We had dinner there on Valentines Day. The staff and owner were very accommodating. We ran into some old friends and the server arranged for us to sit together. The food is excellent with a great choice of a variety of Lowcountry dishes. Holy foodgasm batman. Pretty unassuming place just over the bridge in bluffton. Kind of empty little business/strip mall thing. I think they are new but my tummy tells me that they'll be packed. Started with drinks. A dogfish 90 min IPA on draft for the hubs and spring "thyme" fizz cocktail for me. A sweet but herby kind of drink with citron and blueberry lemon soda and thyme. Very tasty. An app of marinated feta, olive tapenade, roasted corn and pita. Light, fresh. Warm pita. It didn't fill you up which is good. Just enough to whet the appetite. Hubby got the special of filet, Gorgonzola mashed potatoes, corn, brown butter Brussel sprouts and a Demi glacé. Holy cow. Hubby cleared the plate. And I had to restrain myself. The mashed potatoes were amazing. I got the all American burger with truffled fries. Om nom nom. Delicious party with pimento cheese oozing over it. And I'm not a huge pimento cheese fan but it was perfection. I couldn't eat the whole thing because I wanted dessert and to walk out under my own power and not be rolled out. And the fries!!! Truffled with pecorino. Yes. Yes. Yes. And finally....dessert. It was hard to decide. Hubs got the bourbon pecan pie. A single serve portion in a little cast iron skillet. Just the right amount of bourbon and right consistency. And vanilla ice cream. I got the Carolina peach cobbler. Sweet fancy Moses. Almost better than what I make. A cakey cobbler as opposed to rolled crust-which is the right way to do peach cobbler. And butter pecan ice cream. I ate it all. The bottom line? So with crossing the bridge from HHI. This place is going on the list of "must eat places" for our annual vacation to HHI. read more

My husband, friends and I were from out of town and saw many positive reviews for the place. The menu attracted us to this establishment but when we arrived we noticed our menus missing several of the tasty seafood dishes were not there. A little bit of a bummer. The food we did order was good, but not life changing. They said the salmon was good at medium but it was a little dry. Our server Devon was friendly however VERY loud. You could hear her talking with us from across the room. Each time she came to our table we were a bit embarrassed. When she brought out checks she all but yelled our names out. If we are able to come back I hope the menu that is posted on the website is the same. Really wanted some of that she-crab soup. read more

My personal favorite place to eat. Food is spectacular and the service is always great. The best steak in the area. My wife loves the salmon and kids love the Mac and cheese. This was my second time dining here, and it was as good or better than last time. We had made a reservation to be safe since it's on the smaller side. We were seated immediately and spent a few minutes going over the menu. There were several dinner specials, one of which was had by someone in my group. While there was a slight delay getting our drink order taken, overall we had pleasant service. They even give you complimentary bread with a delicious dipping oil, something that's missing from a lot of other places. Two of us had the salmon entree, which was absolutely delicious. Every bite with the flavorful side dishes was a culinary delight. Their portions are normally generous, and none of us had room for dessert. As we were leaving, the co-owner engaged us in a pleasant conversation about the local, stray kitties that they help to support. We will definitely be back! read more

First time here. Food was fair. Certainly a different take on bruschetta. Bartender was hardly at the bar. Service was slow and entree took way to much time to be delivered. Always ask the price of the nightly "specials" had the redfish and while decent food was expensive at $45. Overall the staff were friendly but seemed as though everyone was running around and there were multiple drink makers, like the servers had to make their own drinks along with serving. Wow, just 100 yards on the mainland from HHI, what a gem. Karen the waitress was very attentive, and let us know that they were short-staffed in the kitchen, boy did they deliver. After a long day of driving to North Charleston, 2 hrs and then back south to Hilton Head, we wanted something to our Hotel. This restaurant popped in our Yelp search for locations and recommendations. Taking a side street from our hotel it was less than .2 miles from our hotel. As we were pulling in, we spotted a chalkboard sign at the edge of the lot featuring Soft Shell Crabs (one of my wife's favorites)! We spotted 2 recently vacated seats at the bar and settled in. A warm friendly greeting and delivery of menus from Devan, the bar tender/ hostess/server as they were quite busy. We both were in the mood for something light so decided to share the Charcuterie and Cheese Board. 4 meats and 4 cheeses, capers, tomatoes, diced mango, pears, red pepper, green olives and pickled red onion, spread in very generous portions over the board with crusty crostinis. Condiments accompanying the board were: Mango Chutney, grainy mustard, humus and olive tapenade. Paired with a Chilled glass of Fume Blanc, this was a great choice! This is a tough one for me. Two coworkers and I came here for dinner one night, excited at the prospect of a a nice dinner. We got there at 6 and didn't leave until 8. Normally a two hour dinner is a six course affair. This was just a salad and a bottle of wine for three people. Service was just not where it needs to be. After being seated and ordering drinks, it took close to 20 minutes for our server to even come back to the table to see if we were ready to order. Of course we were because we had been there for 20 minutes. Food took a little while to arrive and the place wasn't that busy when we ordered. It certainly got busy later but there were maybe 8-10 other people there? I got the Caribbean chicken salad and it was really good. It was a large portion and everything tasted great. The focaccia bread they brought as a snack was also really well done. After eating and requesting the check, we had to wait at least another 20 minutes to actually get the check. I'm sorry but a salad and two glasses of wine does not require two hours of my time. Service was 1 star as far as speed and efficiency but the food was really good. I would go back hoping for a different server because the food was good, but I'm not trying to spend two hours on a salad. read more

