No communication. Notified that oil delivery was coming a week ago. No delivery made. No notice that there was a problem. Customer service rep indicated that one of our two accounts was late to pay. Hard to believe since both accounts are paid at same time. Received a statement of amount overdue yesterday, however had not received a bill for three months. Rep indicated and admitted that there was no reach out to the customer. They shut down both of my accounts without contact. Poor customer service. Poor communication. Poor service because delivery will not occur for at least couple of days. I asked about if there happened to be a freeze up in this weather. I have been with Hoffman at my present house since I built my house in 1994. Always great service. During a snow storm of 12 inches a few years ago I lost my hot water. I called Hoffman for service and within an hour I had a service truck in my driveway. Excellent service and professional personnel at all times. I just spoke to a pleasant woman , Ebony Williams , to renew my price contact. It is people like her that make Hoffman a premier company and keep me as a customer! read more

Very disappointed after being with this company since 2009. Something has gone way down hill! Poor customer service and high prices. Automatically billed me for a service contract without any notice (never did the tune up service from the previous year!). I had to call to get the fee taken off my account and then call again to remove the late fees from that charge. They also refused to do the missed tune up unless I paid for a new service contract. I am glad they bumped the heating oil rate at the end of my first year because it prompted me to look at other companies. Even after I spoke to a customer retention specialist there, the rate she offered me was so much higher, even as oil prices were much, much lower this year. After a quick internet search, I was able to find rates that were half of what Hoffman wanted to charge us. Naturally, I bid Hoffman adieu, and off to a better experience, with better pricing. Nasty people. Nasty customer service. I was a customer for 4 years. Never again. They are owned by Champion Energy - frankly, they are just too big to care. I have used local companies in the past. I will never use Hoffman again. Their prices are ridiculous. They admit they are more expensive but the account lady to me "We are worth it." They are not worth it. Slow to respond. No special requests. For example, they could not deliver during a blizzard (totally understandable) but then they simply waited another month. By that time the oil tank had 10 gallons in it. Of course, the sludge got stirred up, the furnace clogged. They refused to deliver before that because "we aren't in your area until the end of the month". DO NOT USE THEM! read more

So in December I had a chimney fire..FD shows up ,eversoutce and Hoffman Fuel. Due to the age of my chimney it needed sleeves to be put it . Used space heaters until we were able to get Max the Chimney sweep out to my home which by the way I would give that company 10 stars if I could. So fast forward to HF,the tech comes out toy home recleans the system that they cleaned in March 2023 so twice in one year. They proceed to send me a letter and tell me they won't be delivering oil anymore u til I get a new tank . Really ? Them they send me an email that says it's either the water heater or oil tank ... So I guess you just pick and choose which one is the most expensive them had the nerve to call me and ask when a tech could come out to look at .y system ....never that's when.They are so full of bs,so in March my oil tank was ok 9 months later it's an issue . But Thank God I don't have to deal with them ever again. read more

Wrong diagnosis of the problem causing the overheating of my home which cost 1000s in heating oil, just the perfect situation for Hoffman to make a lot of extra money selling then the overpriced oil to me. Customer for years...until they recently delivered fuel to my 90 year old mother 3 days after the contract expired at $1/gallon more than it would have cost 3 days before in contract...UNETHICAL!! Refused to work with us to negotiate a compromise rate for the un-requested delivery. Will take our three accounts to Kaufman Fuel...much lower rates also. Chris B. read more

Very expensive even during the pandemic they are charging $3 per gallon! Asked them for a payment plan because we are quarantined and was told no, if I don't pay the full amount they were going to stop delivering, was thankful at the end because I was able to terminate my contract with. read more

I have been a customer for many years. My father started with them and since I took over the house I have kept them as my fuel supplier. It's been a total of more than 50 years. I have never had any problems with them. They are always ready to serve you when you need them without any delays. Very happy and satisfied with their performance. read more

