Enjoyed ourselves so much we forgot to get photos of the beer and of the food before we started eating! Pretzels, chips and guac, and tenders were delicious. The beer cheese was a hit across the whole table! All of the beers and cocktails were good. The outdoor seating area is casual with picnic tables or plastic lawn furniture. Some tables outside had servers while others didn't - it wasn't clear why the inconsistency. We ended up ordering from the bar which wasn't a problem. Note that is place gets BUSY! We knew this so we were there about 20 minutes before they opened - and there was a line of about 50 people by the time noon rolled around. It also took about an hour to get our food. We were there for the good weather and good company, but keep it in mind if you arrive hungry and/or in a hurry.

Nice brewery with good beers and drinks. Didn't love that we had to clean our own table. The servers walked by, but didn't bother to clean up the glasses from previous guests. I had ordered the blueberry lemonade - it was delicious. My boyfriend had a beer and enjoyed it. We wanted to buy the beer for takeout in cans, but sadly they were sold out. We ordered the sweet potato fries and fish tacos. The sweet potato fries might be the best we've ever had. The dipping sauce was great too. The fish tacos - horrible and very small. Would not recommend them. Extremely chewy with no flavor. We were so bummed out.

Lots of tables outside. Go through the inside to then enter the outdoor eating/sitting area. You do have to wait for a hostess to seat you though if you are eating. Several people tried to just sit at picnic tables on their own and were told to move. We got a table quickly despite the crowd. Ordered fish and chips and the sausage flatbread. Both were good as were the beers we tried. Seems like an area favorite as there were lots of cars/people there for dinner time. There are some Adirondack chairs etc for those just grabbing a beer and hanging out. Those were first come/first serve and didn't need a hostess.

Because of COVID, they only have outdoor seating available. The seating is picnic table style, family friendly, but can only seat 6 people in a table by law. The beer are solid and the food menu is decent with many choices. We came here when it's pouring out... Glad the seating is under a big tent! Definitely worth checking out if you are in the area.

Stopped here on our journey along the cape cod bike trail. There's ample space to park your bike, a beautiful lawn with outdoor seating and table service. They have a full menu and the food was decent. Beer was great. They also have a separate raw oyster bar right on site. What more can you ask for!?

Hog Island Beer Company is a craft brewpub that opened in Orleans, Massachusetts in June 2016. It was founded by business partners Mike McNamara and Mark Powers. In 2012, the two partners bought the old Jailhouse Tavern which opened in Orleans in 1984. Eventually the two decided to open an adjoining brewery. Mac Gallant (who owns Local Break restaurant in nearby Eastham) came on board as a third business partner for both the Jailhouse Tavern and the new brewery. John Kanaga was hired to be the brew master. The brewpub was given the name "Hog Island" in reference to an uninhabited parcel in Pleasant Bay. There's a local legend that infamous pirate Captain Kidd buried some treasure there. The official tagline for the brewpub is "The Outermost Brewery". I visited Hog Island for the first time recently when I was on a week-long vacation in Cape Cod with my family. While my wife took our son to a local playground, I cycled to Hog Island from our Airbnb (via the Cape Cod Rail Trail). I initially didn't realize that Hog Island and Jailhouse Tavern were separate and yet connected businesses. Although there is a wall separating the two businesses, food from the tavern can be ordered and served at the brewery, while beer from the brewery can be ordered and served at the tavern. The two businesses are connected via the kitchen. Hog Island had a pretty cool taproom with a stage for local music acts. The full bar area features a cutout Winnebago on the back wall (a tribute to life on the beach). They even had a staff member shucking fresh oysters for customers. I wasn't particularly hungry, but I was pretty thirsty after my ride. I ordered a sampler flight consisting of a pale ale, a stout, an IPA, and a New England IPA. I think that the latter was my favorite offering. I would stop by again if I'm in the area and I'm interesting in trying the food from Jailhouse Tavern.

Great addition to the Cape scene. This place took Old Jailhouse and turned it into family cool brew scene. I am impressed. Cape Cod Beer keeps updating its community activities. Good beer. Devils Purse keeps killing it with great beer. I am a loyalist of both. Now Hog Island turning Cape brew stuff into a totally family thing? With some good beer? And eats? And games? And live cool band? Hot damn.

