As a rule of thumb I love Hobby Lobby for their variety and great pricing. Especially when they have 50% off deals like right now on Christmas items. The downfall is still the long lines that has a lot to do with them not using barcode scanners...will never understand why they don't. Biggest issue with this location is the absolute disaster the aisles are. I know they are a busy location and it's the customers making the mess but they need to have more staff cleaning up the aisles. My wife wanted to look at a Christmas Gnome that was only located on a very top shelf. There was no one to find to get a ladder and pull one down. My husband had a very uncomfortable experience at this Hobby Lobby. A security employee followed him around the store for no reason, and the cashier didn't speak or acknowledge him at checkout at all. He left feeling unwelcome and disrespected. This is a great store. It always has lots of inventory and items are reasonably priced. There is always a coupon or good sale on most items. They always have a few aisles of holiday items near the cash registers depending on the time of year. I never leave this store without finding something I need. The holidays have arrived at Hobby Lobby!!! I love to craft, especially at the holidays. And I can usually find everything I need here. Several years ago I created some "potion" bottles for Halloween and I found all sorts of different size, shape and color of glass bottles. More recently I put together Halloween and Fall banners and garlands and found a great selection of tulle, burlap and ribbon. They display everything so beautifully and even though I have a lot of holiday decor already, I can't help but browse the aisles to see what I might find to add to my growing collection. My only gripe is the customer service. Most of the cashiers are friendly but often there just isn't enough of them. And it's near to impossible to find someone out on the floor to help you if you have a question. Still, it doesn't stop me from shopping here! read more

This is not a review about Hobby Lobby as a business and has nothing to do with its products; rather it is about the Stockton, CA store specifically, the one on March Lane. I left a review about this store a couple of years ago and the issue about which I complained has not gotten better; instead it has gotten worse. The issue? The women's bathroom. You can typically smell the bathrooms as soon as you walk into the store; it is something like a combination of soap and fecal matter. It's disgusting. And there is a reason for the smell; the bathroom itself is disgusting. In the last couple of years, I can't remember a time I've used the bathroom without at least one of the toilets being backed up. Once - and this was what prompted my previous review - 3 of the 4 toilets were backed up! And I don't just mean they wouldn't flush; I'm talking fecal matter and the works. That particular time, I was told it was too close to closing for them to care. There was still more than an hour to closing, but the manager I spoke with didn't hesitate to tell me it wasn't an important issue at the moment. Besides just being nasty, the bathroom is also in horrible disrepair. For example, in the handicap stall, there are two holes in the sheetrock. There was one attempt to repair these, and I swear the patching job looked like a kindergartner did it! Since then, the patch has been broken, and the last attempt to fix the problem was to wad up some paper towel and stuff it in the hole. I guess that since the paper towel and the wall are similar in color, we're not supposed to see the hole anymore! Eye roll! Going on...one of the sinks is pulling away from the wall; toilet paper dispensers are broken and have been duct taped together (at least the latest fix used black duct tape so it's the same color as the dispenser); sanitary waste baskets have been pulled off the walls of the stall and are sitting on backs of the toilets; the soap dispenser has been broken for at least three years and has been taped up over and over and over!!! Additionally, there are other holes in other walls, and the changing table is not fit to lay your dog on! Seriously!!! I would never put a child on this changing table - not even with a blanket or a changing pad! Today, when I used the restroom, I was disgusted enough to take pictures and am posting them here. This is a manager issue; the store manager is clearly not doing his/her job and needs to be reprimanded by the company. This bathroom should be an embarrassment to corporate Hobby Lobby, and I hope someone from the company sees this review and these pictures and does something about this issue. The day I walked into a Hobby Lobby was the day my creative side had a chance to peak. I was walking aisle by aisle in wonderment. How could I use this and for which holiday? The home decor is gorgeous and the way it's displayed makes the colors stand out. Everything from art supplies, custom frames, yarn, fabric, flowers, baskets, gift wrapping, wedding and baby shower supplies, educational toys, scrapbooking and beyond. One store is just as stunning as the next. Today I visited the Stockton Location to purchase items that were on sale. The selection was outstanding for what I was shopping for. Tropical leaves a plenty. I left with beautiful stems and a few other items, all half price. Had to come right back to get something for my granddaughter. She found a very nice set of magnetic learning board and foam building blocks. We even saved on those by using the 40% off coupon. Winning! read more

Tl;dr at the bottom. So this just happened. I had stopped by hobby lobby after work to pick some paint supplies up for my girlfriend. I had been stuck in traffic for over an hour so i needed to use the restroom real bad. I asked an employee where the restroom was, and he directed me to the right place. When i got out of the restroom, i was confronted by the security guard and a man who i assume was a shift manager or something who stopped me and told me that i was to leave the store and not come back. When I asked for a reason i was told that under store policy they didnt have to give a one. I was so thouroughly blondsided by this that i didnt protest as much as i should have, all i really did was throw my hands up and say that i didnt i understand why i wasnt being allowed to shop and how ridiculous they were being while they herded me toward out the door. The only reason I can think of for them to kick me out is that they were under the assumption that i was planning on stealing something. I understand that i probably dont look like an 'average' hobby lobby patron. Im a 32 year old construction worker, i was still in my work clothes, so i wasnt exactly in my sunday best but i wasnt 'dirty' or anything. I dont think i look 'shady' and and even if i do profiling like this is not okay. I wish i had stood my ground, but i was just so surprised that i didnt push it. If i had refused to leave until they gave me a reason they would have called the police and when they got there they would have had to tell me why they were treating me like that. I just didnt think it through at the time and wanted to get out of a very uncomfortable situation. Ive never had anything like that happen to me and Im still upset by it and perplexed by their reasons for doing it... Tl;dr: i was kicked out and told not to come back before i really got a chance shop and they refused to tell me why. They deserve less than 1 star in my book. read more

