The Care and Attention that each and every one of the Camp Counselors demonstrated from the very beginning was beyond Impressive -especially when the large majority were totally new to working as Camp Counselors. From the outset, at our first meal, Counselor Melanie came and sat down with us, chatting -welcoming, and incredibly Sweet! Ashley the Camp Media Star also came and sat next to us at our table. We chatted nicely, when suddenly, Ashley noticed a new family sitting at a different table... but were all alone. She mentioned this to Melanie, politely excused herself and went to make the new family feel as though they were at home and among Family! THE FOOD IS PHENOMENAL! Chef Oscar is one dedicated individual! Together with his Son Vincent, Each and Every Morning and Night they serve up A New Deliciously Tasting Meal! Raviolis, Pasta, Enchiladas, Chinese Food, Pancakes, Waffles, Biscuits And Gravy, Lasagna, On and ON!!! DELICIOUSNESS! Only someone who has to cook for a family knows how difficult of a task and feat it is to accomplish this type of tasty Variety Successfully! All Meals Were Also Vegetarian --EVEN HARDER! The Wrap-Around Balcony was a Special Treat on the second floor, as I was able to spend some time sitting and reading my book, outside in the Quiet of the Natural Surroundings, with a Fresh Breeze Blowing while listening to the rush of the River Below and the Beautiful Songs Of The Birds Singing Above... Wow - what an Incredible Setting! Each Worship Experience outdid the ones before. As we worshipped, the Spirit of God was palpable and increasingly present. They provided a wonderfully delicious candle-lit dinner preparation and feast where the evening ended with individual family prayer and devotions. Touched the hearts of every one of us! His wife Jenny joined us as well and only added to the Sweetness, Care and Kindness that they brought to the Camp experience. My two sons Absolutely Loved The Preaching of Pastor Heras, wanting more and more! Ultimately, there was a call to Baptism ... And Both of My Boys Gave Their Hearts To Christ and Were Baptized the following day at Camp! INCREDIBLE! Pastor Paulo and his Wife Ana are true Servants of Christ. They gave of themselves to the point of Total Exhaustion! Together with their two beautiful little daughters, Family Tenorio ministered to each and every one of the families in attendance that week. Was there in April to enjoy a weekend with my church family. The camp was blanketed with beautiful…read moresnow and the weather was just perfect. Stayed in the lodge which was clean and comfortable. My shower has great water pressure and plenty of hot water :) The camp has improved tremendously from when I used to go there as a teen in the 90's. Back then the food was bland and without any thought put into it. Boy has it changed...we had focaccia pizza with tomato bisque soup our first night there! Pleasantly surprised to find Vegan options are available now not just your plain vegetarian SDA options. The weekend was filled with various delicious options and I looked forward to the savory experience of every meal! Thanks to the friendly kitchen staff for taking the time to make us all feel welcomed and for placing so much love & thought into every meal. Looking forward to our next visit. God Bless CCF!

I've camped here a few times and it's always a good experience. Not too far from LA and Highway 38…read moreis a much easier drive than Highway 18 going to Big Bear in my opinion. Flush toilets and free showers available (both are generally clean with adequate hot water to shower with, and you'll see the "off duty" host clean them every day, but their condition will be highly dependent on your neighbors). There are a few hiking trail options during your stay: from inside the campground, if you follow the trail by the entrance/the hosts' RVs, to the right, a quick scurry across the highway, there's a mile long hike up to Jenks Lake. If you go left, you'll go through a few other campsites, then an amphitheater, and then an overlook area with a picnic table. There are a few loops in the trees behind the campgrounds, but I'm not sure where they lead as I just turned around eventually. The east loop (1-22) feels more spread out and private although there aren't really too many decent places to hang a hammock in most spots. The west loop (23+) feels a little closer together (but also not bad) with a lot more trees for shade and to hang hammocks. The west loop also tends to have more RVs and generator users for whatever reason though. I've mostly stayed on the east loop and would suggest bringing a canopy for shade. Even though the temperature may not seem that high, the sun is HOT, and is a little unbearable around 1 PM - 3 PM. Surprisingly, bugs are mostly a non issue even in the summer. Bundles of firewood for sale if conditions allow. $10 a bundle as of 07/2025 cash only. Expect each bundle to last about an hour. The host will go around selling however many fits on their cart or you can just drive your car up to the active host and fill your trunk. Big Bear is also a 30 minute drive away.

