This hotel was a good halfway point between destinations. Reserved two rooms. Showed up two hours before check-in, and we were able to check in early! The manager on duty was super friendly, and gave me directions to a Starbucks nearby :) The pool was not as clean as we would've hoped - but that's OK. I was traveling from Baltimore MD to Melbourne FL and I selected this hotel because they were in about the half way point of my journey. Based on my south-bound stay, I booked another room for my trip back to Maryland as soon as I got to Florida. On both of my one-night stays, the front desk check-in went off without a hitch and the rooms were clean and comfy. On my first stay, I had time to take advantage of their indoor pool. The pool area was clean and had nice furniture to relax on. The free hot breakfast that was included with the room was super nice. They have a pancake machine (didn't try that) along with some hot dishes like biscuits and gravy, sausage links and scrambled eggs. Also grits, fresh fruit and cereal. The breakfast starts at 6 am so I was only able to take advantage of that one morning. Free hot popcorn in the lobby every evening. In case you're not sold on this place....there is a Buc-ees across the street so you can always go over there to get what you need. It's a wild place, but pretty quiet and nice at 4 am. read more

I had a great stay here at the Holiday Inn! I didn't spend a ton of time in the room but it was very clean, smelled nice, and had everything I needed. The shower was very nice as well. The pressure from the shower head was all I needed after a long day. They carry Dove products in the bathroom which was a nice surprise! The soap smelled so good. I love that they carry quality products for guests to use. The bed had a ton of pillows and it was clean and spacious. I got some really great rest because it was quiet as well! I knocked off a star because the breakfast was meh. I came down about an hour before it was supposed to end and most of the food was gone. The pancake machine didn't work either. I thought they may replace some of the items that were out as I dined, but they only replaced the omelets. I got some toast, cereal, and coffee and decided to just grab something else to eat later. My coworkers and I stayed here for our work trip and upon checking into my room, I found a dead roach in the bathroom. I've stayed at many IHG hotels around the country, and I have never ever encountered anything close to this. My coworkers also found issues in their rooms which makes us wonder if they even clean anything. The towels still had hair on them and my bed sheet had dried blood stains that looked like they were purposely hidden. My coworkers had stains on their bathroom floors and one of my coworkers found toilet paper that was still lingering in the toilet. It's very disappointing especially since my company gives them alot of business too. We had too many issues that we ended up switching to another hotel the next day and documented this with our travel agency. read more

Stopped for an overnight stay after a long travel day on 95. Used an internet coupon and got $40 off the nightly rate. When I arrived at 6:30pm, hot popcorn was popping in the lobby. Very impressed with the hotel. It is super clean. My king room is very spacious. Small fridge, microwave and coffee maker. Bed is comfortable. Bathroom is shower only (no tub). There is also an indoor pool. Only dining options are Subway and Zaxby's. There is a Buc-ee's just down the road from the hotel. That is a fun place to go and look around or grab snacks or something quick to eat on the road. read more

We stopped here for the night during a long road trip after it became apparent that we could not continue on due to weather and the habitual Interstate 95 delays related to holiday travel in SC. The hotel was clean and the staff (both evening and day shift were overly helpful). Examples include providing spare bedding so we could make the pull out bed in the suite, as well as the hotel providing basic essentials that you may have forgotten like a toothbrush or a razor for free. Everyone was very courteous. The only complaint we have is that breakfast was a hassle. The state of South Carolina or the business (not sure which one) requires you to use gloves while touching your food with tongs on the buffet line. Additionally, the lady who provided the food felt is necessary to lecture guests on the requirements as opposed to refilling the cinnamon rolls that the business advertises on their ads/ billboards. The buffet was well stocked though with bread, muffins, cinnamon rolls, biscuits, gravy, cheese omelets, oatmeal, cereal, yogurt, milk and juice. The only fruit available was apples and the coffee was weak and watered down. If you stay for breakfast, once you get your food be aware there is a second dining area in the area behind the buffet so you can eat in peace and not hear lectures on COVID or other guests taking phone calls in the lobby. Just look for the open walkway and hook a right. I would stay here again. read more

