We stopped here after a flight into Redmond since it's only a few minutes away from the airport. It was past the kids' dinner time and we were in a hurry, and this was the perfect place. It's a sit down restaurant but the food comes out quickly! We had looked at the menu ahead of time and placed our order right when we were seated, so it wasn't long before the food came out. The food itself was good but not amazing. They did provide a small bowl of hot salsa to spice things up but the enchilada itself was not spicy. The tacos were good, and my daughter liked her quesadilla too. The service was great! The server was so understanding of us having two young kids and needing to eat fast. At one point we knocked a water over and she patiently brought us a new one, plus some extra spoons and bowls for the kids to share food. That's the main reason I'm giving it 5 stars. When Central Oregon folks list their favorite 'Mexican' restaurants, Xalisco always appears at or near the top. Redmond residents often say Xalisco is the best restaurant of any kind. I've had it in my bookmarks to try for some time now. Our first attempt not long after they opened was abandoned after seeing the line at the door. This visit was successful as there were few patrons inside (and, of course, no line). Ambiance is low-key with cafeteria-style tables and chairs. No loud music, which is one thing that will cause me to turn around at the door. There's a very small bar near the door but not one I'd sit at. - Carne asada alambres: Large portion of nicely prepared steak strips. Underlying sautéed vegetables were ok, maybe too much bacon. - Corn tortillas: housemade and delicious. - Halibut tacos: solid example of fish tacos. - Cadillac margarita: fairly weak, little flavor. - House margarita: I liked this one better than the Cadillac. Service was at the same time efficient and weird.Two different servers took our drink orders/refills and both times my wife's order was taken but I was ignored. Just walked away without asking if I wanted anything. Weird. Good service otherwise. All in all, a fine restaurant. I probably wouldn't rate it as high as some but then maybe the real experience lies in the more unusual dishes, such as octopus. It's also fairly expensive, even by today's standards. We went to grab a light snack before dinner. Because we didn't have any lunch, we were too busy sightseeing. We ordered 3 Carne Asada meat street taco and 3 Seafood street taco which we all shared. The seafood street taco was fish with a huge slice of avocado on top which was okay but the avocado dominated the whole taco and taste. The Carne Asada street taco was a good more flavor and meat was okay added the tomatillo sauce and some of the salsa sauce to give it a kick. For the complementary salsa they gave a street tortilla wrap which was kind of doughy flavor would have preferred chips instead of a flour tortilla. Wow! This was a low key huge win to find on the same exit as the airport. Lauren, Kylie, Jacki, Yannick, and I popped in here at 2 before a 3:50 flight. We loved the veggie dishes and the carnitas. It's a no frills location but service was still great. Pro tip - get the habanero sauce and jalapeños added to any meal. As a mostly LA based crew, you can only imagine we often require many modifications but the team at Xalisco made it easy for us to grab a quick bite and arrive to the airport right on time for a quick security check experience and right on to our plane. Went here before catching a flight out of RDM. Quickly greeted upon entering, and sat at the small bar. Promptly served a full glass of ice water and handed menus. Everyone was extremely friendly and inviting. Ordered the empanada trio appetizer to try out a little variety. While briefly waiting on my food, they served up some warm tortillas with delicious dipping salsa. Let me tell you... everything was delicious and flavorful. Their sauces and salsas are perfectly blended and have just the right amount of kick. Looking at everyone else's dishes coming out, I wished I was more hungry. My first visit involved splitting several dishes amongst our party. Everything was delicious, from the Carnitas to the Carne Asada, rice and beans, and salsas. I was excited on this trip to try the Torta Ahogada. I've been wanting to try one for a while and the only place in Bend that had one (that I know of) took it off the menu. I opted for the spicy version and was glad I did. The tomato sauce that makes up the majority of the sauce on the plate is relatively mild. Adding the spicy salsa definitely added something interesting, although the sauce was still not very complex, just kind of a spicy tomato sauce. I was surprised how much the sauce and bread takes center stage, with the carnitas and beans just kind of existing in the background. My biggest complaint was that we were not served any of the hand-pressed green tortillas with salsa this time! I should have asked but before I even thought to ask, our dishes came out. I'm glad I tried the sandwich, but think I'll stick to the tacos and meat plates next time. read more

Recommended by our Uber driver when we asked for some good Mexican restaurants. Coming from California, we know good Mexican food. This was one of two so said to try and we were not disappointed. For less than $40, including tip, we had a two item combo (beef enchilada and pork tostada) which was good but the star of the meal was the Spinach Enchiladas. It was delish. The tomatillo green sauce was amazing. The white rice looked plain at first but had a great, subtle flavor. The black beans were really good. They have tons of different adult drinks which sounded amazing but since it was only 1130am we decided to go with water. Soon after we arrived, the lunch crowd started to come in but the service remained attentive and friendly. Overall the ambiance was very comfortable and we would highly recommend. read more

