Ladies: We spent alot of money shopping but we dont need anyone deciding for us females when, if, etc we should get contraceptives, buy birth control pills, etc. Hobby Lobby does not like the Affordable Care Act aka Obamacare because it requires a minimum standard of health care and one of it is the ability to buy contraceptives, the morning after pill, etc As a frequent shopper for crafts; we routinely shop here or Michaels but with Michaels down the street and a bit (U HIlls at Yale and Colo); we wont be shopping here anymore until they change their policies. I've only been to Hobby Lobbys in Texas, and I'm immediately much more a fan of these stores in Colorado. The sales people seem to be MUCH more helpful here than previous locations I've visited and I'm much appreciative of that. We came in on a Saturday afternoon which is normally a craft store nightmare, but the store was pretty quiet. Looking to get some posters framed, we headed to the back where we were almost immediately acknowledged as we started playing around with mats. We were wanting to get three frames of equal size/design, and when this store only had 1 - they called over to Aurora for us to see if they had others. Woo hoo for the assistance! Regular old Hobby Lobby. They've definitely got the selection part down when it comes to variety. Variety however doesn't mean quality. The fact is a large majority of the stuff is poor quality and really is just polished up junk. We were in to find some large size graph paper, and left empty handed. They just didn't have the right size nor for the right price. It was probably a good thing because there was one cashier and 4 people in line. The store wasn't even busy, but come on!! Call up another employee to just quickly check them out, then head back to doing whatever the other employees do. I then heard them make crude jokes and use gay slurs with one another. So disappointed. I went in to the store last week. Piece of furniture I wanted was broke. They took my info, said they'd order a new one and could pick it up in a few days and they would assemble it. Great! Week goes by, dont hear from them. Go to the store. Dont have it - said they could reorder it or I could go to a different store or a discount on the broke piece. And it took 45minutes to get assistance and figure it out. A phone call would have been nice or at least an apology. read more

great selection of product does not outshine poor, deceptive customer service spent $300 over 3 seperate purchases in 2 weeks. Thought I lost 1 of the reciepts, which was in fact my fault. yes, i admit i lost my recipt. sue me. Anyway, I called the store to get a copy of my reciept, thats all i wanted, speaking extremely politely (I am not an angry person), after being passed off to manager by a rude associate (who is probably used to hearing alot of complaints), I was told they dont keep records of purchases beacuse their system doesnt allow it, and, after i ask, they go on to say I can no longer return any items for a refund on that reciept, only store credit - company policy. I was also told by the associate this is "normal" of retail - it is not. I have worked in a few large retail stores, and all of them at any given time could easily pull up records of purchases, in store, and reprint reciepts for customers who have lost them so they can keep records AND make returns if they so choose. I have a history doing it myself at the places that i have worked. The manager, who was kind in his tone actually, unfortunately sounded like a corporate policy handbook without a spine. Our corporate policy says this, our corporate policy says that, all of which not helping me in the least. I'm sorry, but a corpoate policy is not an excuse for poor such rediculousness . Sometimes you need to make customers happy so they keep coming back when they have reasonable requests such as mine. anyway, when i asked about getting a potential refund if i wanted to (i didnt really want to necessarilly, but i want to have the option if need be), I was told they would have no way to verify when i paid and the method of payment, and therfore they would have no way to issue a refund. I offered him the solution of bringing in the bank statement I was already looking at, with the exact time, date, address of store, and method of payment for the purchase. but still no, not enough apparently. I mean, come on...lets face it, people loose paper reciepts from time to time, it happens to the best of us, and hobby lobby is exploiting this to the extreme, punishing loyal, paying cutomers for such a simple lapse. My theory (which is less of a theory and more of a fact) is they are banking on customers losing reciepts from time to time so they can have a legal excuse to avoid giving people their hard-earned money back, but i guess thats "normal" to hobby lobby. Not to me, i find this highly unethical. Most big retail businesses do e-recipets now so people always have a reciept. get with the times... After a 10 minute discussion with the manager, they eventually gave me the number to corporate to get a copy of my reciept. oh so you can get a copy of it now? called corporate customer service, and he basically repeated the exact same stuff about corporate policy, but said he would be able to pull up a copy of my reciept, "awesome!" ...but for "book-keeping" purposes only...oh. So apparently they do have an exact record of my purchase, but again, beacuse i lost a piece of paper, im out of luck. I cant use it to return anything if i need to, only store credit. I told this new guy about my bank statement, gave hime the date of purchase and everything, but he said that he could not find a record of my purchase with the card number i provided him on any date in july. So i guess they dont have a record of my purchase... after all that, really? you just now told me you could pull one up? at this point, ive had enough and I gave up. later i found my reciept, with the card number i provided him on it, so, chances are, this guy was just lying to me, or he has an idiot. Wow...no more hobby lobby. I hope it was worth it. buyers bwerare, cling to that recipet for dear life if you intend on getting a refund in the future, because they will keep your money no matter what otherwise. so yeah...bad experience read more