We had a reservation, arrived at 10:00 pm after driving all day. We went to room 308 as instructed. The room had a do not disturb sign on the door, and when we opened it, we saw that the bed was unmade. Was it currently in use? Who knows? We went back to the front desk and were told that the hotel was booked. She didn't know if someone was using the room or if the room was just not cleaned. She didn't seem to care. She actually asked if we wanted to stay in the room! No, I do not want ti stay in the dirty room that may or may not be occupied! We received no "I'm sorry; we screwed up. How can we make this right?" Nothing. When my husband asked for a receipt to show that the reservation had been cancelled, she said she cancelled it and that there's no record of it now. Still no apology, nothing. Now we're in the car and have to drive another 45 minutes to Lumberton. Unbelievable! Terrible customer service. read more

What a wonderful time myself and the family had here at the Holiday Inn Express and Suites. We came down for a family reunion that was located in Johnsonville and this was the closest we could get that was great. Everything was wonderful and definitely recommend. Make sure you get up early to get the breakfast. Definitely worthwhile and its included. The indoor pool was fun and clean. They even had a movie room with a massage chair!! We drove from NY to FL and chose the Holiday Inn off of i95 in Florence, SC. The hotel is clean, completely remodeled, and immaculate. Our room was quiet and the beds were supper comfortable. The breakfast in the morning fed us and we were back on the road. The only downfall is the lack of food in the area. This hotel is not in the hub of Florence hotels, and the only food options were Zaxby's and McDonalds. Stop for dinner before you stop at this hotel! read more

I took one star off because there were pop corn kernals and beef jerky on the floor...cleaning staff probably was overwhelmed and did not vacuum the room completely. I am on the road for over 100 nights a year. This is a very disappointing hotel. Especially when you consider that it is a newly built property. The toilets are too low. Other brands use comfort height toilets. The bathtubs in the showers are too narrow. The water pressure for the shower was barely usable for a shower. It looks like house keeping cleans around things and doesn't bother with the corners. The mattresses are cheap and uncomfortable. The pillows had a horrible aroma and were stained. The attitude of the woman at the desk that checked me in was abysmal and bordering on rudely dismissive. The woman at the check in desk used a phone to take a picture of the computer screen with my information (PII). When I challenged her about it, she told me to, "not worry about it," and that, "it was no big deal we do it all the time." This has caused me to put a hold on the credit card I used for the room out of fear of fraud/theft. There will be no, "next stay," at any Holiday Inn Express or IHG properties. I wanted to give Holiday Inn Express and IHG a chance. I did and was extremely disappointed. read more

Traveling from Ellsworth Maine to Bradenton Florida we needed a place to stay. We've never been to South Carolina before so decided to check Yelp, we just needed a room for one night while driving through. This was an amazing way to start off our family vacation. After driving 18-hours straight we booked a room at this hotel. Within minutes we were there, just off from 95. There was only one assistant working the desk, Rakeim. While speaking on the phone (being very polite) he was trying to book in another guest in to the hotel. When done with his phone conversation he greeted us. He said the room wasn't ready yet, we were disappointed at the time, but he said he would go clean the room himself when finished. He said he was the only one working there at the time. We asked for a place to eat dinner. Rakeim said he would have the room cleaned by the time we got back. Dinner was amazing and by the time we returned our room was ready. The room was exactly what we needed, clean and comfy. I used the gym the next morning, which was awesome and we didn't realize breakfast came with the room. Staff the next day were just as accommodating. The woman behind the counter actually told me to have a "blessed" day! Excellent way to start off the last leg of our trip! Stayed at this hotel last night as we were avoiding the hurricane as it went through myrtle beach. The front staff were super friendly. The hotel in general was really clean and hand multiple sanitation stations set up around the hotel. Due to COVID they still offer breakfast , but it's more of a grab and go bag. The worker serving breakfast was friendly and did an awesome job of explaining everything as well as helping us out. Although we didn't have time to use it, they also have a gym filled with a variety of different weights and cardio machines. The pool is well kept and maintained. We took one star off because this place was crazy freezing. We set the thermostat in our room on 70° but it was still blowing cold air. The room was beautiful and well appointed very clean. The bed was very comfortable. I woke up with a scratchy throat. I mentioned to the front desk about it being so cold that they made no effort to adjust the temperature despite the fact that they admitted they were cold too. There is a Zaxby's next door end it looks like it is a fairly new hotel. We would stay here again but would tweak the temperature more. read more

