Checked out the toilet which must be for kids or short people. There are no grab bars to assist it getting up. Turns out this room is for hearing impaired disability. I go to take a shower before meeting family for dinner. I notice I'm ankle deep in water. The tub is not draining. I unscrewed the drain cap hoping it would help. It did not. I reached down and pulled a gawd awful mess out of the drain. Something was at least 12 inches long. Also a little bag with writing came out. Called front desk asking for a manager. None on duty. I requested someone come down right away to see this mess. Front desk clerk and a maintenance man arrived. Desk clerk said I should have called for maintenance. Tough to do in the middle of the shower. I asked for a reduction in price. She couldn't do that but would give me points. Received an email stating I got 2500 pts. Later I call the Marriott 800 number and registered a complaint. He couldn't change the price but gave me an additional 2500 points. Got a case number and was told management would contact me. Will attempt to attach a photo.

Just not the standard that Hilton should be.

I would actually give it 5 stars because it was clean, quiet, accessible parking and very comfortable however, a big MISS is lack of a coffee carafe for guests downstairs. They have two average size Krups coffee machines. Even Holiday Inn and less expensive hotels, offer 1/2 & 1/2 or milk, and you can fill your cup from a big coffee carafe. You will spend at least five minutes, peeling back your coffee-mate creamer, and getting your coffee brewed and that's if there isn't a line. If you do stay at any of the Cambria hotels, plan ahead to stop at your local coffee joint .

Saying all that I would never stay there again. The tv in living room did not work, the thermostat in living room did not work, no hot water from shower, and very weak water pressure. Also the elevator kept trapping us inside, and the hallways were disgusting with trash. The final thing I hated was the breakfast so called hot food was not up to proper temperature. Everything was clean, and the overall space felt fresh and well-kept. Giovanni at the front desk was very helpful and polite, which made check-in smooth and pleasant. I was in town for graduation, so the hotel was a bit busy, but it never felt overwhelming. Our event was held in the banquet hall on the third floor, which was a convenient setup. The Starbucks in the lobby was also a great touch. Quick, and efficient service with good coffee for breakfast on the go. If you're in Hartford and want to be close to the convention center, this Marriott is a perfect spot. Comfortable stay, great service, and an excellent location.

Friendly front desk, prompt housekeeping, clean rooms and reasonable food options. The big negative is the parking. It was a huge fiasco to find parking in the adjacent garage. I made it happen but after a pretty lengthy search for a spot up on the 8th level. But I will say the overnight cost of $19 is reasonable for self park but will definitely pay the additional cost for valet if there's a next time. Nice centrally located hotel near lots of great restaurants and connected to the convention center.

Title: The Bath Tub…read more If I could, I'd give this place 2 stars for customer service and 3 stars overall -- and that's only because it was clean. The room was large, the beds were comfortable, and it was quiet and tidy -- perfect for one night with my mom. Now for the reason I titled this "The Bath Tub." I went out of my way to find an IHG hotel with a bathtub, because I really wanted to take a bath (I haven't been able to at home lately). I even called ahead and spoke with Fred, who was super nice and confirmed that my specific room had a tub. When I checked in, I asked if the room had a coffee maker. The manager/owner said, "I don't know, some rooms do and some don't," which didn't inspire confidence -- but thankfully ours did. Later that night, I went to take my bath, and the tub stopper didn't work -- the rubber was worn off. I called the front desk just so she could make a note, not expecting it to be fixed that night. The next morning, breakfast was typical for this brand -- okay, not great, but plenty to choose from, and the breakfast staff were friendly and helpful. After breakfast, I told the front desk again that the stopper was broken. I asked, "What will you do?" She said, "Maintenance will fix it." I said, "I mean in terms of customer service -- hello, a sorry, maybe some points, something." She just stared at me, so I said, "Never mind." A little later, Manny from maintenance came up, checked it, and was wonderful -- kind, understanding, and genuinely cared that I'd paid for something I didn't receive. Manny got it -- he should be in charge of customer service. I only mention names when I have something positive to say -- thank you, Fred and Manny, for doing your jobs with kindness and respect.

