My hobby is going inside Barbi's lobby. Not a bad location of Hobby Lobby but they usually are understocked compared to some of the others and I'm never giving one of these locations more than three stars even though Barbi has become a big fan of them and some of their sales on craft goods. We choose JoAnn every time and it's morally a better choice too if you think about it. A store that openly supports the 1% and banning abortion and what not - you can't really support that. It's Hobby Lobby, what more could you want? Some of things I like about this location is the huge array of stickers and planner accessories for various name brands. I like that you can build one from scratch or use one of the ready made choices. Additionally the art supplies are very helpful for all types of artists. They have high quality markers, pencils, water pencils, paints, for your very serious artists or gals like me who enjoy to color as a hobby with spiffy high end supplies. At the entry you have all of the ridiculous over the top seasonal items. What I did was wait until post Christmas to buy the extra expensive stuff, but for a quick party and cute little decoration idea, it's really the great place to go. I've also bought several frames from them, especially shadow box frames that have been used for wedding bouquets and honeymoon pictures that continue to hold up years later. Also pro tip - the faux flowers work great if you need to save costs for cake decorations on a wedding. The house decorations in the middle are actually quite cute and pretty. With all this stuff, including sewing and fabric material, which isn't my jam, you are bound to find something or you'll end up doing what I do, which is waste endless hours there. My family always avoided shopping at Hobby Lobby because of their extreme religious beliefs. But we happened to be walking by when we shopped at Kohl's next door. We decided to go check it out simply because it's Christmas time. The store is huge compared to Michael's. There were tons of merchandise. Religious books are right in front of cash registers. Because of the name HOBBY, I know they must have lots of hobbyist stuff. Uh... not really. Just a few, not a whole lot. We only bought a cute ceramic gingerbread house at a discount. We were looking at miniature trees for the villages. But the color was way too blue. They don't have green trees. Oh well. Can't find anything else to buy. Very interesting to see there are no men working here. All ladies are not young. We had to leave because we were not comfortable shopping there. Customers acted very weird. Normally I love this location but today wasn't a pleasant experience. I was in line for what seemed to be forever, after they yelled register 5 is now open. I moved over to that line, then they walked away to help someone at another register, which is understandable. After standing in that line alone for about 8 minutes, the young lady looks at me, walks with another member and walks off. So now I have to go back in another line which put me back in line for another 15 minutes. A Manager comes to the front to see the lines overly long, call the same girl who was hiding from working the register- and guess what, the same girl who was hiding behind the decoration walk backs to her register, register 5 and calls someone up. It's very frustrating to have to watch this. Even more frustrating when it's on a short break you have. The store is clean, everyone has on mask, but this incident hanged my view on this location After waiting and watching a manager ring up an employee at the end register, while customers are waiting. If the employee was in line like the others and there were other people in that line he was also going to check out, that would've been perfectly normal.... In the future I would recommend anyone who can check out an employee, also take customers in that line when the lines are extremely long read more

This Hobby Lobby is large but I often avoid it when looking for any type of craft supplies. When I have been in here, there's plenty of staff walking around but not helping anyone. I asked one employee for help and she basically pointed to the back of the store and said "it's over there"... uh thanks. My husband had to wander from aisle to aisle as we listened to high school aged employees chat as they wandered around. I asked someone else and she said "oh I think you're in the right area". They completely lack any motivation or customer service skills. All I wanted was some Shrinky Dink plastic! When I found mostly what I wanted (they didn't have much to choose from), I went up front to pay. The manager up there was super nice and helpful and was able to help me get a teacher discount and a tax free sale (I have the proper forms). How can she be so pleasant and the rest of the staff be so incompetent? I will avoid this place whenever possible, since I don't want to look through all the aisles for hours on the hunt for things while the kids/employees earn their minimum wage for socializing. read more

Given the few locations of Hobby Lobby in the metro Houston area, I love that this one is close to my school. I can always rush in for art supplies, organizational equipment, and other things to simply ease the many stressed in life. They have a great staff, too! Each time I need matte boards cut up or anything framed, I can always count on the helpful staff at Hobby Lobby. Plus, they have amazing sales just about all year long! I'm also on Pinterest (who isn't?) and noticed ALOT of DIY materials here too. Like, if you're getting married and are planning to DIY alot of decorations, Hobby Lobby is the place for you!!! This store terrified me upon entering. Why are there two whole aisles dedicated to Christmas when it's September right now? Why does this place reek heavily of cinnamon apple/sandalwood/vanilla? It's easy to get overwhelmed when you come here, especially when you are a girl like me. I had a mission here. I needed piping tips and things for chocolate mousse plating. It doesn't help that this place is huuuuge. When I was ready to leave I actually ended up walking into a whole new section dedicated to fabrics and yarn... And that entire section was about the size of a Walgreens. When I finally found the baking aisle, I was sorely disappointed. The full aisle was not dedicated to baking, so the selection was lacking. They do have individual tips available for a dollar (Michaels offers this as well), but I was looking for a 24 piece tip set. They had one... For $60.99. You can easily find these sets online for $20, so no way. Forget it! Thanks Hobby Lobby for trying to screw your customers out of money. When I was just pondering the paint isle, a sweet worker asked if I needed help. I politely said I was just looking and he politely continued what he was doing. I came looking for a special type of paint that only hobby stores carry (and according to the product's distributor, Hobby Lobby carries), and it turns out they didn't have it. This is my second time in one week attempting to shop here. Sure, they have good items. My problem isn't with the items. My problem is with the incompetent staff that HL chooses to employ. They don't know where anything is, don't even get me started on trying to find an employee to help. I can manage, as I place my items in the basket- take note SECOND attempt at shopping here. I walk up to the front and yet a-gain....!?!!!! Only two registers open and about ten people waiting to check out. The first time we came here the exact same thing happened but only one register open at that time. We ended up having to walk out without our purchase. Second time? Busy. 2 registers. Nope- this time they get somewhat smart and open another register and call the LAST PERSON who came to the line to check out. Not the "next" person in line, but the newbie who showed up to check out... Now this is why I'll stick to Michael's. No, Hobby Lobby- you can preach your beliefs and try and get us in the door... but that no longer works with this woman. I'll take myself and family down the road to Michael's and spend my fun money $$$ there! The name of the store, "Hobby Lobby", is rather misleading. There's not much hobby-wise unless your hobby is mostly home decor and picture frames and some model crafting items. Home decor abounds here. That is pretty much the bulk of merchandise. There's much to choose from in silk floral arrangements of many styles. A variety of picture frames for all types of photography are also available. Seasonal decor is available with Christmas season being the most prominent. Quality ranges from cheap to decent. I've purchased a few good quality seasonal items here and am pleased with them. They do carry wicker type baskets but they lean toward cheaper quality. There are assortments of knick-knacks that range from figurines to hanging or standing pictures. If you like model cars and planes you'll find a pretty good selection here. There are some school type crafts, plain T-shirts for decorating in many colors and art supplies but not in a wide variety. Things can get a little overstocked and cluttered so patience and searching to a long way. Employees have always been friendly at times I've been in the store. The store is pretty big and easy enough to move around in even with a shopping cart. Overall Hobby Lobby is fine for a few seasonal touches or if you like silk florals and are in need of frames. There are some good decorative touches to be found but it may take some searching. read more

