I was super excited to try this place, but was honestly a bit disappointed with how it turned out. For starters, it was extremely loud, and it was pretty hard to hear the people I was sitting with. Additionally, the bathroom was dirty and tiny. And finally, the my food wasn't great. I ordered a chicken Caesar wrap, and was super disappointed. The wrap was too wet, the chicken had no seasoning and was ice cold, and the lettuce was extremely moist and slimy. It just didn't taste fresh. Also very little Caesar dressing. The only good thing in my meal were the fries and the pickle. I will say, however, the service was pretty good. Our waitress was super nice and got our food out quickly despite it being packed. They also had a bingo game going which was cool. I would come here for fries and drinks, but not really for the food.

I loved our visit here. I had see a lot of tiktoks recommending this spot and I can see why. It has some vintage charm, like it's been a staple for locals and tourists alike. We were sat as a patry of 5 fairly quickly and good service from our server. We tried a couple local brews and everyone ordered their respective dishes. I tried the lobster bisque and pesto chicken sandwich. It was excellent! The bisque was creamy and had a fair amount of lobster. The chicken was a little different as it wasn't a breast but chunks of chicken, maybe also used in salads? Overall, it's a little "grungy" but has that taver/pub vibe. I would love to come back again.

Waited a long time (over 20 yrs) to come back to this establishment tonight! We're at the CB Inn down the street and couldn't leave tomorrow without enjoying their fresh scallops. I ordered them for take out and waited over 25 minutes. Got them as soon as they came out of the kitchen, drove 2 minutes back to the hotel and the dish was cold. The "mushroom" risotto had an overtone of fish (perhaps made with a fish broth-overall unpleasant taste) and was complete mush. The scallops weren't cooked at all and therefor rubbery. The asparagus was cooked perfectly, had a beautiful char and was actually warm. $40 for 6 broccoli spears is a huge disappointment though. Sorry Squire... next time I'll have go for the clams!

The Chatham Squire - Chatham, MA Rating: 1 out of 5 The Chatham Squire has a long history--over 50 years as a local favorite on Main Street. It's known for its casual, rustic tavern vibe and its reputation as a community hangout. But my visit didn't live up to the hype. We ordered: * Fish and chips - average, nothing special. * Fish taco - dry, flavorless, and honestly one of the worst I've had. It needed lemon, garnishes, anything to give it life. Even the salsa didn't help. * Clam chowder - just okay, but not worth coming back for. The atmosphere was lively, and our server did her job. But the host--a tall man at the entrance--was rude and cold. Not welcoming at all. It immediately set the tone for the rest of the visit. I came here expecting a solid seafood spot, maybe even a surprise hit. But this felt like a tourist trap. The food lacked flavor, the vibe wasn't friendly, and even the promise of a coffee place nearby turned out to be nothing. I eat out a lot, and this isn't it. Chatham has much better dining options. What an adorable spot.. if you want a true pub feel, this is the spot to go. We had 4 adults and two kids with us, and they offered coloring pages for the kids which is always appreciated. The food did take a while so I would suggest ordering quickly if its busy (which it was when we were there). The clam chowder was excellent, as well as their burgers and fries. Whenever we are back in the Cape we will definitely be stopping in again! (hot tip: For any Squire swag.. go to the specific Squire storefront across the street!)

License plates cover the walls. Was this one from a Porsche owner! IYKYK.

I love places like "The Squire" so much. You have an immediate feel of belonging. I can name 10 other bars/pubs where I feel the same way. We sat at the bar which is at the center of the "bar side" of the restaurant. Seating all around the bar itself and seating at a shelf/bar along one side. A couple of TVs had a game on. The walls are covered in signs and license plates from all around. Can you find the bears? Drinks were good. Painkiller for me, Cape Cod Margarita for my wife. We were snacking our way around so we just grabbed the Nachos. We could have shared them with two more people and probably still not finish them. Bar tender was great, engaging everyone around the bar. The place was busy, but they kept up nicely. High tops in the back and a pool table off to one side created a little something for everyone. A must stop anytime I'm in Chatham.

Can definitely see why this place is such an institution. Bartenders are super friendly and have a heavy pour. Drinks aren't stupidly priced. You could spend hours looking at everything on the wall. There's also a bunch of bras hanging up in the back which is somehow very captivating. Worth stopping in.

Apparently a local mainstay. Fun bar and atmosphere with an array of memorabilia everywhere. We stopped in for a snack specially for their famous Costello - half chowder and half bisque - soup. It was solid. We also had a Caprese salad which was a special and it was fine. Service was on point.

Retro tavern ambience and very good food. We had no issues with the service and were seated right away despite having eight people.

Horrible service, "said hey boss can I get a coors light" was told to "calm down". Very soft for a dive bar.

We sit at the bar and after 5 minutes or so, we place our drink order. So far so good. We then place our app order. Stuffed quahog and the Portugese Littlenecks. Nothing too ground breaking here. Littlenecks cook in about 6 minutes and I am sure the quahog is ready to be popped in the oven on the prep line. 45 minutes later, no apps. Bartender is back in the kitchen 3 times. Still no apps. We get to talking to a local resident next to us who ordered a salad with salmon, and she says that this was her second try at the restaurant as well and no realizes why she never came back. Her salad took about an hour. For a salad... Ok, so now we place dinner. Well we should have just paid at that point and gone to the Squire for a burger cause now we wait another hour for our dinners. Which when they come out are ice cold. Mind you we had baked cod and a pasta dish. Neither of those should take more than 20 minutes to prep. We have now been in this place over 2 hours and didn't get to eat a dinner. What a huge disappointment. Sad thing is this place can get away with bad service because they are attached to an inn in downtown. So people will never stop eating there. But hopefully with a few more bad reviews, they will figure something out or close.

The wedge salad and Thai chicken dumplings were a great start. And the pan seared salmon and pan seared swordfish were also very tasty with interesting sides. But, the baked stuffed shrimp was only okay, as the orange-citrus sweet sauce was overpowering and off-putting and the forbidden rice was inedible. My friend's pork chop was way overcooked and dry. The service was a big detractor. Our waitress barely engaged with our table of four. She arrived with our main course and noticed all the appetizer plates hadn't been cleared and set our hot dinners on a tray stand while she removed empty plates. Awkward! She never checked on our dinners, and when we were almost finished, she returned to ask if we wanted more wine or another cocktail. Too late! It's unfortunate as some of the food was really good, but at $100/person (with tip), I'd expect better.