It was really busy when we went, the staff still remained patient and helpful. The wait for food was kinda long, but I can overlook that since it was obviously a packed night for them. The drinks were good and their menu is quite big for it to be such a small place. The food however was missing a little something. I'd give the meals a good 3.5/5, they weren't nasty but I don't want them again. Maybe it could have used a bit more seasoning. I would go again and maybe try some different plates to see if there are better tasting options. read more

Always great to have good friends take you out and turn you on to some outrageously tasty latin food. Walking in, this is a regular spot for our friends as they were recognized and warmly welcomed. The restaurant decor is simple and unpretentious. We were sat down and our server quickly brought over homemade green tortillas with salsa. First taste was a thumbs up! The restaurant is owned by the Medina family and they own two restaurants in the area. All of the family made us feel so welcome. Our friends let us decide what to order but they went ahead and ordered the shrimp ceviche for an appetizer. So sorry I forgot to take a picture but this was easily the best shrimp ceviche I have ever enjoyed. Flavor was on point and the shrimp so fresh. Our server was so helpful and guided us on our selections. My husband selected a house specialty - the Torto Ahogado. This is a traditional plate from Guadalajara which includes sourdough bread stuffed with refried beans and your choice of carnitas or pork belly drenched in a delicious special salsa made of dried chiles and tomato with red onion and lime. A little on the spicy side! I went with the Tacos De Chicharron de Pescado - Fried Halibut tacos with pico de Gallo, avocado, lemon and chipotle aioli. WOWSA! This food was absolutely outstanding in every way. Juicy and flavorful was the fish and delicate to bite. We could not believe how incredible our dinner was coming from this little tiny town in Oregon. My husband was blown away and he really could not get enough of his dish. Talk about authentic! Our experience here was well above five stars including the food and service. I still think about our meal here and long to return in the future. **NOTE: In October 2023, this restaurant was voted the top sixth taco spot in the US on Yelps Top 100. Yes! My husband and I decided to stop at Xalisco Latin Cuisine. We just wanted to stop somewhere that had some really great food. We scheduled a stop from Goldendale to Grants Pass. We arrived around 4:30PM, the place only had bar seating and on 6 top. So we chose to sit at the bar. It must be good if your restaurant is packed at 4:30 in the evening. We checked out the menu, so many wonderful things to try. It was difficult to decide, but I ordered the Burrito Percherone, no tortilla. My husband ordered Three Halibut Tacos. I also ordered a Citrus Margarita. It wasn't long and the meal arrived. It was presented perfectly! Beautiful meals that looked like they were intentionally prepared to present the best meal ever served anywhere! We dove in! What a delicious treat, my tortilla-less burrito was amazing, the flavors were over the top! Best Latin restaurant ever! I love Latino flavors and this one did not disappoint. My husband's Tacos were picture perfect as well, Excellent fish tacos, homemade tortillas, the best experience I have had in a very long time. Oh, the Citrus Margarita was the bomb! I was staying at a hotel nearby and walked to this absolute gem of a restaurant! First the service was amazing, super friendly, family owned style restaurant. The food was incredible, I got the shrimp and it couldn't have been more perfect. The white rice was super fresh, and was actually full of flavor... yes the rice. The salad couldn't have been any fresher, with an amazing balsamic like dressing, extremely refreshing. I got a tequila drink, and it was also presented amazing, and tasted even better than it looks. It was honestly hard to choose what to drink and eat, such a great menu! I can't recommend this place highly enough, and I'm for sure coming back tomorrow. 100/10 read more

Simple, clean 10-12 table restaurant with great food right off 97 on the road to Redmond airport. I ended up here because the flight I was picking up friends from got diverted due to fog. I decided to grab a bite and wait it out for a bit here and was very glad I did. They have reasonably good hours as well as a lot of places in Redmond seem to close at 8pm and they closed this weekday night day at 9pm. I'll be back. read more

The food was so flavorful!! Let's start with the homemade corn tortillas. They bring a few out with some salsa to start. We ordered a Paloma and a Cadillac Margarita that were both tasty. We ordered the Grilled Pulpo (octopus) with garlic and olive oil. This was so tender you could cut it with your fork! Delicioso'! Hubby ordered the chicharones which was all him. I don't like fried pork skins. Hubbs ordered the Seafood stuffed Chile Relleno in a chipotle cream sauce. He says it was very tasty. It only came with one so it's a good thing we had appetizers. It comes with black beans and white rice. A bit in the bland side. I ordered the Carne Asada Alambres which was literally fork tender and came with homemade corn tortillas or flour which are not homemade. I went with the homemade delicious corn tortillas. Also served with a side of refried beans, Spanish rice, guacamole and sour cream. Definitely a great find while camping out in the area. read more