I've been a customer for years and enjoy the chain. Their selection of silk florals are the best of any craft store, and their prices are good. When they have a sale, they include most all their flowers whereas Michael's, for example, is bad about limited sales. I enjoy their selection of seasonal decor as well. Though this location is fine, it is often understocked and picked over compared to the newer one in Missouri City. They need to work on cleaning it up a bit as well. I absolutely love Hobby Lobby! They have a great selection of anything a crafter would need! This particular location is a nice store with everything generally pretty organized. However I am giving them only 3 stars because I have been displeased multiple times with the attitudes of the workers. I will say I've had wonderful happy ones, but the bad ones ruin it for them all. Usually when I check out and I have a coupon the sales person will let me know what my highest priced item was that I can use it on. I had a particular person the other day who seemed irritated that I asked and responded with attitude that they didn't know. Also, I went to pay with my gift card that I knew had more than enough money on it and they told me it didn't work because there was no money in it. I quickly called the number on the card and verified that there was money on it but the sales person still told me they couldn't do anything about it. I explained it had money and asked why it couldn't be fixed, and they shrugged and let me leave. I asked if I could get a new card so this would not happen again, and nothing. Luckily I ended up asking another sales person and they typed in the card number in two seconds and it worked! I understand this person may have not known exactly what to do, but ask someone! Don't just stand there acting put out when it's your job to help. This person was lazy and irritated and did not volunteer any solutions. I would expect better. read more

I've been to this location on several occasions looking for a variety of different items each time - and each time they do not have or are out of stock on most if not all items I need. I'm not looking for anything that random. Floral wire??? Why is this out of stock? And then I ask the manager where I could find another item that I could not locate... Pricing: The Pricing here is expensive. Remnants (1yd or less) are usually cheaper than what they are here. Joann Fabrics sells their remnants for an additional 50% off. Highly disappointed that they weren't on sale and that they do not price match things. Appearance: I will give this store credit for being very organized and clean. Especially in the fabric section. Nothing had dust on it and everything was tucked away nicely. Employees: Their employees at this location suck. Every time I have come to this store, the employees are distant, not smiling, and act as if they are bothered when you have a question. They work at a craft/hobby store, not a funeral home! My wife needed a pair of fabric scissor ( I have no idea there is such a thing ) and i was given the task of obtaining it. Since I have no clue to what it look like, my first thought was to go to Hobby Lobby instead of driving around to Walmart, Target, etc. I figured Hobby Lobby has everything related to art and craft. Lately, though when I go in there, it seem to have lots of well junk especially in the realms of home decor. However, if you can sift your way through all of that and know where to go for what you are looking for, they do tend to have more options than Michaels. I was in there today looking for rhinestone mesh trim, walked around everywhere and couldn't find it so I asked a lady who worked there who happened to be in the ribbon aisle.......HOLY RUDENESS!! Not only did she not say anything helpful but she didn't even look at me, had her back to me, and gave a snappy rude as hell answer. Clearly someone pissed in her coffee this morning. I proceeded to walk away to ask someone else; since I didn't walk in the direction she told me she yelled "it's the other way!" In an aggravated rude voice so I yelled "I know!" back to her. The next associate wasn't as rude but she still didn't help, and briefly gave me an answer and then turned away and kept working clearly not wanting to help. Had either one listened to me they would have known they don't carry that product! I finally asked a gentleman working in fabric and while he was very nice and helpful he then let met know it's not something Hobby Lobby carries. His niceness is they only reason I'm giving 2 stars instead of one! I don't care that they didn't have my item, I DO care that two associates were RUDE AS HELL to me. I'm always here because I didn't really know of any other close by craft stores, but since I discovered Jo Anns, I've pretty much abandoned this place. There are always staff around, stocking things or just walking from isle to isle, but no one ever actually helps you when you need it. I have asked for help finding something on several occasions, and multiple employees have either completely ignored me, brushed me off rudely, or told me it was in the "____" isle, without ever actually telling me what direction or leading me there. And I have had many rude cashier's ring up my purchases there. They all either sneer at me and spout off some scripted greeting, shove my purchases into bags roughly not caring if they break it or not, or just basically ignore me until I need to hand over money.
