We were given a price for a vehicle and were made to wait with the understanding that this was the price we were dealing with. Daryl then changed the price. When I questioned the difference and showed him the information that HE had printed, instead of acknowledging it, he told me that I "couldn't read it correctly." Once I showed him exactly what was printed on the paperwork, his response changed to, "I have to make a profit." That statement told me everything I needed to know. If the original price was incorrect, that should have been explained honestly from the beginning--not after we had waited and were prepared to move forward with the purchase. Changing the price and then attempting to make the customer believe they misunderstood clearly printed information is unacceptable. What concerned me even more was the manner in which I was spoken to and treated. Based on the totality of the interaction, I personally felt that there was a racial component to the disrespect and dismissiveness I experienced. I do not make that statement lightly. As a consumer, I expect transparency, professionalism, and for a business owner to stand behind the information he provides. I received none of that here. Based on my personal experience, I would strongly warn others against doing business with Daryl or this establishment. If you do choose to deal with this business, I would advise getting every price and representation in writing and reviewing everything carefully before agreeing to anything. I cannot recommend this business, and I personally would not do business with him!

Backstory: Years ago I restored my 65 Chevy SS to original condition & took it to Pete's shop for final repairs to be made (suspension, engine restoration etc...) after paying appx $10K for this work to be completed, 3 days prior to my scheduled pick up I received a call that my car had been stolen, while in his care. After investing almost $60K into this project my vehicle was GONE, never to be seen again and I didn't receive as much of an apology from this man (It was later revealed that my car was taken to a radiator shop while in his possession to have the AC work completed, where it was "taken" which I was never made aware of that my vehicle would be leaving his possession at any time). After months of going back and forth with insurance I received payment for my loss but nothing in comparison to the amount actually invested in the vehicle, again Pete never offered an apology for the incident or inconvenience he caused me as a result of this. Anyone that is a classic car collector understands the value of the vehicle is rarely monetary and the pride is in watching the car come together from beginning to end is what matters more than anything and I was never able to drive my finished vehicle. After stepping away from restorations completely I decided to give it another go with my current 75 Buick convertible Le Sabre (41K original miles) which brings us to today. I had my car towed to CCU for an estimate on an engine restoration. I was originally scheduled a date in Jan, then told my date would have to be rescheduled to 3/21 which I understand with everything being behind due to Covid. I had my car towed to the shop where I was quoted a price of appx. $4K/$5K for the work to be completed then the next day I received a call from the manager with a new quote of $15K/$20K, I understand prices can vary but there was a major difference in pricing here with no real explanation as to why. Once I received the new quote I requested minor changes instead (new window moldings, passenger mirror adjusting, intake manifold painted, breather/valve cover painted and the grill polished) this is work I know this shop is known for doing because it's been done for friend's of mine vehicles AND the my vehicle that came up missing. I was then told by the manager that in his personal opinion the car isn't worth it - I never asked his opinion and it wasn't his place to give it. As a result I had my car towed back home where it is currently, I personally feel the manager is a racist and didn't want to be bothered with my vehicle at all. After having my first vehicle stolen while in the possession of this shop, I trusted him with my newest collection and this is the treatment I received? Please consider looking elsewhere for custom work if you were considering this place.

No orange peel, perfectly aligned, and correctly polished. It truly looks factory, as if nothing was ever done. The woman (Kathleen, who is absolutely awful) took the part off and snapped it in half and put it in my trunk like garbage, even though I specifically asked them to get the part back to me so I could reattach it. I asked for a refund for the $72 (1 hour of labor for 15 minutes of work) and she refused and lectured me on the phone for 10 minutes arguing with me. If they hadn't snapped it in half, I would've been able to spend $20 and reattach the bumper. However, now I have to spend $180 on the part and I'm already out $72 that they refuse to refund me. Go to Glenbard Auto Body in Lombard if you have time to drive a bit further!!! Don't waste your time or money here with these unprofessional people.

They told us the best they could do was for us to drop the vehicle off & it would take 1/2 a day as it has to go to the Detail Shop. She asked if she could drop it off on Friday & was told we are too busy on Fridays - Really? I work in the Customer Service world where I work with our clients in the automotive industry on a daily basis. If I responded to someone the way my wife was, my Supervisor would reprimand me for sure. Needless to say, we are not using this shop again, as we have never been treated so rudely by anyone.