Hobby Lobby and Jo-Ann are my favorite places to get fabric as an avid quilter. I believe the lady that assisted me was Mrs. Phillis. She was very pleasant and kind. The line was a bit long but me and my son did not mind waiting. I usually have a sweet disposition so waiting does not bother me. Majority of the customers present in the store are were older and chatty as they laid their beautiful quilt works. Every Hobby Lobby I have been to has been thoroughly organized, with clean bathrooms and awesomely stocked. With accessible 40% coupons and 30-50% off items regularly, how can you not love this place? Many of these poor reviews are from a couple years ago. I think the store has changed for the better since. Hobby Lobby is now computerized (yay!) and uses bar codes--unfortunately their politics are not as radical as this change. Before the cashiers were stressed out having to enter all the prices manually. I've found that all the customer service people are very helpful and nice. It also seems that they've staffed up since a couple years ago. Phyllis in the fabric area is especially wonderful. I buy fabric there because I'm a quilter and it's convenient, even though I'm not in favor of the lack of certain employee's benefits. Go for the craft supplies, and avoid the household furniture and gewgaws-most are tawdry, flimsy and of low quality. read more

I needed a few small jobs from the framing department. A small piece of glass for a photo, cut down a framed picture and a hook on the back of a photo to hang. I thought I might have to leave for a day or so but the job was done in 30 minutes. Very friendly and efficient framing department. The service at this store is always lacking and my experience there today was worse than usual. A new shipment must have just come in because many of the aisles were stacked full of new inventory. The three things I needed were completely hidden by a wall of boxes. I walked up and down the aisle multiple times trying to find what I needed. During this time there were 2-3 employees unpacking boxes and none of them offered to help me. I finally started moving boxes to reach what I needed and 1 employee reluctantly came over and moved 1 box. Not a happy customer! read more

I don't know why everyone bitches about the service here. I have NEVER had bad customer service at any of their locations, this one included. My mom and I are regulars here and both agree the service is also nice and helpful. This location also has an awesome variety in all areas. They seem to have a better variety and selection then the other I have been to. The outside looks a little outdated but don't let that fool you cause it's quite nice inside. The reason for my original 3 stars, what is stated below, their check out system is archaic and badly needs updated and to be in a line with returns is torture....that is where I was today. However everyone was very pleasant and the manager did offer to help me out when I dropped a frame. So, Yay! I am a fan of Hobby Lobby and like many of their products. Ok, so I have been a big Hobby Lobby shopper. I am a stay-at-home mom with two girls. Between the birthday parties, class projects, auction projects, costume making, summertime crafts, etc., we spend a lot of money at Hobby Lobby. Well, I should say spent, because I will NEVER set foot in the store again. Here is what happened...I went to return a few items that I had purchased the prior week. I had the receipt, everything was unopened, all items were in the bag that I took them home in. One item (spray adhesive) did not have a price tag, so the checker called for a price check. A manager? came to the front of the store with a couple of bottles of spray adhesive and proceeded to tell me that I didn't buy the product that I was trying to return at that store because they didn't carry that type...they carried that brand, but not that type. Since the registers at the store have no modern scan capability, the receipts show nothing but prices and it is impossible to identify a specific item. So, after she called another manager over to tell me that I didn't buy the product at the store, I proceeded to continue with my other returns. When the checker asked me if I wanted my receipt back and I said yes, the initial manager came up, grabbed the receipt, and without a word took it to the copier, made a copy and filed it in her book. So, I left the store without a refund and with a product that I do not need AND it was very clear that they did not want me in the store again. I made no scene. I didn't get mad. The least Hobby Lobby can do if they do not have modern cash registers is be apologetic when a mix up like this happens. I get it. I am a reasonable person. When a cashier has a line 8 people long, they aren't likely to do a check on a return and that is probably how the product ended up on their shelf. It shouldn't really be my problem, but the nail in the coffin was being treated with such utter disrespect. Michael's here I come... read more