We were shocked by the "split plate charges" of $6 x 2 for providing 2 extra empty plates. The menu stated the split plate charge which we took as the kitchen splitting the order into 2 portions. We felt the charges were not justified. On raising the issue to our server, she said it was the policy and it was out of her control. There is also an automatic 20% gratuity charge for parties of 6 or more. We had 9 people but the restaurant seated us in 2 separate tables, one table with 5 people and another table with 4. We requested separate bills. Each bill is for fewer than 6 people but the 20% gratuities were added to each bill. We paid as billed but again, we felt the gratuities were charged unfairly. read more

We met Karen one night and found out she works at Hogsheads kitchen and wine bar so we decided to try it, OMG the food was amazing and more than that everyone was so nice. Met the amazing chef and Alexis is so friendly, since I have owned and operated several of our own restaurants I appreciate great food and service, it was our best meal in Hilton head Island! Ok let's get the bad stuff out of the way first. It did not smell good when we entered. Not kidding when I say it had an aroma of a soiled nappy. Certain cabbage preps could emit this same scent but no matter, NOT a good hello. For a Friday afternoon lunch period, this place was basically a ghost town. Two other tables were occupied when we arrived and their guests spoke in a whisper. Not really an atmosphere that begged for diners to linger. I would think if the restaurant was filled with guests, the ambiance would have been transformed. HogsHead had a nice eclectic menu. We started with a small order of Oysters Rockefeller, a very nice execution, with plenty of acid from the lemon and a nice crunch from the collards that were used in lieu of traditional spinach. It was a nice way to activate the palate and enjoy slurping up some nice buttery juice from the oysters. I went with the flounder special, my partner the ahi tuna sandwich. It was clear from the get go that this restaurant uses quality ingredients. The fish was so fresh and good. The only negative was a tad bit of greasiness. Using and executing tempura batter is not an easy task. They almost had it right. The giant house cut fries came in a ceramic mini crockpot, a perfect vehicle to keep the spuds hot. Some of the larger cuts, however, needed some more time in the fryer. But since the serving size was so big, it was easy to find smaller, crunchier pieces. My partner's ahi tuna steak was a beauty. The brioche bun, wasabi pesto, pineapple, prosciutto, and onion jam really created a mouthful of happiness. The rare tuna was expertly kissed with some fire, and all the accouterments just added the perfect compliment to the sandwich. Some hiccups, but we loved the food, and would definitely come back to try some other menu items. read more

A jewel of a find near Tanger Outlet Mall. Great upscale feel with all wooden furniture. Food seems to be prepared by a chef rather than a cook. We had appetizer of fresh dries chips with goat cheese and bacon. Grilled Tuna Steak sandwich, Reuben Sandwich and Vegetable & Mozzarella Sandwich. What a meal. Only the man that had the vegetable sandwich finished his meal. Each if us has a deserts that were made from scratch and delicious. I highly recommend this place. We has lunch but I would definitely call ahead if I was heading there for dinner to ensure that a table is available. read more

In spite of a heavy Sat nite downpour - Hogshead welcomed me as a late arrival. Special was grilled red fish over risotto and spinach w/ a delightful clementine/tomato topping. We went for dinner this evening and had high hopes given the good reviews. The food was ok, not amazing. The service was literally the worst I've ever experienced. Our plates were cleared for 15 min before the server even came to check on us and had the nerve to ask "how is everything." All we had on the table we're empty water glasses. It took another 10 min to get the bill and finally leave the restaurant. The server also didn't even come over to bring the bill, she had the hostess come and apologize to us. If your waitstaff can't handle the amount of tables in the restaurant, don't seat them. read more

Very disappointing. I ordered the ribs that are labeled Sticky whiskey my wife ordered the goat cheese salad. They are so overpriced for the quality of the food. I was told the ribs are made to order and they will take 20min. They came out so overcooked so I doubt they cooked the ribs on the fly. There is no way you can overcook ribs like that in less than 20min(the meal came out in 15min). Honestly, we should have left after we got the brie small plate order. It comes with a half of a pear that is "grilled." They took a butane torch to char the top of the pear, it tasted like butane gas. The brie was just a standard wedge of brie, that is what we expected. It does not come with pita or anything else to spread the cheese on. We were told they give bread to the table so we can use that. They brought the bread out and we were given 5 pieces of bread that are about the size of a large crouton. If you are in town, I suggest you go somewhere else. I'm not confident the reviews they have are real. This is a restaurant for the locals that are most likely over 55 years old that associate GREAT FOOD with a high price. Our bill was $107 for 2 people. 1 $10 glass of wine and 2 $7.50 glasses of wine with 1 small plate and 2 entrees, don't forget, 1 was a salad! We should have walked out after the Brie. read more

Was looking for a place near the outlet malls to have a late dinner and were second guessing our choice as we pulled into the strip mall but....WE WERE BLOWN AWAY! Atmosphere was awesome. Our server, Chris, was so welcoming and helpful. Food was prompt. Wine and cocktails were perfect! As a foursome, we had fried chicken and waffles, shrimp and grits, pork chips with mac n cheese, and the local red fish. All were incredibly flavorful as we passed them around for tastings. We started with the pulled pork egg rolls and were treated to the truffle mushroom and grits-both delicious. Can't wait to eat our homemade chocolates that we brought home for dessert but our bellies are busting at the moment. Would highly recommend for others looking in this price range. This fun restaurant is tucked back in the Moss Creek area of Bluffton, SC, but once you find it, you'll want to come back. The food and coctail menus are excellent and unique and the decor has a lot of reclaimed elements that make it charming. The owners are always there to greet you and check on you during your visit which shows their passion for the restaurant.