When our party arrived at the campsite, the host gave us the option of choosing a different campsite as they said our original site (#11) wasn't great. We camped at spot #74 and it was very spacious with plenty of shade in the afternoon (the mornings were quite hot). There were two dumpster sites a short walk away, and a parking space large enough for our 2 cars (crossover/ hatchback). The potable water pump was also closely accessible across the road. There are no flush toilets at Heart Bar, only vault toilets. However, staff kept the toilet area pretty clean and stocked with toilet paper. Each site has a firepit, picnic table, and bear box. The hosts sell firewood as well. This campground is also dog friendly, and our dogs had a great time. Compared to other campgrounds I've been to, Heart Bar is a lot bigger and feels more secluded and peaceful as there is plenty of space between campsites. I loved it here! Already thinking about when I can make my next trip back.

I fell in love with this camp site and I highly recommend to take your own trash back home. I found many of the dumpsters the next day full. I do not think it is to much to ask. It was a perfect weekend with a full-moon and it does get a bit chilly at night with thin air. It was really refreshing to get out of the city and relax under so many trees. Our experience was our neighbors were peaceful and kind. if you forget firewood they do sell some on site. extra small car parking fee per night $7.

Anyway, here's my review of this site I…read morevisited just recently: I initially planned on visiting Table Mountain campground, just 5 minutes away, but that place was packed out the wazoo. Couldn't grab a spot. So I came here as a backup. It was 11pm or so, but my party was able to snag a spot out of 6/8 occupied sites. We grabbed an empty table and some real estate at the top of the hill. The site is used for sledding when the snow comes in for the winter, so the grade is quite noticeable. Cars must be parked at the bottom of the hill, so if you have a lot of things, be prepared for some tiring back-and-forth from the bottom to the top and back again. Since our tents were set at the very top, we had the privilege of getting some extra steps in. Each campsite here is within 50 feet of another. You are within eyesight and earshot of your neighbors - this is a bit of a downside, as I prefer camping in peace and away from other people, to get away from the city. Bring earplugs if you can spare the space. We were granted the opportunity to listen to a large family rev up their trucks throughout the first night. It went on from 11pm-3am. That would have been ideal if my definition of camping was setting up my tent in the middle of a monster truck rally. But alas, it's not. Sites also come with a grill and a fire-ring, very nice for cooking if you wish to do so. I think firewood is sold at a few stores nearby, but you can scavenge for extra around the grounds, too. The two bathrooms at the bottom of hill were a predicament. It wasn't entirely clean (which most camp potties aren't already) but you are galactically screwed if the door gets left open. Flies will swarm the two toilets and make it virtually impossible to do your business. One or two flies won't deter me from popping my squat, but I'm telling you: I instead chose to dig a hole way uphill, park myself behind a tree out of sight, and did my thing out there. It was that bad. The black plague would have been proud. On the topic of bugs: BRING BUG SPRAY. And citronella candles. And keep your tent doors closed at all times. The bugs here go crazy. Seal your foods, especially any sweets, and make sure to keep your cooking materials off the ground to avoid ants. Other than that, there was plentiful shade and the trees are swept by a decent breeze that visits every so often. It made up for the sweltering heat that had been bogging down LA for weeks. When our louder neighbors would leave to hang out at the nearby lake, it was serene and awfully peaceful. Plus, since the campground is situated between two bigger hills, the sun doesn't linger around too much during the day. While it gets the job done, this site is a sub-par escape from the city and serves only as a mediocre, last minute find; my advice would be to reserve a much nicer, cleaner, and quieter campsite months in advance. Do your research, pack smartly, and have fun.
