    Spicy Pork Bulgogi

I got to check out Hokibar for a Yelp Elite event. Hokibar took place of the Zoe's Kitchen next to Jack Stack. Right when we walked the staff was very welcoming and friendly. There are kiosk that you can start your order or go up and order. It reminds me of Chipotle style ordering. Where you select your base - meat - veggies/ build your own or do a signature bowl. I went ahead and got a signature bowl for the Spicy Pork Bulgogi. Oh man, best decision ever!!! The meat was so flavorful. I also got the spam musubi. Overall, an excellent experience and I high recommend! I will definitely be back whenever I am in the area.

You ever have lunch somewhere and by dinner time you are ready to go back? we ate here and I couldn't stop thinking about the rest of the day. It's so fresh and filling. I've had poke so I knew what I was getting myself into. If you are uncertain of what you want just order the KC bowl. it gives you a ton of variety in one bowl. The staff is friendly and the place is very clean. I will definitely be back here (and I live 30 minutes away).

I've wanted to try Hokibar for a while and finally got the opportunity to try it. It did not disappoint. The staff was so friendly and guided us through every step. The establishment was clean and had plenty of seating. Now onto the food; I could eat the entire pot of hoki rice. I'm hungry just thinking about it. It had a slight coconut flavor. They had plenty of options to choose from, so everyone will be happy. I'm already looking forward to going again.

Alright KC, not to be dramatic, because that would be totally out of character for me , but our Saturday night takeout (and Sunday leftovers ) from Hokibar was one of the best meals I've had in a very long time. Hokibar Poké & Sushi BBQ merges Japanese dishes with American-style and Hawaiian-style poké, resulting in a fast-casual dining experience with a modern twist. The menu is made up of their Signature Bowls (5000/10 recommend their namesake Hoki Bowl), a BYOBowl option, a variety of Sushi and Maki Rolls (LOVED the Country Club Roll), Entrees, and Sides. Everything is made fresh daily, using premium, top notch ingredients, leading to a healthy, delicious meal, that's affordable and convenient. Do yourself a favor and let Hokibar take care of lunch or dinner one day this week. And I might see you there, because I honestly can't stop thinking about it...

I LOVE HOKIBAR! This is my new go-to patio sittin' place when I need fresh, healthy, delicious food in a bright sunny setting! The options are incredible and I especially love the miso soup dispenser! The touch menu ordering is a little hard to understand, but thankfully all the pre-made special bowls are delicious and you can't go wrong choosing any of them. I'm so glad this place exists!!!

In full transparency, I received 1 Signature Bowl and a drink for free during a Yelp event. Please take that into consideration for this review. I gave the Signature Hoki Bowl to my SO, and I purchased a Build Your Own Bowl. We felt that the food was tasty, but slightly overpriced. As with all poke places, there was much more rice in comparison to the toppings-- I find that to be a slight pet peeve of mine at most poke places. Parking was not difficult despite its location. You can park in a nearby free parking garage or find street parking by Jack's Stack.

The staff were very friendly and helpful and the food was absolutely delicious. I got the Kansas City Bowl and he got a Country Club roll. We also shared some fried tofu. The sauces were unique and delicious. All of the ingredients tasted fresh. And full disclosure I've never had poke before but I am a fan now! We were a little disappointed when we were served our food in plastic to go style dishes. No nice reusable plate or silverware. I would think if we were paying that much for sushi and poke that we would have nicer dish-ware. This is built much more for to go style meals. Would still recommend

Food: I was pleasantly surprised that this poke bowl place also serves Hawaiian platters! The food is so fresh and flavorful!! I ordered the KC Bowl and was immediately satisfied. The portion is huge and can literally be split into two meals. If you like raw meat this bowl is for you. They said it was spicy but I didn't feel like it was. My friend ordered the galbi Hawaiian platter and it was sooo good!! Will be back to try other dishes. Service: Excellent, kind and cheerful staff. I felt welcomed and they were really helpful in kind when explaining their menu. Parking: The location is a little weird. You'll have to use the pathway to the right of Jack Stack to get to Hoki. You can park on the street or surrounding parking decks.

