Had a great meal at Rancho Viejo while in Sisters for a getaway. To be honest, it wasn't our first choice based on reviews but we couldn't get a table at one place and never got served at another. Walked in and asked if we could eat in the bar area. We were greeted warmly, seated immediately. Chips and salsa and water arrived right away. Nice tequila selection and full bar. Hubs had the crispy shredded beef tacos and said they were some of the best he's ever had. I enjoyed my enchiladas. Portions are large and we actually had enough for dinner the next night. It's a bummer to finally pull the trigger on this review. My family has been coming to this restaurant for years, and our first experience was very good. Unfortunately, things have gone downhill since then. We've been turned away twice over the years, both times 15-20 minutes before closing. Today, we made a point to arrive early enough to actually sit down and eat, but unfortunately the experience still fell short. Our server didn't check back until about 20 minutes into the meal. We never received the corn tortillas we requested, and the Tajín for the margaritas was missed twice. By the time anyone checked on us, we were nearly finished. The pollo a la crema was watery, lacked flavor, wasn't creamy, and had an odd reddish color. The beans and rice were also very bland. For the quality of the food and service, the pricing felt unreasonable. The overall experience felt rushed, almost like a "turn and burn." The server seemed more focused on getting the check to us than making sure our order was right or that we were enjoying our meal. It honestly left us feeling like they didn't care whether we came back. To top it off, the booth seats were so worn that we were essentially sitting on the wood framing. This place was a sweet place right in the heart of sisters! I appreciate that it was open on a Sunday evening, because not much is at this time of day. Honestly, my party's experience was just average - I wish it was better!! The food wasn't all too great and the service was a bit slow (we ran out of water a couple of times and had to flag down servers to help us). Despite 4/5 of us ordering meals and splitting the food to share, not a single meal was finished because the taste was only so-so. I would say it's a good place for convenience, not a good place for a wonderful experience or menu, if that makes sense! On the plus side, they did accommodate me and my professionally trained service dog, which I appreciate! They were confused at first why I was requesting a specific table type to accommodate my disability & dog, but once I was able to converse with the hostess more, they were willing to free up a table for us. Horrible customer service, my boyfriend left his phone by accident at our table, and when we realized and called they swore up and down they didn't have it, so we called again the next morning and they still said they didn't have it, well later that day after we had went through his service provider and tracked it to the restaurant, they then called right after location services were turned on and said they found it, We drove all the way back and they locked it in the safe and "couldn't get it out" because they put the wrong code in too many times. After waiting, we were finally able to get his phone back, but the situation was handled horribly by staff and we will not be going back. read more

Overpriced, understaffed and overpriced. Food was good not great. Portions were small (especially for the price). First serving of chips and salsa included, additional at $3.50......that's just b.s. Ordered a strawberry margarita, wasn't offered blended or on the rocks. Was served on the rocks, just t a real margarita in my opinion. Outdoor patio is nice but was staffed by one person who simply could not keep up. The dog friendly atmosphere is nice and comfortable. Overall not terrible but not worth a trip back. This is my second time visiting Rancho Viejo. It was a very hot, smokey afternoon so we were looking for someplace with AC. I also knew from previous experience that their food is really good and served in Very generous portions. The tequila selection. Is good as well and their classic margarita hit the spot on that hot afternoon. Everyone enjoyed something different to eat, (I had the chicken tacos listed as an appetizer, not appetizer size for sure!, and delicious.) I plan on going back next time I pass through! The staff is friendly, and the young man in particular seemed to take his job very seriously, or perhaps he would have rather been riding his bike with friends instead - I think he was probably family. Positively delicious. They have the best tortilla soup that I've ever had that I can remember, and I used to live in Mexico for one year. This is what we call elevated Mexican food. Bright, fresh, authentic, SUCCULENT. The ceviche was also excellent and they have a wide selection of delicious margaritas that are made with fresh juice - delicious and they do not skimp on the tequila. It appeared that every single table was ordering margaritas. From somebody whose corazón is Mexicano, believe me this place is excellent. Passing through sisters and swung into here, reviews looked good. Waiter sat us in the bar section and served us the water with cheap foggy plastic cups and a pitcher of water to fill it ourselves. The next waiter came out to ask what we wanted to order and asked if we were 21 and if not we need to leave this section since it's 21+...we didn't ask to sit here lol she led us here, told him he could check out IDs if he wanted Food is VERY overpriced, rice and beans had no flavor and enchiladas verde were very mid my husband said. They charge 4.50$ for any additional chips and salsa LOL should've taken that as a a red flag. Enchiladas were 19$. Craving Mexican and there aren't exactly major options in town. We dropped in on a Saturday night for dinner around 5. We walked in behind another couple, and although they weren't too busy we all just stood there without even a greeting until my husband finally approached a server to see if they had plans to seat us. After that we were seated fairly quickly, provided with menus and chips & salsa...but again, forgotten for a few minutes until I was able to get another servers attention. They've got a pretty decent menu from which to choose, and we ended up with enchiladas and a taco salad, as well as a house margarita for the hubby. The food came fast and very hot. The food was good and portions fair. The restaurant itself feels a bit sticky...assuming it's in need of a really good deep cleaning, especially considering the flies inside. We were batting at them the whole time. We certainly didn't leave hungry...honestly everything tasted good - nice hot salsa, crispy chips, and a pretty good margarita. Once we were finally helped and seated our service was friendly. Would I return? I'm not sure. Improvements needed in a few areas. read more

This is a small restaurant that seems to be busy very often. They were able to seat us right away. Our waitress brought out water for all of us to drink. We ordered chicken fajitas. They were made fresh and without a sauce. In my opinion they were really good and had a natural flavor to them. The prices were reasonable and comparable to similar restaurants and dishes. Let's start with the chips. Crispy and light and even warm!!!! Perfect. We sat in the bar area where there was a sign for no minors allowed. Perfect again! Margaritas were good as was the spicy salsa. Very nice. Got a small queso that was very good. The wife had tacos al carbon which were okay but they put a sauce on the tortilla so hard to eat - mushy. chicken taquitos also had a sauce poured on them that made them mushy but tasty. Nachos were ALL THAT - seriously sabrosos! Honestly, I haven't been really into Mexican food in Oregon, because I feel like I can make it better at home, but this place was SPECIAL. They pre make their margaritas and you get mostly ice with it, but hey let's charge $13.50 for a tiny portion. The prices they charge for food are outrageous as well. Not worth it. What a hidden GEM! We stopped by on our way into Bend from Portland and we came just in time for Happy Hour. I would declare this place the most bang for your buck HH! We got the most delicious margaritas for $5 and all the entries for less than $8!! They were delicious! Plus we sat in the back patio and the vibe was so welcoming. The partner had a craving for a smothered burrito so we thought we'd try this place out. I was nervous at first because their complimentary chips were stale. But the salsa was good and we were hungry. I would have gotten the ceviche, but didn't want more stale chips. The local Tres Arroyos Mexican lager was delicious. I had the small chicken tacitos with the chipotle sauce on the side. Perfect size for a small appetite and it was very delicious. The guacamole was also very flavorful. My partner got the Macho burrito and it totally hit the spot. It was huge and smothered in a tasty sauce. If the chips had been fresh this would have been 4 stars at least Would probably eat here again if we were passing through and wanted Mexican. read more