Stay away from this company, they waste your time with there lie's. There staff and service tech people don't know how to treat customers and they have teaser entry rates, to get you to buy fuel from them and then slap you with there outrageous high prices. There service calls are worst then cable company as they show up 3 hrs after the time they said they were coming. There customer service sucks and they told me to go elsewhere to buy fuel as they think they are to big to fail. Take my advise stay away, unless you like terrible customers service and outrageous high prices for fuel. These guys went the extra mile for us. We had a set date/time for the yearly service call, but i was in and out of the house all day. I was out when the arrived, but left the garage open so they could enter the basement. They would not go in unless OK'd by someone, and the phone number on record was an old one, so we missed the window. When i called, they offered to reschedule at a later date, but the timing was not easy to match. They ended up sending the crew back the same day, which was GREAT for me. Worst customer service and they gouge you on prices. My father has this company and I pay his bills for him and I finally looked at the per gallon price and almost fell out of my chair. It was over a FULL DOLLAR more than we pay for our oil. I could see a difference of maybe 30 or 40 CENTS a gallon, but over a dollar? You have got to be kidding me. I am in the process of finding another oil company and convincing my Dad to change over. Also, they charged us for a service contract I cancelled! They have no customer service what so ever!!! Anyone who says they give them 5 stars must be their family. Read the people who say they have the worst service ever. It's the truth. I set up an account for propane and paid for them to install the tank. When I bought a stove the tech came and said there is a tiny piece missing and I should request it from the company and he will come back for the connect and it will take less then 5 minutes. He assured me will get a bill for the visit but NOT WHEN HE COMES BACK. I asked him to repeat it 2 times and he assured me. This little installation was about $200. I paid the bill as he said and a couple of weeks later the tech came back to do the 5 min. install. 2 weeks later I get a 2nd bill and I call Hoffman to advise them I wasn't supposed to be charged. The woman said she would have to check. I called 4 more times and they never answered me about the bill. I PAID for the gas but not that 2nd tech visit. I come home from work to cook, and they turned off the gas. WITHOUT ANY NOTICE. Without even answering me about speaking to the tech who promised the 5 min. visit would not be charged. We are talking about $200 for 5 minutes!!! The only way Hoffman would turn back on the gas for me to cook (I only have gas for cooking and use them for oil for heating). It's called blackmail. They are awful and thieves. I wouldn't recommend them to my enemies, that is how bad they are. BEWARE!!! read more

I set up a service visit when I set up the account. I of course forgot the date. I contacted them in January to find out when they were coming. They forgot they had to make a visit. I was told I could wait until June for an appointment or go on a waiting list. It is over a month later and I have not heard from them. I have contacted them twice. They responded to the first contact but not the second. I do not think I will. I will not pay for the service call. I will, however, find another site to express my dissatisfaction. read more

We have had Hoffman service for several years. They have always been responsive and reliable. Their prices might be a little higher than other oil companies but I don't mind as their service technicians are knowledgeable and educated in their fields. When something breaks down they know how to fix it. We are totally satisfied with this oil company. read more

Reasonalbe oil prices but customer service is poor. I took a day off to be home for the annual servicing of my boiler, 1 to 4 pm window. At 2 pm they called and cancelled because they were too busy with emergency calls. It was 45 degrees outside. I wondered then what it would be like on a cold day. I found out. More recently, the heat went out the evening after they replaced my oil tank. We went out right after the installation, and when we got home (late) the heat was out. I called the 24-hour emergency number and was told be patient it would be a while. I was prepared to wait a few hours. Service person arrived just before 8 am. (It was a problem with the tank installation.) No heat all night. 30 degrees -- still not real cold. You can call 24-hours-a-day, but that doesn't mean they have 24-hour service. Service group is obvisously not staffed adequately. When it does get really cold and they get understandably busy, you don't want to be signed up for this company's service plan. After a number of years with Hoffman, I've changed companies. I will say the people I dealt with are really very nice. Plumbing, tank replacement, service, oil sales. Unfortunately, that doesn't make up for the deficient service -- twice. read more

I have worked with this company for only one year and I have to say it has been the worst experience so far. Their customer service is very non chalant about your needs. They fail to disclose details of how they do things. When you need them available they give you the run around and look for ways to ignore you or charge you money. I signed up for a service contract that cost roughly $300 and when my boiler didnt work they claimed that my service contract did not cover that part even though it was one of the main components of the boiler. They claim their contract only covered 10 parts and I had to pay extra. Unfortunately I had no other choice than to pay them additional funds. I scheduled an annual inspection for early December and their technician would not wait 5 minutes so we had to reschedule the inspection till February even though the technician was available. I called the company and they simply did not care and told me I had to wait. At this point I was frustrated and decided to cancel my contract as of 1/31/2014 which is when my contract with them ends. They said I could not cancel before then because I would be charged $499 if I did. So I asked them to make it effective 2/1/14. Unfortunately, my boiler needed work done today on 1/22/14 and since I am still under contract till the 31st I figured it would not be an issue at all. I assumed wrong. The company claims my service contract only runs through 1/1/14 and my pricing contract runs through 1/31/14. I could not understand this since I began both contracts on the same day. Their response was that this is just the way it is. I asked them how would I have know this and they claim that I should of asked. Stay away from this company at all cost. They will only make your life difficult and they do not hold up their end of the bargain. STAY AWAY. read more
