His team looked the car up and down -- and found one thing that was going to fail. They never find "extra" problems that fatten their wallets. They know that they're going to do well if they're honest. They fixed that one thing, which would have gone. And I'm back home, in fine fettle. No place is going to be completely perfect -- but we have taken three different cars to them, never had a follow-up problem, never had a bill that seemed unreasonable, and even had him tell us on a number of occasions that he could fix something (and he could!) without an expensive overhaul. I left my car there for 6 days for inspection, new tires and some exhaust work. When I picked it up I was charged for work that wasn't done (tire alignment) and had a dead battery that was absolutely no issue before trusting this place with my vehicle. After going back and forth with various mechanics which involved them trying first to blame me, and then blame each other, we come to find out my car was left on by mechanics and shot my battery. My back seat was destroyed by mechanics and now needs to be completely replaced, tried to talk their way out of that one too, and the real kicker, they still failed me for inspection after allegedly doing the work that was needed to pass inspection. This put a horrendous taste in my mouth. They say a customer with a positive experience will tell 5 people but a customer with a negative one will tell 25, so hopefully this reaches at least 25 of you and you can take it for what it's worth. I've known Guy, the owner, and his awesome crew since 2008, when I moved to Marblehead. I moved to Quincy in 2017, and have no desire to find another shop that I could go to nearby. I was in a minor traffic accident that was caused by this shop. I was informed informed that my that my brakes failed in the accident upon inspection of the appraiser where my car was taken to. What they found is a brake line with a double compression fitting connector had separated the brake line. They only replaced the affected section and not the whole line either. I was also informed that these are illegal to use for braking systems in cars. I provided the receipts and documents of repair to my attorney and we are proceeding to pursue legal action against this station. Avoid this station if you are having brake problems with your vehicle or anything else that will interfere with your safety. In fact avoid all together! read more

I've called and asked about the price for Interstate battery MT-35. They named me the price that was above $120, plus $20 installation. $20 installation for a battery in a passenger car? And over $120 for the battery with the list price of $119.95 and suggested retail price of $99.95 (according to the Interstatebatteries website)?!! They might be nice (which I unfortunately won't get to experience), but the prices don't make sense. read more

Took my 2015 Jeep here for service. These guys put in a drive shaft, new tires, brakes, (pads and rotors) and a oil change all in 2 days. Definitely a hefty bill, but there was a lot of work done. My wife also brings her car here for oil changes, which are usually right around 40-50$, ( 100$+ at Valvoline down the street ) they also check and fill all fluids, and they do it in 20 min.. definitely a good spot.. read more

Got a rusty brake line replaced by them with a leak and they only replaced half the line and never bled the brakes properly so they stopped uneven when applied. The other rusty brake line half sprung a leak only 2 weeks later having me crash the car into another in front of me when the brakes went to the floor and I could not stop. The car was totaled in the front. I found the leak on the other half of the brake line that was not replaced. I could have been killed if I was going down a hill into traffic and had no brakes. I would not trust these guys. They only do half ass work which could impair your safety. read more

Always use this location for annual inspections on our vehicles. Everyone there works hard and they move cars through quickly even when they're busy. We just took a car over that didn't pass emissions (it was right after purchase and needed more mileage for something to work). They gave me a temporary sticker and had me come back after a little more mileage to complete the inspection at no additional charge. Highly recommend. read more

In late December of 2013, I took my car in for the inspection sticker, oil change and to have a light bulb put in my taillight. $90. When I drove away, my VHS (Vehicle Stability) light came on. I brought it to my dealer, who showed me that my oil was low and "gunky". I explained that I just had the oil changed- and the mechanic said, "Absolutely not". Paradise Citgo charged me but never changed the oil. I sat in the waiting room and watched them- and they weren't busy. They didn't forget- they knew I was in for an oil change. They just didn't do the work. Never got a receipt- can't do anything about it...but I can let others know about my experience. The guys in the shop are very pleasant- but they're dishonest. read more

I really wanted to leave a good review. But i left my car there for almost 2 weeks. Nothing was done and they stole my tires.