I was travelling south and after several hours, we decided to stay at the Holiday Inn Express in Florence. We arrived there late. Check in was uneventful. The number provided for this hotel was not a Holiday Inn direct number, but a number to reservations.com. In addition to being charged for the hotel and the taxes, we were zapped with a $15 service fee from reservations.com. None of this was made clear upon initial booking but why was a direct number to the hotel not provided? When we got to the room, there was no internet access which we needed for work despite using the instructions provided. The toilet also did not work,.When I brought this to the attention of the front desk, she arrived at our room with an ethernet cable [useless], handed me a plunger and left. For the remainder of the evening, whenever we had to use the toilet, we had to use the plunger as well. She made no effort to send someone to look at it or even follow up with a phone call. On a positive note, the breakfast was good-hot and cold food, yogurt, hard boiled eggs, cereal, etc. The room was clean and orderly. Upon checkout, we brought the internet issue up to the clerk in charge [someone new] and she seemed surprised since she stated this had just been updated. As a business traveller, it was crippling not to be able to access the internet. One has to wonder if there were known issues with the internet and or the toilets in the hotel or in particular, with this room. it was a disappointing stay-it was not inexpensive and i felt cheated. read more

Great commuting hotel & value for the price. We checked in around midnight on our drive to FL, and right away we felt safe and like it would be a nice place to stay. A king or a double-queen room for $133 Our first room smelled like smoke so we asked to switch and we're put in a nice clean fresh smelling room just down the hall. The facilities are nice... Fitness room with treadmills, bikes, full set of dumbells, med balls, resistance bands, bosu balls. Adjoined was a big movie room with couches so kids can go watch a movie The breakfast area is nice too and the selection was good. The stay here was a complete travesty. My family and I have been here in the past but that was before the pandemic. The room we were given felt like a joke that wasn't funny. The lights were on when we came in which were already red flags. The amount of hair on the beds and bathroom made us think animals rented the room prior. I was coughing the entire night due to the unclean atmosphere. We had to ask the rep Nedia downstairs for 2 sets of bed sheets and pillow cases since the old ones not old had hair but stains and other unknown debris. Now, I know this has been a normal occurrence for things to be different since our world changing event, but the fact that people refuse to effectively do their job and the seemingly only worker at the establishment Nedia explained most of the staff called out for the holiday, just shows the horrendous level of care and effort for any place that expects you to pay money for a service. If people are going to call out and leave the establishment without doing the job, they should have enough staff to maintain the level of service they claim to offer. Worst stay at a hotel I've ever experienced. They need new staff that will work when they are scheduled instead of biting the bullet assuming people will pay to keep that disgusting place open. We are traveling and stopped here without a reservation. We could not be happier! The rooms are clean and large, the hallways and lobby are clean and bright, there is a pool, an exercise room, a computer area, and a fantastic breakfast! We had our choice of bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, pre made egg white omelettes, hot cinnamon rolls, cereal, bagels, English muffins, make your own pancakes, and probably plenty more that I didn't even have time to see. I stayed at the Florence Civic Ctr Holiday Inn while driving to Florida for Christmas. It was dark and pouring down rain hard when I arrived. The last hour of driving had been difficult. Cars were pulled off at the side of the road for miles. I was glad to get to the hotel. The gal at the desk who checked me in was very nice. The lobby was exceptionally well decorated for the holiday which I appreciated as it made me feel warm and fuzzy, as I was traveling alone at that time of year. As they are in every Holiday Inn, the room was clean and well kept. All I needed was a meal and I went out to the local Chilis. Then I took a hot shower and craved sleep. The bed was very comfortable. The next morning I had another long drive ahead of me and needed a good breakfast. Of course the eggs are instant, which I expected, but they were hot and well made. Everything else was terrific, especially the grits and the bacon. I had several cups of coffee. Then I hit the road again. read more

After a very long drive from Orlando, I decided to stay here for the night. During the middle of the night, I heard little dogs yelping all night long so my rest was broken. Being the only show in town, they feel they can charge exuberant prices for very average hotel services. Just stay on Florence if you have to stay close, as you will pay less for the same thing. We had to stay in two different rooms over two nights and the amateur staff even had a difficult time with that as they put us in smoking and single rooms instead and also told us the wrong room number.
