Site are spacious and most are not paved except for your "parking spot". We brought our RV but commonly here you will find tent or small van camping. Will definitely be returning for another memorable R & R.

9/7/2026 thru 9/9/2025…read more We come to Dogwood every year because we really Love it here. We do the hiking trail twice a day, grill some meats, take Hot showers before bed and sleep in tents. It is beautiful here, the facilities are clean and most importantly you can take Free HOT showers. This year we planned to stay two nights at Campsite #87. But left early, only staying the one night leaving around 1pm on 9/8/2025. During the night around 1am we heard someone or an animal walking around outside our tent. (We have Never experienced any kind of wild life animal or people walking into our campsite before. This was the first time this happened to us). The steps were light and almost human. The light grunting and chewing on what sounded like twigs or maybe acorns and light heavy breathing is what made us realize it was not human. But we were not sure and all of us were scared to look outside. After staying still and playing dead for two to three hours we finally fell asleep and woke up around 5:30am. And started our day. Went for a hike and came back to our tent / campground. HUGE Black Bear encounter. We got back to our campsite before 10ish, ate, relaxed and were drinking tea. When suddenly out of no where I saw a huge Black Bear just casually strolling into our neighbors campsite walking past their RV camper and headed we towards the garbage dumpsters or towards the Rimforest high school. We Jumped into our car and stayed there until the bear was out of site. Then we met with the Park ranger and let them know that we just saw the Black bear. Park ranger then confirmed that the bear was also here last night. And that that there was a Mountain Lion lurking around as well. So we had to be on high alert and if we see the mountain lion to hide or get in your car. I gave my family members one look and within one second we agreed to pack up and head back home. Although we know bears can be seen whenever you go hiking or camping. We never expected it to actually ever happen to us. So to be safe we had to cut our trip short.

First of all, I'm honestly amused by some of the 1-star reviews complaining that it's crowded,…read morethere are flies and bugs, and people are playing loud music. LOL. Come on, people! This is a recreational area where people come to have a good time, BBQ, listen to music, and enjoy the outdoors with friends and family. Of course it's going to get crowded on weekends and holidays. And if you're cooking BBQ outdoors in nature, guess what? There are going to be flies and bugs! That's just common sense. Okay, now for my actual review. I give Silverwood Lake 4 stars. It's a relaxing place to BBQ, enjoy nature, and spend time with family and friends. Could it be cleaner? Absolutely. But I don't think that's completely the park's fault. Everyone needs to do their part. Pick up your trash, clean up after yourself, and help keep the public restrooms clean. If everyone respected the area, it would be a much nicer place for everyone. One important tip: If you're coming with a group, have someone arrive early when the park opens if you want to grab a good spot with picnic benches or a BBQ grill. It's first come, first served, and the good spots can go quickly, especially on busy weekends and holidays. Overall, it's a great place to BBQ, relax, enjoy the lake and nature, and have some fun. Stop worrying so much about a few bugs or the $20 parking fee. Pack your food, bring your family and friends, clean up after yourselves, and enjoy the day!

We reserved Campground No. 12, a spacious corner lot that offers one of the BEST VIEWS of the sunset. During summer hours, the sun doesn't set fully until close to 9 pm, and from a distance, I could see the city lights, which was Lancaster. The campground provides bear lockers to store food, as bears are commonly seen in the area. It's essential to keep food properly in the evening. The campground also has flush toilets and toilet paper, though they may not be the cleanest. There's a fire pit for burning wood and a table for dining. If you forget to bring your wood, the campground host sells a bundle for $10. Overall, I had a great time hanging out with friends, and the distance is tolerable for many Angelenos.

What an awesome little spot!…read more Emphasis on little. The campsites are very close to one another with very tight parking for your vehicles. However, if you come in with more of a community mindset than seeking isolation in nature, it'll be just fine. We went camping with our teen and our toddler (sorry neighbors), but there were lots of other children around so it felt pretty family-friendly. The camp host was super friendly and they had local firewood for sale onsite. Facilities were pretty clean, even when they were a little bit more on the trashed side during a 5am bathroom run (was it children or critters, idk but the toilet paper was everywhere haha). Every campsite had a bear box, picnic bench, and fire pit; trash disposal was conveniently placed and walking distance from most campsites. Since it was July, it was on the warmer side but still fresh and beautiful. My toddler had a blast chasing all the lizards. And while we were a little nervous about the bear warnings with a hyperactive toddler in our party, we didn't see anything bigger than a squirrel. We will definitely be back!

She says that it's her day off and that the music on the campsite is not allowed. She was literally yelling at us and this was our first time speaking to this woman. Understandable to be mad if you this was our second warning but it was not. We did nothing wrong we just did not know. She came at us with intentions to fight and did not try to communicate with us. We told her that the other ranger told us that the music was fine. THEN she calls Joseph on speaker and starts getting mad at him and legit arguing with him in front of us. We literally tuned off the music and gave her what she wanted but she would not leave our spot. She said that she was gonna call the cops. But we were not fighting or arguing.... We gave her what she wanted. She said "if you get difficult I will have to start recording for my protection" CLASIC Karen move. The literal next day, our camp neighbors had music (in English) and she had not problem with it. We heard that music the whole day. But let it not be music in Spanish cause they she feels the need to record.... After this embarrassing interaction, both rangers actively avoided us.... We reserved the week and only spent 1 night. The spot was great, the staff not so much.
