Ray Rodriguez No Call No Show

Scheduled a surprise birthday massage for my mother Massage therapist (Ray Rosriguez) was a no call no show. Representative who answered the number said he didn't ger his email in time (booked hours prior). No confirmation email or call prior to the appointment either. They offered to reschedule, but it took a while to get here and was confusing enough to find so I'm getting a refund. Happy Birthday Mom

I had a really important exam to take last Friday and thought last minute that I should try to get a relaxing massage to calm my nerves. Knowing that I was calling the day of, I didn't expect anyone to take me, but Hoboken Wellness was able to fit me in for a session later in the day. I've never gotten a massage before but due to stress and nonstop studying for months, I knew my neck and shoulders needed some work. I told this to Mandeep (I think this was her name please correct me if not!) and she worked on those problem spots really well. She also found a lot of tension in muscles I didn't even realize I was straining and overworking lol. She was so great, super easy to talk to, and gave me that little push of motivation before my exam. The massage was so relaxing that I was exhausted at a decent time that night and well rested the next day. I was anticipating being sore since she really worked out those muscles, but I was surprised that the soreness wasn't anything noticeable that made taking a 6 hour exam uncomfortable. Support small businesses y'all!! This spa is owned by a sweet mother daughter duo and it's such a quaint little spot that was clean and relaxing.

I visited the spa for the first time over the weekend for a 60 minute couple's massage. Came across the spa on the Spafinder website since I had a $100 spafinder gift certificate I wanted to use and there are only a few massage centers in Hoboken that accept them that also do couple's massages in the same room (Health in Hands spa offers couples massages in separate rooms??). I ended up calling them to book the appointment since I wasn't sure of the gender of the masseuse's on the website and I wanted to request a male & a woman. Even though they took the request over the phone, they made a mistake booking and we had two female masseuses. The facility is located within the Citadel building in the basement level. I'd rate the ambiance a 5 or 6/10 - the space is a bit dated and could use some sprucing up and a deep clean. The staff there were very friendly and welcoming - they wished me and my boyfriend a happy anniversary. We both were pleased with our massages and found it to be very relaxing. It is on the pricier side - $266 for the massage + tax (then gratuity on top of it). Not sure if I'd book here again since there are other facilities closer to my apartment that are similarly priced, however, I have nothing overly negative to say about this place.

Had a DMK enzyme facial for recent inflammation and redness to my cheeks. It was exactly what I needed. Surry was absolutely wonderful! I will book again.

I came to the Hoboken Wellness Spa for a message and I left extremely satisfied. The owners (mom & daughter) were so nice and really made sure that everything went smooth. The hour massage was definitely worth it.

If you're looking for a great massage spot that doesn't give you the standard massage but gives an amazing one, this place is for you. I've been to several massage spots both on the higher end and on the affordable end, but have never received such a personal care until Hoboken Wellness Spa. I booked my fiance and I a Valentine's Day couple's massage with Brenda and Mandy and we were both so impressed that we asked for a membership. If you're into a massage where they hit all your knots and really go deep dive, this is it. It was also super cool to have a glass of wine and some chocolate covered strawberries and some blackberries. As a plus, if you like supporting small local owned Businesses - support this one!! This business has been around for 7 years and they are pretty much family. It's just three of them! I think that's pretty impressive.

My skin before treatment You can see just light freckling and a small sun damaged splotches on my cheekbones and under eyes.

