The hole in the wall you've been looking for! For YEARS I have came here solely for their Bun Bo Hue. It's really my go-to restaurant whenever I crave it! I've tried Bun Bo Hue at other restaurants and it just doesn't compare. Portion is in line with what you pay and I always leave happy and satisfied. I've recently tried their Com Tam Suon Bi Cha, Hot Ga (broken rice dish with grilled pork and all other goodies) and OMG! It's probably the best rice dish I've had! Amazing, excellent, I wish I could get Bun Bo Hue like this in my current town. It's truly fantastic. I always order it without the pork hock because the bone is too hard to chew the tendon off of and it makes a huge splash in the broth if you pick it up and drop it. What I ordered: Banh Bot Loc, a sticky type of shrimp dumpling in clear wrapping...with a fish sauce dip. Very fresh tasting and above average with a hint of chewiness that makes it good. 4 stars. Chao Long, a rice soup with a side dish of intestines, pork blood, liver and other insides... a bit bland as it needed additional ginger and cilantro.. seems to me something is missing. 3.4 stars Bun Bo Hue, definitely not the best I ever tasted, I still choose Pho So 1's version. This place is so so yum!!!! I am used to go to pho places in bothell or along the east side. We happen to be waiting for something down the street and went into this little shop, we got seated right away and served with water and tea. I got the pho with steak. And am Iced coffee with condensed milk!! When I got it, the broth was so so so good!! A small soup is $9.00 and the large is 10.00. The condensed milk with Iced coffee was only 3.00!!!!! Went here for the Bun Bo Hue that everyone says is super good. I do not like all the extras in my pho so I customized it to just have just the meatballs for the meat part. The broth, the noodles and the meatballs were good. My friends like the BBH just the way it is, so that says something on it's own too. My friend wanted to try the Bang bot loc as well. I am not a fan of this dish but I think it is probably my personal preference more than the actual dish. It was very chewy and the flavor was not something I enjoyed. Maybe if you like the little dried shrimp, you would have a better time with it. As for the place, we were seated by the wall. The place was filled. It looks like they have regulars on weekend mornings but there is usually a table or two open. Half way through our meal, there was this cockroach looking bug crawling up the wall so I got brave and smooshed it. (Sorry animal lovers) Then more baby cockroach looking bugs started crawling out from behind the picture hung on the wall. Contrary to popular reviews, I really don't believe this place has the best bun bo hue. It may have been due to high expectations but I felt like the broth was slightly bland, yet still spicy. So it was a strange mix. It wasn't bad by any means but It didn't have that real meaty taste to it. We also got the spring rolls which were good. I always am on the lookout for spring rolls that include more leafy greens but this one just had lettuce. The ladies working were very sweet and are always smiling even when they're slammed! The inside of this place isn't as sketchy as the outside! There is a front and a back entrance. So bun bo hue is my all time favorite noodle soup, and having grown up in Vietnam, I have high standards when it comes to my favorite. Yes, I think the bbh here is one of the best in Seattle for sure, but that is mainly because most places have horrible bbh =/ If i was to rate the bbh alone, I would give this place 3 stars. The first few spoonfuls of soup were great, but it's as though all the flavoring only sat on top, the soup gets more bland as you go. So unless you keep adding in the chili oil/paste (which might be way too spicy for some), the soup gets boring. Definitely needs more lemongrass. Wow. We decided to have an early dinner, so it was quite empty around 4:30pm. I can't say how busy it gets during regular lunch/dinner hours. We both ordered the bun bo hue, and we are so glad we did. I've never had bun bo hue with those meatballs in it, so that was a great surprise (and also the best part of the noodle soup). They also include a giant pork knuckle, pork blood, onions + green onions, cilantro, & noodles. The soup was good, but like I said, the meatballs were the star of the show! We ordered a large size, and they gave 4-5 meatballs - I'd say that is pretty generous. Each bun bo hue was only $9 too! FYI - this is a cash only place. I'm the only non-Vietnamese person in here. Now all this considered, I have no choice but have high expectations for the food. You sit. You order. You eat. You pay (cash only). You leave. There's no personable "How's your day?" interaction here. Service here is fast, efficient, and minimal. It really doesn't get more Asian than that, huh? They're fast and efficient though, which is what matters most. The Bun Bo Hue has the right balance of spiciness, lemon-grassiness, and saltiness. It's deep and rich in flavor; perfect for those cold, rainy Seattle days. It will not only clear your sinuses, but it will also keep your soul warm as well. Despite this place being a tad bit sketchy, their Bun Bo Hue is probably one of the best in