The food was ok but not worth the price they were charging. But then again I grew up in Kenosha with the likes of Tenuta's and Manga's in an area where a lot of grandparents were actually from Italy. Spotted this place two miles from our B&B. Chose it based on the name alone. Turns out it's been featured on the Food Network and a favorite of locals and the summer crowd. Needless to say, this place was hopping. We were able to squish in and dine at the full-service bar since we didn't have a reservation. Shout out to bartender Alejandro for our warm greeting, premier service and entertaining mixology. As for the food, if you aren't getting one of their signature chicken dishes, you get to choose your style of pasta and accompanying sauce. Our food came out piping hot and we highly recommend the putanesca sauce. We finished with a generous portion of lovely tiramisu. I recommend leaving room for dessert. Exceeded our expectations. We have driven by here between Madison and Chicago and liked the name but expected the food to be just ok. The staff was very welcoming and everyone was bustling on this Saturday night. We enjoyed a Basil-tini to kick it off. We had a wonderful time and a great meal at Holy Canoli. The wood fired pizza was outstanding. We love a crispy thin crust pizza. The combination of very thin and crispy crust is elusive. We have found our go to spot for the perfect pizza. They started us with a delicious homemade marinara and bread. The marinara was so good, we will be back for the pasta. We also had the grilled calamari, char grilled and served whole. The calamari was tender and a delicious hearty starter. Rumour has it the Vodka Sauce is excellent. We shared the large tiramisu for dessert. I am fussy about tiramisu but their tiramisu is exactly the way I like it. Everything is incorporated perfectly. Had heard and read great things about this place but had never tried it. We decided to take our family for our sons 17th birthday and were overwhelmed with the service and quality of the food.. The entire staff from the hostess to the server to the bussers were all friendly and very professional. Even though the place was full they made you feel like you had the place to yourself. I tried the dish that was featured on the Food Network show the Best Thing i Ever Ate. It was to die for good!! All of our pasta dishes were cooked to perfection which is rare in Wisconsin. Can't wait to try other items on the menu and I hope they can fire up their pizza oven soon as they were short staffed and have temporarily stopped serving pizza. read more

Tonight had angel hair pasta with marinara ($16.95) and asked to add some vegetables (TINY amount of broccoli, peas, spinach, and diced red pepper). Thought all was well until the bill. We live in Lake Geneva and we have become regulars here. It is our favorite place to eat in the area. They bring you out bread with marinara to snack on before the food comes out which is really good. Then we usually order the cannoli salad and it is always very fresh and has a great dressing. The pizzas are made in a wood burning oven which adds a great flavor to them. For entrees, we usually get pasta dishes, although the chicken is very good, as well. Our favorites are the gnocchi with vodka sauce and spaghetti with bolognese. Delicious. And the cannoli dip for dessert has cannoli cream with pieces of cannoli to dip in it. The manager even gave us extra pieces of cannoli last night. I would recommend. Make sure to make a reservation for a weekend night because it gets busy. read more

*Carry-out review only* My family ordered 2 large pizzas for carry-out on a Friday night. We had to wait about 10 minutes extra for the food even though we ordered a little over an hour in advance. We understand that the pizza is thin-crust and "well-done" (read: burnt edges), but this pizza is really thin; it's more like a flat bread. We didn't really feel that each one was worth $23. On the other hand, we have eaten in the restaurant before and enjoyed the other food and experience at that time. We'll probably stick to eating in and not carrying out. read more

We did not mind the short wait but the staff treated us like royalty. The servers were excellent and went above and beyond to ensure that we had a good experience. I love this restaurant; it is a hidden gem. Everything I have had here has been delicious. I've been here twice now and have ordered the same entrée both times. The gnocchi are amazing. They make it in house every other day and it is made with ricotta instead of a potato base. I order it with the vodka sauce, and it is a perfect combination. They offer different specials every single night so there is always something new to try. They have an assortment of noodle choices that you can pair with all of their sauce options. You receive a fresh breadbasket which includes a variety of breads served with their delicious marinara. I was surprised that I did not receive olive oil and parmesan for the bread, I do wish that was served along with the breadbasket. I've tried the antipasto plate for an appetizer which is full of fresh meats and cheeses including capicola, mortadella, provolone, salami, and prosciutto (some meats were wrapped around cheeses). The plate also comes with olives, bruschetta on toasted bread, and balsamic red peppers that are all delicious. My first visit I tried the fried mozzarella which is also amazing. It is fried cheese that is melty in the middle with their marinara sauce. During my most recent visit, I had a soup that was on special. It was tortellini in fresh broth with spinach. This soup was super simple but was full of flavor. I've also tried the Italian sausage which comes on the side with the marinara. The sausage was very good as well. My boyfriend ordered one of the coal-fired pizzas. He ordered the Holi Cannoli pizza which includes mozzarella, ricotta, parmesan, and provolone. He ordered prosciutto on top of this and it was delicious. This pizza is very rich with all of the cheeses, but it was nice and well-done on a cracker like crust which is what I like. For dessert, I've had the Holi Cannoli on both visits. The cannoli is traditional and what you would expect, but it is fantastic. The staff here are very nice and the service is great. We went on a busy night, my boyfriend's pizza was taking longer than my pasta, and our waitress was new. The staff was on top of this and made sure to get everything out with as little time between our entrees as possible. Great Italian restaurant in ElkHorn! I live in the chicago land area so I can humbly say that I am really spoiled with food options. It's hard when I come up north and the options are limited. My family and I have been coming to eat here for a couple of years and I can say that I always leave a happy customer. My boys (7 and 5) always go for the spaghetti with bolognese (go with the angel hair)... today I tried the special (bass, see picture) I finished the entire plate... perfect portion a bit heavier than I like but I like to eat very lean so compared to most rural Wisconsin restaurants I would definitely come back here again.