Took a car there to have it checked out mechanically before purchasing. The technician did a very thorough job of looking the car over. I was very pleased. He charged $40 for his work, which I considered very reasonable. My only complaint is that the garage was so busy, it took twice as long to have the car checked as the tech was jumping from job to job, stopping to move vehicles in and out of the bays. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to go back again. Just allow for more time. read more

The Paradise Road Citgo charges top-of-the-lines rates and does careless, sloppy work. Expect to spend a long time waiting for them to do it as well. They put a new tire on my car and a week later it was flat. I brought it back and instead of checking the tire right away, the guy told me to take a seat in the waiting room. I told him that was unacceptable, that I didn't have the time to sit in the waiting area again He then refused to look at the tire.The experience was very aggravating, especially after paying top dollar for the tire. They put it on the car without telling me about a dent in the rim, didn't put a sealant between the rim and the tire, and failed to balance the tire. They overinflated my front tires and underinflated the rear ones. I've been buying gas from that station for years, and am disgusted by the owner's rude, arrogant, and supercilious attitude. I spent more than an hour waiting for them to find out which tire to order, and a couple of hours waiting for them to put it on the car. Their work is not only shoddy, but also expensive. It started off well but ended badly. I had a bumper that needed to be replaced. I got a quote and they ordered the part needed from the dealer. I left my car for 4 days while travelling. Not only was my car not repaired but there was no heads-up. When I finally got in touch with them, they told me they received the wrong bumper so they had to order another one and I had to bring my car back. They called when they received the new part and told me it would only take a couple of hours to fix. I made an appointment and dropped off the car a SECOND time. They told me they couldn't get my car done in 3 hours, which is when I needed it back. What's the point of making an appointment if they can't honor it??!! So, I had to bring my car back a THIRD time. I was very clear when I dropped it off and gave them three hours to get it done. They didn't call me until SEVEN hours later. Not only did they not keep their commitments several times but they caused significant inconvenience on my part and wasted mine and my husband's time going back and forth for the 3 times it took to repair the car. In fairness, I asked for a small amount off the labor. They refused, saying they lost money on the bumper. It wasn't my fault they got the wrong part! I was incensed that they couldn't take responsibility for not having my car repaired the first time, not honoring my appointment the second time and not fulfilling their obligation the third time. They wasted my time on several occasions and didn't have the decency or honesty to own up to their mistakes. I will never go back here again!!! I advise that you don't either, unless you like poor service that doesn't live up to expectations. read more

I have to say, there are some awesome people that work at Paradise Citgo, and most of the time it's very hard to say that about a mechanics. Not once have I been disappointed. They're friendly, and the waiting area is clean. They explain everything that needs to be done in a way that a person who doesn't know much about mechanics would understand. Gus is also a hard worker and takes care of his customers. You wouldn't be disappointed! What I love about this place is that they don't rip you off on prices like other places do, and they never take longer than necessary. They give you a time, and it's always ready by that time. Don't go for inspection big mistake it'll cost you hundreds and they can't speak english

I'm surprised at the number of positive reviews that this mechanic has received, and wanted to share some of my experiences just to provide some more insight to the quality of work performed. I have had two vehicles serviced here, and both of them left with more problems than when they had arrived. First, a Ford went in for a ball joint (typical) and while all seemed fair and well when it left, a strange wobbling started coming through the steering wheel once it hit highway speeds the next day. After pulling over and inspecting the wheel, I discovered that all the lug nuts were loose! When I say loose, I mean I could tighten them further with my bare hands. I am fortunate I was able to pull over when I did, because that wheel could have come completely off at any second on the highway, and I am actually surprised the car had made it that far. Secondly, I brought another SUV in for some work and an oil change just a few weeks ago.(They do make relatively quick work of things here, and I was short on time). Once again I left and everything seemed like it was done very well. Redemption! I thought to myself. But today, when I reached down under my dashboard to pull the hood open lever, I was surprised when the lever pulled like it was not attached to anything. Closer inspection revealed that not only was the lever broken but the hood is not jammed shut, and even the second latch behind the grill of the car will not release it. I will not be bringing any more vehicles to this garage. read more

These guys are outstanding! I've taken my car here several times, for things as small as a headlight out (which they replaced on the spot in the parking lot), to larger maintenance/repairs such as replacing a timing belt and water pump. Took my car to this shop for check engine light and upon figuring out problem. Gus (owner) found problem related to converter. Advised me to call dealer as converter is covered up to 110 k miles.