This is what I would call a "middle-of-the-road" place, pretends to be a spa but is somewhere between a $60 NYC massage parlor and outright rub-and-tug swindle joint. There is no "$90 tip included" massage (whomever planted that review is either female, or one of the staff/friend of the place). Expect to pay $90 plus be extorted for a generous "tip" that is NOT optional. They intentionally have a 2-way lock installed on the door that is controlled from the 2nd floor, so they can literally LOCK YOU INSIDE if you refuse to leave a "generous tip" (OVER 20%). They have a sign saying "suggested 20% tip" which is a JOKE. For a $90 massage, I asked to tip $15 and the woman basically refused to give me change, then rudely took a phone call while talking LOUDLY in (Thai/Chinese?), clearly saying "Eff You". I demanded change and was lucky to be let out of this prison. While the massage itself was good, I will not tolerate being HUSTLED and SCAMMED by basically sex workers who pretend to be a normal / semi-upscale massage/spa, and then hold you ransom if you don't PAY UP. [There is a word for this type of scam in Japan... These people are definitely not Japanese, but it's right up there with that level of shadiness.] Nice, relaxing massage RUINED by the scammer sex-worker "pay more or else we'll lock you inside and talk rudely on the phone while ignoring you while you ask for change" vibe. Generally, a run down "spa" that is just sex workers in disguise. BTW, get a new plumber, because your sad excuse for "tile work" where your lame "handy-man" basically slapped a bunch of grout and glue all over the wall all around the faucets while replacing your failed plumbing -- essentially ruining what was once a nice original tile job from the early 2000's -- is outright ghetto. At least for way you're hustling customers, it's reassuring to know you got scammed by a sad wanna-be plumber (probably your family member), who doesn't know WTF they're doing and destroyed your entire 400sf "sauna" tile shower with shoddy, horrid looking workmanship that looks like it was done by a 4th grader.

Fifteen minutes into our 90-minute couples deep tissue massage, I saw my husband's therapist, Lydia, typing on a lit smartphone while leaning over him. When she realized I saw her, she hid the phone under the sheets. There is no version of this that is acceptable. Texting during a paid massage is blatant misconduct. It didn't stop there. My husband repeatedly asked her to focus on his neck and shoulders and avoid his feet. His requests were ignored. The technique was lazy and mechanical - repetitive forearm circling with little to no pressure, despite requesting deep tissue. He left feeling like he didn't receive a massage at all. When we raised the issue, the owner acknowledged the behavior was "unacceptable" yet offered only a 25% discount - as if actively texting during a massage, ignoring repeated client requests, and delivering a substandard service were minor inconveniences. This wasn't just a bad massage. It was a complete lack of professionalism and accountability. We will not be returning.

There are a few different pools, each with their own temperature and/or benefits. Don't miss the bath upstairs with a beautiful skylight! My massage was an ok experience - pressure fluctuated throughout, so it was hard to pinpoint when to tell her to go harder or softer. Even though there were a lot of people, it didn't seem too crowded in each pool at any point. The ambience is very dark, calming, and relaxing. Our choices were staying in the city and going to one of the other Korean Spas or check out this heavy influencer/IA one -- we decided to try this one since it was conveniently outside of the city, but not far. Parking is annoying but not hard. They do have valet, but that area was a bit congested to get in and out. It was a bit pricey just for admission, but I guess it could be worse. The facility is beautiful. I just hate how overcrowded it was. We could barely find a spot in the pool. When we did, we decided not to leave for a while from that one spot. The pool with the view of the construction across the street and then the water was beautiful. Just really have to ignore the construction site, but where else you going to get a pretty view of the NYC skyline, wading in a pool on some upper floor? When we had our fill, we went to check out the other sections. The outdoor garden pool area was cool. I liked the different types of heated water and the nice waterfall. Still crowded. Went upstairs to the different saunas - they were really nice! My favorite was the K-body scrub. For 30 minutes, it was $75, which was totally worth it! All other places I've been to, made you do it for an hour with all this other foo-foo stuff and I loved that this K-body scrub was just a K-body scrub! Oh the feel of cleanliness! The food court area had really good food! Although overcrowded, it was well organized and thought out with how they serviced. (I've been to worse spas). We went to the quiet area to catch a nap before our 4 hour drive. People do NOT know how to be quiet in a quiet area and they had attendants shushing people but that didn't really do much. There was a cool Japanese sand experience that you can see from the food court window, watching all these people get buried under the black sand for treatment. Maybe I would try on a future visit. The infinity pool on the rooftop was beautiful. But once again crowded with people who were trying to get a break from the city. Young people who wanted a social place to eat, drink, hang out and get a tan while wading in the pool with the beautiful skyline of NYC. Yes, I would definitely go back even though it was so crowded. It was a great experience. I would have given 5 stars if not for how annoyed I was with people. I really enjoyed the esthetics of the place, the food, and the bath house inside with the hot tub and cold plunge. My favorite is still the K-body scrub. If I'm in that area again, I would definitely give it another go.
