We have never stayed at a Holiday Inn Express where the keys don't open any of the doors other than our room. We couldn't get in from the pool area. Had to walk around to entrance! Ice machine...on main floor doesn't work had to go to 3rd floor. Pool was very dirty. Jacuzzi wasn't on and there were no controls to turn it on. Late Check out for platinum elite has been 2pm & we had a hard time getting it for 1pm (we had to beg and ask for management to step in) Alicia was new and alone at the front with no one above her to help. Bathroom doesn't close correctly. TV channels: majority of them are audio only!!! Not a lot of options had to use our own devices. and inefficient parking. We will NOT stay here again. read more

3-6 thru 3-8-26 Well, I had high hopes for this hotel but unfortunately I was disappointed once again. The staff were polite and friendly but desk clerks don't fix things. Not blaming them. 1- The bathtub spigot dripping incessantly. 2- Toilet lid was improperly installed meaning one could not sit without the chance of falling off. 3- Bathroom tiles were loose. I actually picked up several and put them back in place. 4- Breakfast... both mornings they served obviously chopped up hard boiled eggs, insisting they were scrambled eggs. As if no one knew what scrambled eggs looked/ tasted like. 5- Cold potatoes. 6- Watery coffee. Thank goodness for the biscuits and gravy. The dripping spigot and loose tiles were not new issues, the mustiness proved that. The incorrectly installed toilet seat was just laziness. When I reported the issues the clerk didn't make a note; simply said "we don't do maintenance on the weekend." read more

The staff was friendly and professional. The room was very roomy and accommodating (we had a king suite). The room was clean, as were the main areas. The issue is that the room was on the first floor and faced the parking lot. So, the view was not pleasant. I have Celiac disease, and there were no gluten-free options for breakfast. They were out of milk, so my daughter could not have cereal. The food options were limited - scrambled eggs, pancakes, sausages, and of course, their cinnamon rolls (which I cannot have, nor can my husband, who is diabetic). We also noticed that the person responsible for food service was also cleaning the rooms (is this because they have a staff shortage, or are they overworking their staff?). I did not use the swimming pool or exercise room, so I cannot comment on those. It is an okay hotel; we stay there because it is close to Sherwood Forest Faire, otherwise we would not stay there. read more

This hotel is INFESTED. Absolutely infested with bugs. Not only did we find a full grown roach but a large spider the size of 4 quarters. It had made a web all across the corner of the room and was quite easy to spot. This hotel needs better pest control and cleaning staff. They clearly would have seen the web as we saw it immediately by the size of it. If you want to stay at this hotel be prepared to sleep with BUGS. Not only are there bugs, the front desk clerk would not refund our first night even though we did not stay the full night. They only refunded our next two nights we planned on staying. The manager was EXTREMELY rude. They even went as far as putting air quotes around "cockroaches" and "spiders" as if we were lying for a refund. I will be sure to NEVER come back again. The highlight of my stay was the staff. The two I interacted with were friendly and helpful. On the downside, the A/C was turned off when I got to my room, so it was hot, stuffy and had a musty odor. It took about 2 hours for the room to cool down. The TV didn't work. There were water stains on the window shades. Mildew on the caulk around the tub. read more

My family is trying to book hotels for our brother's funeral on Thursday. The funeral arrangements had to be changed so we need to change our hotel reservations and they are not accommodating us AT ALL. Two of my family members were able to change reservations without any issues or fees. But they are charging another family member $165 for canceling and rebooking. They are basically wanting to adjust the dates of their stay. I would think they would be more accommodating for a situation like this. I hope this is not an indication as to what our stay will be like. I'm pretty sure the entire hotel is booked due to my brother's funeral. I understand Elgin is a small town and the staff are probably overwhelmed. But this is no way to treat people when they are already in distress. I will be posting reviews on Yelp, Google and reaching out to corporate. read more

I give this place 0 stars. I would give it negative 10. It was the worse experience ever from the moment we walked in. The concierge was "missing" and didn't reappear for a while. During check in I was given my room keys where I booked 3 double rooms. All the rooms were Kings instead of the doubles I booked, and I was told there was nothing they could do (What?). After I argued a while I was informed they were booked solid, ummm but I booked in ADVANCE what I wanted. Back to the rooms, all different floors even though I requested joining rooms as I was traveling with my track team and plenty of kids but guess what yea yea they're booked solid. Sooooo... the room on the first floor has water leaking down the wall and a hole by the air conditioning unit that you can see clear outside!! The concierge had the nerves to ask what we wanted her to do about it (Wow)! Now mind you this is Texas and snake country and I think I should be concerned?? Room on second floor has a filthy shower and now wear and tear, filth like someone didn't bother to clean it at all after the last guest and lets not even talk about a bat size bug posted up like the room was his (Everything is big in Texas!) Room 3 more of the same crap. Smells like musk and mildew upon entry, could it be because the air conditioning unit has leaked all over the floor and the carpet is soaked!! But you guessed it, what do I want them to do is what I was asked This hotel price gouged me in a city that didn't have any other options and I paid Hilton prices ($170) for Motel 6 service and room quality. Next time I will sleep in my car 1st!! read more