The spot in Orleans is wonderful. Their beer and food is excellent, and lots of good live music. Great outside setting in nice weather.

The bartender was very nice. The beer selection was heavily weighted towards hazy NEIPAs, which I understand--they sell! (I teach beverage at the Culinary Institute of America). I ordered two beers, a corn lager and a maibock. The lager was good, but the maibock was technically flawed, with diacetyl (movie popcorn butter smell) and I think some acetalaldehyde (cooked vegetable) smells/flavors. Not terrible, not great, and 10 oz. pours were priced like pints at other breweries. Here comes the bad part, though. We also ordered some clam chowder and pretzel bites. We got the food at our inside table and the chowder was the worst we've ever had in our lives. Campbells and Progresso well exceed the quality of this 'soup'. It didn't taste like clams, there was no discernible seasoning or flavor from onions or garlic, and it had obviously been thickened (into glop) with cornstarch. It might also have been scorched during cooking. It was so bad that we each took two bites and had to stop. And we are *not* picky eaters. The pretzel bites (for $15) were plentiful, but obviously a commodity product heated up...barely. The beer cheese dip was good and the mustard had a nice kick, but that much money for a pile of frozen pretzel bites is ridiculous. So, $40+ for two 10oz beers and food so bad we threw 90% of it in the garbage. The staff was nice enough, the live music outside was bad, but the food. Holy moly the food was terrible. Oh, and the beers weren't great. We will not be going back, and don't think you should go either.

We got there fairly early but the first band had already started, and the area under the tent was already full. We got some drinks, checked out the space and eventually we were able to snag some chairs under the tent. The outside beer area had alcohol drinks as well. 2 of us had tequila drinks, and 2 tried the beers. We were all really happy with our choices. All of the food there came from food trucks, and there were a lot of random vendors, which made it a fun, unique experience! All of our food and drinks were great. I also bought a few hats- the hat selection was really good from the band and the brewery. They also had a shop along with the other vendors who were set up. We stayed longer than expected- the first band (Grateful Dead cover band) was amazing, so we stayed to check out the second band (who were really good also). We eventually gave up our seats under the tent to some very happy people! We will definitely go back to the Cisco brewery the next time we're in Nantucket- it was a great experience all around! Everyone we encountered- whether they worked there, or weee there for fun were very nice and friendly. There was a dance area in front of the stage and people definitely used it - so there was great people watching in a super fun setting!

Funari, Kiley and Sherman frequently got together on weekends to embrace their love of homebrewing. After doing this for a number of years, and building up a local following distributing their home-brews from a blue cooler, they decided to open a brick & mortar brewery and taproom. At this time, DiBona came on board as a partner and assisted with the search for a location. After exausting all options in the seaside town of Hull, the partners acquired a 3,000-sq-ft space in the "craft beer friendly" town of Weymouth. The name "Vitamin Sea" was chosen to reflect Funari's love of surfing and surf culture. The brewery quickly gained a reputation for their juicy New England IPAs, decadent Stouts, and experimental Fruited Sours. A second location opened along the waterfront in Plymouth in May 2024. I recently visited Vitamin Sea's Plymouth location while I was in town for the day. I was scheduled to meet up with some other beer bloggers at a different brewery later. I soon realized that Plymouth has an excellent craft beer scene and decided to head to Vitamin Sea first. The Plymouth facility is a beautiful location along the waterfront. I really liked the nautical/surf design theme too! I grabbed a seat at the bar and began to look over the menu. I heard that the Plymouth location is known for their excellent ciabatta sandwiches, so I ordered the "Parm to Table" (oven-roasted chicken cutlet, house-made marinara, melted mild & aged provolone, Parmesan, whipped lemon ricotta, basil on toasted ciabatta). It was the BEST chicken cutlet sandwich I've ever had in my life! What made it stand apart from other sandwiches? The whipped lemon ricotta! I washed it down with a pour of "Currency Check" (Double New England IPA), followed by "Mexican Blanket" (Imperial Stout). The beer, like the food, was fantastic! I must also point out that the staff were so friendly, knowledgable, and helpful throughout my visit. I highly recommend Vitamin Sea Brewing and look forward to visiting their Weymouth location!
