I hate to do it, but we really should have looked at reviews before walking in. It was on the way back to where we parked, so we made the impromptu decision to stop in. Someone once told me that boba is boba, and all is good. This wasn't the case here, unfortunately. For the first time in my life, I couldn't finish the drinks ordered. There were multiple drinks ordered, and they weren't great. Additionally, they messed them up, putting in additions to wrong drinks. I had an amazing experience here at Hok Tea in Chinatown, SF. They have self-ordering kiosks near the entrance of the shop. Every menu item has its own picture with a description of the beverage. I ordered the Mango Coconut Milk and my friend ordered a Brown Sugar milk tea. Both drinks were extremely delicious with strong flavors and delicious boba. While we waited for our drinks the shop had some cool photo spots to take pictures. I loved this shop and would love to come back and try more menu items. read more

Hok Tea is seemingly a new boba spot in Chinatown and a great addition to the neighborhood collection. I tried the Mango Coconut Milk and the Yakult Qing Tea. Both were good, but the Mango Coconut Milk was definitely my favorite. It was refreshing, fruity, and creamy at the same time without being overly sweet. The Yakult Qing Tea was light but I felt less enjoyable. The shop itself is small but cute, cozy and welcoming vibe. There was only one staff member making drinks when I visited, but service was still quick and efficient. Overall, I had a pleasant experience and would happily come back to try more drinks. read more

Tea wars. That's probably the best description for the Chinatown business climate. In recent years, a new shop seems to be opening on a regular basis on random streets throughout Chinatown. Yes, I have my favorites for particular drinks. I saw the sign go up and the store opened about a month later. On my walks to the bank and various rotation lunches, I anticipated seeing whether there was something different to quench my thirst. After a glance at their menu, I tried their passion fruit pineapple fruit tea, large, regular ice 30% sweetness (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=Ou1ueWbSF34cE6tkM1wYaA). I enjoyed the flavors as the pineapple and passion fruit seeds were prominent. The tea was sweeter than 30%, closer to 50% in my book. I drank a third and brought it home to add ice and tame the sugar. I also wish that the sliced and cut the fruits more uniformly to make them easier to eat. I ordered at the iPad kiosk so there was no interaction with the staff. The store is clean and spacy though no seating for drink-ins and conversations. With all the bubble tea choices in Chinatown I'd say you can't go wrong with this one. The sugar is what I expected from choosing "30% sugar" and isn't artificially sweetened like some other shops. The tea is flavorful and has the actual bitter notes. (I ordered "Qing Tea) the downside is the creamer or dairy they use which does taste like powder and leaves a weird feeling in your mouth. Wait isn't long and the menu has the typical milk tea choices along with mango sago and matcha specialities. read more

When one was heading into Chinatown time and time again, there were many bubble tea shops, from Yi Fang to By Me Boba. Hok Tea was the newest addition in Jackson St. Just one of these days to replace another old business in order to start out fresh, just like the flower that withers and the young leaf springs up to take its place. The interior decor was similarly stunning with mythical creatures since ancient cultural times. For my first visit, I chose the Qing Tea with less sweet yakult flavor, no green tea matcha nor fruit tea. Another new type of tea flavor to broaden my palate. Not one of my favorite places to have ice cold sweet drinks, but just another Asian soul driven business that'll get more youthful folks to think sweet about Hok Tea. read more

I ordered the brown sugar milk tea today and it tasted like water. Not sweet at all. Don't come here for boba. Look elsewhere.

It's been a while since I visited Chinatown SF... everything seems pretty much the same as the last decade. Came here Hok Tea walking pass and smell the aroma of ginger . Of course, I order from from the ginger tea section...however to my surprise the drink was just a milk tea instead of being call a ginger milk tea with green tea. I gently let the person who made my tea know that there was no ginger taste at all. To my surprise, he said because of the milk and green tea. Then my daughter tried her Mango Pomelo Sago... the blended frozen mango. Both drinks was the worse drink and service I had for a while since going to many many tea places. This store was brand new to me in Chinatown. After work I decided to check this place out. I got their mango sago drink. The drink was pretty nice. Only took 10 minute to get my drink. I enjoy the mango flavor of the mango sago drink. However I would say the sago was too frozen. read more

Delicious boba balls + we asked for crystal boba and upon request they gave us black balls and clear crystal balls. For kids they did whole milk no tea or caffeine. Great place! read more