After I wrote the original below...we later discovered the bed linens were not changed...Nathaniel (night desk) was incredibly helpful and literally didn't even know what to say with the soiling on the linens. He has been the most helpful of all the staff. Will talk with the gm tomorrow... We were truly hoping for a good experience since they recently remodeled. Nope! Told for 2 hours that our room would be ready in 20 to 30 minutes. Then....we get to the hallway of the room and hear nothing but hammers pounding for their roof replacement. The room staff on the floor could hardly hear us asking what the hours were of construction. When I went downstairs and approached the front desk the manager's remark was "everyone that had a room reserved was sent a letter about the construction"...nope! Not only that, the front desk person did not mention a word about what would happen to the noise level when we approached our room. We switched to a step down room one floor below. The pounding starts at 8:00am and ends at 6:00pm. I get staffing issues and things being delayed but I do expect more of an effort and professionalism from a hotel manager. She was not prepared to support staff or customers. read more

The worst experience ever. The concierge told me the cheapest room was $75. Two days later I was charged $115. When I returned for a refund of my $40 overcharge, the concierge was very rude and unhelpful, saying only, she could give me a copy of the bill. I wish that was the worst thing I could say about this establishment. The location was awful with minimal nearby amenities. The walls were way to thin for being so close to the highway, and I was woken several times by the sounds of trucks. The bed and pillows were stiff and uncomfortable. The ac/heater was cheap and inefficient. And the parking was terrible and dangerous. To add icing to the cake I found a bedbug on the bed when I left. I will never stay there again and urge others not to have the same bad experience I have had. They should be shut down. read more

Stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Elgin, TX last night after a 90th birthday party for my uncle. The staff was friendly, courteous and helpful. The public spaces were clean and inviting. My room was spotless, neat and tidy. If I had thought to pack a bathing suit, I could have enjoyed the pool. This morning's complimentary breakfast was surprisingly well laid out with so many choices. I decided on bacon, a cheese omelet and a biscuit smothered with sausage gravy. Went back for yogurt, an apple and a banana. I highly recommend this hotel. read more

Horrible Customer Service. We left a pillow behind. My mom really wanted her pillowcase back (palm tree and matched her bedding at home) I called and they said yes they had the pillow and case. I asked for them to send just the case back. They said yes if I would send a prepaid self assessed stamped envelope. Which I did. I had the matching case weighed and sent a prepaid envelope. I also called to follow up. I have been TOTALLY ignored. I assume someone there is just a thief and either stole the cool pillow case or just stole the prepaid envelope for their own personal use. I travel frequently, and IHG hotels are my preferred brand and I like Holiday Inns because I think they are fairly priced, especially with free breakfast. But let me tell you about this hotel. *Note: I have stayed at this location once previously with a positive experience. From the exterior it appears the hotel has either been renovated or built within the last 5 years. There is limited parking, so you may want to keep that in mind if you have some sort of trailer or RV. But in the attached shopping center, that was formerly a grocery store, it seems to me there would be enough space to park an RV or trailer if needed. Moving on, the rooms are pretty standard, there was some strange scratches on the counters and in the bathtub ... but those were nothing major, the room was clean, and that's what matters. read more

**THE WORST OF THE WORST** This place looks more like a drug-user hotel. Brought my family in from Dallas and it was pubic hairs in the shower and the AC didn't work. The room also smelled horrible like stagnant water and mothballs. My wife sprayed her perfume to help disguise the smell it was so bad. We stayed in the room for approximately 45 minutes, checked completely out, and found a hotel in Austin. We had lots of bags and luggage but, we didn't care. I informed the front desk receptionist about the condition of the room and she stated she was the only one there and couldn't remember if the room was cleaned or not due to short staff. I contacted General Manager (Dawn Romeo) and she was rude and unprofessional. She stated we were in the room longer than 30 minutes and couldn't be refunded. I was refunded anyways through my bank. Loved this hotel. It has been newly renovated and is so clean and pretty. The staff especially the front desk staff, were absolutely amazing. They were so welcoming and accommodating. Breakfast is served for guests every morning and you have choices from bacon, sausage, vegetarian omelettes, cinnamon rolls, cereal, toast, coffee, juice. Great way to start the morning! I have absolutely no complaints about this hotel and look forward to staying there again soon. read more

In general I find holiday inn to be a clean and reasonably priced chain. I tend to stay at this chain of hotels when I travel which is quite frequently. Stayed here this weekend. Weekend isn't even over and I'm rating because this hotel leaves much to be desired! From the outside it looks very nice, and modern! But upon entry your met with the sight of dead crickets everywhere. Our room smelled musky, and had a dehumidifier that hadn't been cleaned out. We must have killed four or five bugs in our room, and the bed was hard and uncomfortable. There are plenty of hotels within 15 minutes of this one that make the drive worth it. read more

From the outside looking in, its a nice place. The parking lot is SMALL and cramped. It's shared with an auto parts store and restaurants....it's PACKED! Good luck because they don't police who parks where. At night its also sketchy. ALL kinds of people walking around. Price wise...I feel like they gouge you on price as they are the only hotel in town. For where it's at, the service, style and etc, price is WAY too high, even for a Holiday Inn. The initial room was horrible. Mold growing in the shower, room was extremely humid and smelled like mildew...even the hallway stunk. When I say growing, there was several patches that I brought to their attention. They moved us but not without griping first. The lady offered to help move my mom and daughters stuff to a new room as I was leaving...she said she would bring keys to the room and get it moved over. Well when she brought they keys, they were too busy to help so I came back that night to get it moved over. Very frustrating. All in all...I wouldn't recommend this place and they won't stay here again. My other daughter stayed in Manor which is only 15 minute drive and the room was MUCH better! read more

We have stayed here twice; once during the October 2015 floods and once when our A/C went out at home nearby. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. We have a large dog and they welcome her like a human. The FREE breakfast is great and worth mentioning, who doesn't like free breakfast? The rooms are clean and comfortable. We are planning on spending a weekend night here for "fun" sometime. read more