town. My dad would swear by this place and come back for their BBH. I use to order their Banh Canh Tom Cua because they had these huge shrimp balls... Maybe I came on a bad day? But I'm sorry. This place is just a-okay for the infamous Bun Bo Hue. I came on a busy Sunday morning around 945-10. It was packed. Like after i came in, there were at least 8-10 more people after me. I must say, my experience was also tanked due to an awkward communication language barrier. It was so packed they wanted to double seat everyone. I was alone so they asked "do u mind if they (2 pple) sit with you? I said "no i dont care". They must've either misheard me or only heard no because after that he walked away and people were staring at me. I asked him a minute later and said, u want them to sit with me here right? He walks away and says no its okay. Awkward. 2 minutes later a lady asks another table in Vietnamese if they'd share and they look at me and I look back and they say something that prompts the 2 people waiting to sit with them instead of me. How effing awkward! I pretty much got the silent treatment from everyone in the restaurant after that. How mortifying. Now to the food. I would say for BBH it's cheap for small ($7) and large ($8). But the food wasnt that great. The noodles tasted fresh and had a great bite but the wow factor was supposed to be the broth. And it wasn't. It tasted bland and watery woth hints of spices but no real uumph. I had to put fish sauce in my soup and still it was lacking. The meatballs were tasty but nothing to brag about. It was just mehh. I do however prefer pho so 1 better. The spring rolls with the nem nuong was good though. For $4 it was a great amount and tasted great with peanut sauce. Overall, it is soooo busy especially weekends. I didn't care for their bun bo hue though. Cash only. Ample parking lots behind and to the side. This is def one of my favorite places to get Bun Bo Hue in Seattle, there is plenty of parking behind the building and next to it! You can also take the light rail and get off at the Othello station right in front of the store! I do wish the bun Bo hue had more beef in it rather than the cha but overall it is really really cheap considering the prices of foods nowadays! One of best Bun Bo Hue (BBH) restaurants ever! Really cannot compare the BBH here to anything in the Bay Area. The closest would probably be Bun Bo Hue An Nam in San Jose. This is a no frills type of Vietnamese restaurant which reminds me of how we dine in Vietnam and I absolutely love how they give you all the right vegetables for the BBH. The banh bot loc was also really good and I would recommend to order that dish for an appetizer. I was in Seattle for a week and I was craving some nice pho after a night of drinking. Haha. My cousin took me to this spot and its definitely a "hole in a wall" place. Famous for their bun bo hue and bahn bot loc, I just had to try and it didn't disappoint. The Bun bo hue soup was flavorful as is and didn't need any more seasoning added. Maybe a little splash of that crack fish sauce (but that's just me). For the ones that doesn't know bun bo hue, it's a little different from your regular pho. It's got blood cubes, pork hock, and internal organs and uses spagetti noodles. It might not sound appealing, but it beats regular pho any day in my opinion. So, onto the bahn bot loc, these little clear tapioca wrap with shrimp and pork inside is delicious. They are like dumplings but with a clear wrapping. Don't forget to pour off the crack fish sauce all over. It completes that dish. As far as the place, it is pretty small. Maybe 15-20 seats. But like most of the time, the hole in the wall places are the best. I would like to go back again and try a different item on their menu, but I would always get the bahn bot loc. read more

I got a bowl of Bun Bo Huế at this place the other day. OMG, it had so much MSG. I have had eaten out to several restaurants which their foods had MSG, yet never had bad side effects of it.. The places serves various Vietnamese dishes but specializes in spicy central style Vietnamese vermicelli pork noodles. This is what had, and it was authentic. $10 for a large bowl isn't that bad either, note that it is not significantly larger then the small. The large came with 2 pork hocks, 4 meatballs, 4 cubes of pork blood and 4 slices of beef. Place is small, but is fairly packed - all tables are in use, so if Covid safety is a concern, check elsewhere. Eating area is clean, but parking is behind the store next to dumpsters, and the restrooms aren't that clean either. The Dept of Health (I think?) rates it as 3 of 4 - a "good" rating. So -1 star. Customer service wasn't bad or good. Waiter greeted us and provided us with water and menu upon arrival, and was available to take our order. Bun bo hue - classic bun dish except they serve it with pork blood. I wasn't a huge fan, it was just a okay. Banh bot luc - I was excited to try this since it was a dish I've never seen before. 20 pieces might seem like a lot but they're all bite sized! They're actually sticky rice dumplings. I wasn't a huge fan of it due to the dried shrimp inside and some of the fillings had shells in it. I ended up taking apart the dumpling while I ate it which became a nuisance.