Will not ever go back to Stockton Hobby Lobby, and definitely their loss on the amount of money I spend. I totally understand and abide by the early shopping hours for elders and high risk people. These days everywhere I go I look on their website for store hours. Looked a head and they only have the regular hours posted but when arriving at 9am was met at the door by employee stating couldn't enter until 10????? So went back to car and watched for about 20 minutes as they did the same thing to a dozen other people. They did let in one elder. Not that it matters to me now, but I'd post that you are doing special store hours. It would save people gas and a lot of wasted time. Again, will not go back. read more

WOW! Spent 2 hours in this store taking my time walking through each and every aisle. Floral, wedding, frames, art supplies, beads & jewelry, scrap booking, fabric, holiday, party, stamps, wood work, albums, paints, home goods by theme (man cave, zebra, dog lover, cowgirl), furniture, gorgeous pull knobs... just to name a few. They also rent out trellis arches and columns! Believe it or not I only spent $7! I took quite a few pictures of ideas I'm taking home and tweaking with thrift store finds. Lots of inspiration here. Much closer to me than Michael's or Joann's. Definitely outdoes Michael's but Joann's may have the better coupon deals so it remains to be seen. I asked the clerk at the register if we could show coupons from our phones and she said : YES! As long as they can see the number code. read more

Went in to look at their variety of jewelry making products just for the lights to be shut off then an announcement of them closing their doors soon was announced then the following minute they turned more lights off and was extremely rude when rushing customers out of their store only two minutes after closing they made an extremely rude announcement demanding the customers exits the store. When I was being checked out the cashier was extremely rude and kept asking if this was all I was getting and then informed me of their two options of payment after attempting to pay. Their seasonal department trumps everyone else! The prices are set at just the right point, affordable but not too cheap that you fear the product won't last. The customer service was friendly. There are crafts, hobbies, interests for every member of the family - even Dad! What pleasantly surprised me the most was their party supply section. I brought my puppy along with me to hobby lobby today since animals are allowed, I was holding her and she wasn't barking, she is clean, and is calm. Lula, in her heart of heart decided to start spouting absolute rude remarks. Saying the store shouldn't allow dogs in and that they are just flea bags blah blah. I tried to interject that animals are allowed and they are a hobby as well. She decided to blatantly ignore me and continued to complain about it to the customer she was working with. I tried to make a return and first she told me That I didn't get the item there in the store didn't cary the product (mind you I had my original receipt, and it was less than one week from original purchase). I don't recall what exactly it was, or maybe I went with my husband... I don't remember. What I do remember is all of the neat stuff they have! I've been back quite a few times for different things. I didn't know how much cool stuff a "Hobby Lobby" would have. I assumed it would just be a Michaels's crafts rip off. I'm glad I've come here! My gnome collection has grown substantially! I had a very large piece to be framed. 3' x 4'. I've been putting it off for a while because I knew it was going to be expensive. Shopped around today. First went by Aaron Brothers because they had a 50% off coupon (thanks for the heads up on that, Jenny T!). But their prices are higher so you're taking 50% off of a high price. They quoted me over $600 to frame that piece so with the coupon it would've been a bit over $300. My next stop was Hobby Lobby. I have dealt with them before. Specifically Randy. He is the bomb. I took my piece in there and Randy laid it out give me a price of $175 after their coupon discount. The price sounded a bit more reasonable so they got the job. I really like Hobby Lobby as an all-around store. I need to go in there more often and check out all of their neat stuff. I certainly would recommend them for your framing needs. The first Hobby Lobby that I visited was in Oklahoma a few years back. I was truly impressed with them then! I couldn't believe how cheap the prices were and how great of a selection the store had. When I recently visited the Stockton store, I was equally impressed with the selection, but I was sadly disappointed with some of the pricing. I had to remind myself that this is California and not Oklahoma, but still. Most of the stuff in the store is Made in China, but the prices don't reflect how cheap a lot of the merchandise really is. Things go on sale a lot, so maybe they mark up their prices to make their customers feel good by "discounting" them at the checkout? The store is HUMONGOUS, very clean, and well stocked!! All of the staff that I came across offered help and the lady working the check out couldn't have been sweeter. My advice, wait for things to go on sale before purchasing or utilize some of the coupons of theirs that I hear so much about. read more

THE DISNEYLAND OF CRAFT STORES!!! This place is basically like a Michaels + Joann + crafting junkies wildest dreams all in one. I had seen it from afar for a while but never had the chance to check it out. Today I went for the first time looking for some simple craft supplies for an upcoming project. As soon as I entered the store I felt like I had stepped into a new land of crafts galore!!! There are SOOO many aisles of everything you could even hope for. They basically have it all. Today they were unloading totes so a lot of stuff on the shelves were bare and some of the things I wanted multiples of were short in supply. Possibly Saturday would be a better time to visit... Prices were decent..probably a little cheaper if not the same price as most craft stores. Lots of sales going on and the staff was pretty helpful more or less...especially knowing where everything was in such a large store. Its also really nice to have such a resource near my school; the drive to Joann and Michaels is sometimes just too far!! Great location, great variety!