Hokibar in the Plaza area of Kansas City is a fantastic spot to enjoy fresh seafood and ingredients all packed into a bowl or entree! Build your own bowl with items ranging from rice, lettuce seaweed, mangoes, chickpeas, tuna, edamame, salmon, yellowtail, onions, octopus, chicken, scallops, shrimp, and more! Not feeling like making a bowl? You can also order a signature meat entree like the Beef Bulgogi entree I ordered! This spot also serves a long list of fresh sushi rolls stacked up with ingredients. Have you ever used a miso soup dispenser? Try out the Miso Soup dispenser at Hokibar and enjoy some hot soup!

I was excited that a new Poke place opened in town and decided to give it try and I'm so glad I did! There is a large selection of bases, protein, sauces and toppings. I opted for the 2 protein bowl and loaded up on the toppings. The ingredients were really fresh and tasty. The portion was very generous as well. I ordered online and it was prepared in a timely manner. Service was fast and friendly. Inside and outside both had a chill vibe. I would definitely recommend giving them a try!

I don't know where to start. After I had a hard time finding the location the manager went out of her way to come and meet me. Everyone was pleasant and nice in this restaurant. I ordered a lychee ramune with my meal and I forgot it, the server brought it to me in the parking lot again lol. Lobster roll and my hoki bowl were delicious.

I don't have sushi or poke bowls often, but this place is convenient when I'm running errands near the Plaza. I've been here twice now and everything has been fresh with big portions! The staff is friendly, too, and the food is reasonably priced for the Plaza, which is known to be expensive. It's a clean restaurant with plenty of seating. Neither of the times that I've been here have been busy-- I get the sense that most people take their orders to-go. I ordered the Kansas City Bowl in a size regular (tuna, edamame, crab meat, hoki rice, mango salsa, cucumbers, ginger, wasabi). The variety of flavors complement each other, and the only thing I didn't finish was the ginger, since they gave me a lot this time.

    Molly M.

Good size portions, everything tasted fresh, and I liked the different options of toppings for the price. I went minimal for a healthier bowl this time, but really loaded it up with crab, more sauces, and wonton chips previously, both delicious. Will come back and try more of their variety of dishes.

This is arguably the most legendary barbecue restaurant in Kansas City. What's it like to wait in…read moreline for almost half an hour on a Wednesday afternoon at 3 pm? Burnt Ends: The best dish of the day, truly a representative of Kansas City barbecue. The perfect balance of fat and lean meat--the fat was tender and oily, the lean was soft and juicy--a truly soul-satisfying experience. Unfortunately, it was a little too salty. Dipping it in the sweet, sour, and slightly spicy Night of the Living Bar-B-Q Sauce neutralized the saltiness and added a touch of stimulation to the taste buds, elevating it to another level. Ribs: Once selected as one of the "America's Best" ribs. The picture shows only half slab, which feels a bit small . The fat melted into the muscle fibers, making the meat firm on the surface but actually tender; it fell off the bone with a gentle touch. The seasoning was very restrained, with only a subtle smoky flavor, highlighting the natural aroma of the meat. It's great with a simple dip of salt and black pepper, but even better with a little lemon juice! Pulled Pork: Tender and juicy, not dry at all, with a rich smoky flavor--the best pulled pork I've ever had. Sausage: Firm and springy, crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, with a rich smoky flavor, a warm aroma of black pepper, and a distinct sweetness. The Z-Man: A legendary sandwich created in 1997. The smoked brisket and Provolone cheese create a robust aroma, while the onion rings add a crispy texture. However, the Joe's Kansas City Bar-B-Que Sauce was too strong and sweet, largely masking the natural flavors of the ingredients. In some ways, it's better enjoyed separately. Creamy Cole Slaw: Standard flavor profile, with just little toppings, quite refreshing. BBQ Beans: A surprisingly delightful side dish! Various beans were stewed with grilled beef brisket and shredded pork. The meat melted in the sauce, resulting in a rich and mellow flavor; the beans were incredibly soft, served hot with a hint of spiciness--a truly comforting meal. Potato Salad: The salad dressing was too creamy and sweet. Slide of Texas Toast: The toast itself was quite ordinary, but soaked in the grilled meat juices, it became completely different! All the meats are pre-grilled, and the staff cuts them according to the order. I imagine it would be even better if they were freshly grilled, but given the price and the self-service nature with no tipping required, it's incredibly affordbale in the US.