What can I say about Hobby Lobby that hasn't already been said by my fellow Yelpers? It's a hobby store. A fairly cheap one, but one nonetheless. I went here earlier this evening on a tip from my co-worker that they had a few science supplies. What I needed was a set of tongs to grab beetles and spiders and other insects for my bug collection. Well I found some decent tongs...in the paint and ink section. I was also looking for small glass jars to put the insects in temporarily while I'm collecting them. I actually found one in the science projects section, but it was for kids. They had 2 tools that could genuinely be used to catch bugs, a net and a vacuum gun, but they were both for kids and they were very cheap. The other 6 things they had related to bug collecting were giant models of bugs. That doesn't help any future entomologists. The funnest part about bug collecting is getting outside in the fresh air and actually finding the bugs. Sure these giant models can help them see the different part of the bugs better, but so will a magnifying glass and a real bug! I just wish there was a store somewhere in town that sold good quality science supplies. A guy can dream can't he? read more

This Hobby Lobby illegally charges sales tax on labor. I took in a picture to be framed, and the invoice separately stated what the charge was for labor and a separate charge for the frame. When I complained to the Manager that sales tax should not be charged on labor, his response was that "we always charge sales tax on labor". I complained to the BBB but that was a joke. Hobby Lobby never responded to my complaint, and the BBB just let it die. read more

My partner and I went to Hobby Lobby a few weeks ago and the cashier there would not speak to me nor would she hand My Partner our bags after being asked several times to do so. I wrote to the Company about what we perceived as discrimination. We received a form response. I wrote back to the Company saying how disappointed I was to receive a form response and that they where not treating customers equally and that I wanted a response from the Store Manager. Their lack of response is deafening. We will no longer shop at Hobby Lobby being that they are fine with acts of discrimination. I visited this store today in hopes of framing some prints of mine. I was floored at how rude and unhelpful the two men working there were. I even overheard one of the men harassing a female employee. There were next to none mats to do your own framing and next to nothing in frames. I would never go there again for framing. Normally everyone that works there is really nice and awesome, but not this last time. I was treated with extreme disrespect by a middle aged black woman named either Cheryl or Cherry I couldn't tell because the name tag was faded. The only reason I bring it up is in case a manager reads this when someone is up for a promotion or to be laid-off. She is the last one on staff that should be getting a raise, because her attitude chases customers like me away. If it weren't for her I would have given you a five star rating because of how helpful the other ladies have been in the past. I hate this Hobby Lobby, they never have their stock up to date. I have had to special order the most basic of craft necessities such as yarn. I went in 3 weeks in a row looking for black/white guinea feathers, but gave up looking and ordered online. I have since been in, and surprise, surprise, they still are not there. You're telling me, that a giant corporation such as Hobby Lobby can't keep their stock up to date?! I understand the economy sucks, but come on. I visited the new store in Rancho Cucamonga to find a barrage of Import Knick-Knack items that eventually filtered me into a medium quality assortment of Hobby related goods! I thought I was going into a Hobby Store but instead I walked into a TJ Maxx Homegoods/ The Alley/ Tai Pai Trading type store that also had some basic Hobby related neccessities towards the back...I'll stick to Michaels, and Pegasus Hobbies! Hobby Lobby is part general craft store, part home decoration store, part holiday decoration store. There are lots of fake plants, clocks, art, shelving, picture frames, vases, etc. to decorate with. They cover a large variety of crafts from sewing, knitting to beading to model airplanes. The problem is, is that because they cover such a wide range, they don't go too in depth with each type of craft. For example, they don't carry a wide variety of beads. While they have maybe one type of each type of wire/bead/clasp/etc, they may only have one choice. Also, knitting for example: they may only carry their "hobby lobby" brand of supply (for knitting it is Sue Bee I think). I have found that their brand is pretty crappy (beads- not precious metals, knitting- low quality, thin, non-natural materials). So if you are a die-hard crafter of any one type- DONT go here. You won't find any specialized or unique items. Also, the salespeople here DO NOT CRAFT and are NOT knowledgable about anything, so you better know what you are doing. Plus, they are not friendly, rude, and checking out takes forever. And the whole time you are forced to listen to the strangest and most horrible mix of weird holiday, Christian, and 70's music ever... I am not going back. read more

Will never shop there again!!! Tried to pick up a rain check item for my daughter who lives in MD and they could not find their copy - my daughter (from another state) still had her receipt and spoke to the store manager who said he could not honor the rain check. Even though a store associate had called my daughter to let her know the item was in (so they did have a rain check at that point) The item sold in December 2011 for $39.99 was on sale for 50% off. When I went in to pick it up it was now $49.99 on sale for 50% off. So for the sake of $5 and they would not refund the difference. The floor manager was rude, condescending, and didn't have the sense of a gnat. I wonder how many customers Hobby Lobby lost that day (as people were listening to our conversation at the front of the store) Donald Trump would have handled him...YOUR FIRED!!!! And as for me, there is always AC Moore and Michaels where the customer service is awesome! read more
