the best Doctors I have seen in a long time. He really listens to your concerns and makes good recommendations to help improve your health. I would highly recommend him to anyone looking for a primary care Doctor. He also has the extra credential of Dr of Osteopathy "DO". And I have to also comment that Jasmine and the entire office staff there has been incredibly friendly and caring, and keep up great communication with patients. My experience with this office was not a good one. On several occasions this office has not come through for me (but my insurance was certainly charged). - During routine examination, they inflated my weight by 25 lbs (no attention to simple detail). - A home test kit was ordered for me, it was not delivered. Only after contacting them several times through the Patient Portal did they properly order the home test. - My home test results came in (with concerning results), but this office did not make much of an effort to contact me (2(!!) months elapsed without communication about the concerning results; so do I think they care about me, a patient? No. I believe that the team at this office needs to improve their attention to detail and customer service; the current trajectory of their effort is not good for the health of its patients. The folks at that location are operating at, what seems like, 50%.   :( read more

I see Dr. Khosravi and Dr. Wu at this location. Dr. Khosravi is my primary care doctor and is the best I've ever had. She is very thorough and caring. She is super smart and has an incredible bedside manner. She is so patient and has the gift of empathy. Dr. Wu is my rheumatologist and manages my auto-immune disease. She is extremely thorough and spends a lot of time with me to understand what is taking place with me and my health issues. She tailors a medical plan to me as a person and does not just rely on treating a disease. She understands that everyone is different and has worked wonders by being so involved in my care. Have been seeing Dr. Stephen Yu as my primary care physician for several years now. Since then I have never been in better health. Dr. Yu treated my vertigo in office, which has never recurred and thus has substantially improved my life. He has given me several simple but non-obvious and very meaningful suggestions in managing several of my health conditions. He has always been patient, polite, and explains things in adequate detail so that I am able to make changes in my life to better my health. I truly feel he cares about my health condition, and regardless of how many minor complaints I make, he always takes time to address literally everything I have brought up, even going over my appointment time slot to make sure no stone is unturned. This review is for Dr. Stephen Yu. Where do I begin. I've had quite an extensive, confusing health journey. I met Dr. Yu in 2018. I came to him broken not only physically but spiritually, and suffering in more ways than one. Not once has Dr. Yu judged me, lost his patience with me, or given up on me. I struggle with multiple physical disorders and diseases, and I have not gotten properly diagnosed until last month. Dr. Yu has been along for the ride and integral to my physical/mental well-being during the hardest two years of my life, medically speaking. He actually was able to help suggest that I may want to check if I had this really severe condition by digging deep in my family history. It turns out he was correct about wondering if I had this one rare disorder...it was just confirmed via rheumatology after I asked for the blood test! He so much more than a doctor-- he's a person who views his patients as actual human beings rather than just a number or paycheck. He always calls back very quickly and is just as great on the phone! Never in my life has a doctor done for me what Dr. Yu has. He has been my advocate through some of the worst times of my life and I always leave his office feeling optimistic and lucky to have found him. There's mutual trust and respect between us in our doctor-patient relationship. I would recommend anyone to him; he is such a special soul that I am grateful to have met. Also, the office staff is amazing. They go out of their way to fit you in if you need it, they return calls quite fast, refill requests are handled quicker than anywhere else, and their nurse (I think her name is Bree?) is awesome. Looking for a new family doctor came across this place. Newly remodeled, nice office with what looks like new staff, new doctors and new equipment. Very nice. During my visit, I asked several times if I needed to pay my copay and was told NO every time. The dozen or so medical assistants or receptionists behind the counter were too busy surfing online or looking busy in a mostly empty office. Several weeks later I received a bill in the mail for guess what? A copay bill. Several attempts to pay online says wrong account info. Calling the phone number listed on the bill provides 5 minutes of music then all operators are busy, please leave a voicemail. For additional options on voicemail press #. Actually none of the numbers work, there are no options. Waiting for a call back. Tried the phone number on their bill payment website gives you a main receptionist who transfers the call into another voicemail queue that doesn't work. Twice. After several more attempts finally a living breathing person. Give them my account number, they tell me its not a valid number. They say I need to call St Joseph Healthcare, not Hoag. They tell me its not part of Hoag Medical Group. Funny, the bill says Hoag. Look online for other main numbers for Hoag in relation with St. Joseph Heritage Healthcare, call another number, transfer to billing, same scenario, again not a valid account number. Try 2 more times with different numbers and websites. All this for a $20 copay. What kind of Jack & Jill operation is this? I'm done for this. P.S. - my 'new' doctor quit after a couple months after my visit. Continued next day... Still waiting for a call back. Try the main line. Explain to the person on the line my situation. They can only take limited payments, not my payment. They give me a number which I call - 5 minutes of voice message system, then drop to voicemail and then they hang up. Great... Finally get a call back while I was in the shower. And I take it! Give my account number, they take my CC...and bingo! It works!!! Now if I could only get the last 24 hours of my life back. I ask them about the bill payment website, and I'm told its broken. I ask about the phone number listed, and they have no idea why it doesn't work. Next step, request they purge all my medical records. Good times. read more

This review is for Dr Yu. We join Hoag on 9/1/2022 after 15 years with Kaiser. Our Primary Care Physician was Dr Yu and both of us (my wife and I) are so impressed with Dr Yu. He is very professional, caring, always takes his time to listen to our concerns, explaining the situation thoroughly and never gives us the feelings of being rushed. Surprisingly, 3 days after I saw him the first time, I was able to schedule another same day appointment due to an urgent pain on my ankle. Something that I could not do during the past 15 years. What is the point of having a PCP when you can't even see or talk to him or her and got sent to urgent care to see others doctors when you need your PCP. Dr Yu had solved our problem. He is also very responsive to your text message. Lastly the Hoag Compass facility on Jamboree we went was absolutely nice and clean. We totally recommend Hoag Med Group, especially Dr Yu. read more

The appointment for flu shot was useless. They don't honor the appointment system. It is unacceptable to wait more than 20 minutes for a early arrival patient for a flu shot only. I contact the front desk after fifteen minutes of my appointment. The answer was that nurse had been notifed. They even change the appointment time from the previous email without text notification. Looks they can change the time whenever they like without caring where you are and they don't care what will you have other schedule or not. read more

Called to get my prescription refilled. I asked if it was possible to up my dosage, the lady on the phone said I will have to come in to see the doctor for that- as I work 9-5 I couldn't, so I told her if I need to come in, cancel the request and have the doctor write in my standard prescription. A day later I call to check on the status of my prescription and was told by a different lady it wasn't processed because I need to come in to talk to a doctor. I explained what I said originally- that I wanted my standard prescription since I cant come in this week and was told to wait a day. When I finally came to pick it up (on Friday), the doctor filling in for mine forgot to date the prescription so I couldn't get my medication- 2 days without my meds. When I called Monday since no one is in over the weekend, the original lady answered. I told her what happened and she said she will put an urgent note and hopefully it will be ready by tomorrow. I told her I could not wait till tomorrow and I need to come in ASAP as I don't have any more medication left. she started developing attitude which was already building up since she had to repeat herself a few times due to phone issues. When I told her that I misplaced the prescription It felt like she put the blame on me for the situation. I am very confused as to who is the employee in the front desk and who the customer is- color me puzzled. I shouldn't have to deal with attitude coming from the staff at 9:00am when a prime cause of me not having my medication for 5 days stems from this very lady not understanding my request- even though I was crystal clear. If your job is customer service, learn to serve customers- care about the health of those you help and lose the attitude. read more