I booked for one night since I would be at the (almost) end of driving after a long-distance move…read moreand thought this would be a good way to sleep so I could wake up early and get the last 120 miles of the trip in. I stay - on average - 20-25 nights per year at Residence Inns and am rarely disappointed, but this was really exceptional in terms of bad: I originally thought I would arrive around 9pm, but called around dinnertime to say I would still be there but it might be closer to 11pm (this was actually the most pleasant interaction as the woman who answered the phone was very nice). My 325 mile trip wound up taking almost 10.5 hours, so you can imagine how tired I was when I arrived at the hotel just before 2am, right? Unfortunately for me, the night auditor doesn't understand much. First he asked if I had a reservation? I cannot stand that question, isn't it obvious at 2am on a weekday, I'm tired and have luggage?? Then he told me all about the "no party" policy and had me read/sign a consent form (I just signed, I have no idea what it said). Then he gave me a key and said I was all set, but I told him I couldn't be because I needed to give him my new credit card. He INSISTED that the credit card was in the reservation; well, technically "A" credit card was in the reservation, but that was connected to my Marriott profile and had been in there for years. Someone stole my card a few weeks prior, so there was absolutely no way that card would authorize for the stay. He insisted it would. I insisted it wouldn't. Was the room any better?? No, it smelled as though I was the first person to be in there in months - an odd combination of mildew and some random odor - which was less than desirable but I was tired and couldn't imagine dealing with the night auditor again. The bed was awful - no idea how old the mattress was, but it was definitely lumpy and everytime I moved the slightest bit, it creaked. Thank God I was on the first floor otherwise the people below me would have thought it was a wild party in that bedroom. The icing on the cake was the bathroom (pictures attached), see that gross tub and wall/floor behind the toilet? Maybe housekeeping thinks no one will notice, but how could anyone NOT notice?? And all of the dirt/dust on the closet door tracks?? Gross. I left at 8am, thrilled to have had almost no sleep and a nasty shower but so glad to be gone! Unfortunately I did not receive a survey from Marriott 48 hours later, and when I emailed Jim Marcil (the GM) directly, he never replied. NEVER. REPLIED. He is also the GM of the Courtyard across the street, so I have crossed that off my list and you should as well.

There is a lot of space on the ground floor, large enough to host simultaneous events, plus plenty of smaller conference rooms and salons. It seems to be a very good place to hold an event. The heated pool was clean, and the exercise room was of a decent size. I wasn't quite so impressed as a guest staying here for the weekend. While some of the room upgrades are very nice (like the bathroom), this is one of those newer-styled renovations where you say "bye bye" to things like a dresser or a bathroom door, in favor of pull-out shelves and a sliding door. While the thermostat was definitely a more ancient digital one, it provided better climate control than many other higher-tech thermostats in other hotel rooms in which I've stayed. Eating here is a choice. The restaurant and bar area is nice, but food is expensive. I went out for breakfast, but I did scan the area for breakfast. The breakfast buffet is around $24. One friend also staying at the hotel for same event I attended reported that the amount and quality of the breakfast buffet food did not justify the price. He was also disappointed that while having Marriott Bonvoy Gold status, this was the first time in many years that he was required to pay full price for a breakfast at a Marriott. I also recalled watching a hostess, talking to a family of four experiencing sticker shock over the cost of the breakfast, explain to these guests how to get to the nearest Dunkins. There are several hotels in the immediate area, and I've stayed at some of the other ones, most recently the Hilton across the street. While the Hilton's pool and exercise rooms were closed, food was more reasonably priced. If you're going to stay in the area, do some research to determine which hotel will offer services more to your liking.

I want to give a special shoutout to Barbara who truly made me feel at home. She was warm, friendly, and went out of her way to connect with me including sharing that she has family in Southern California where I am from. Charles the shuttle driver was also incredibly sweet and kind and made transportation pleasant throughout my stay. There was only one area where improvement is needed. While most of the staff was friendly and attentive my experience with Pico the shuttle driver who worked until 11 PM was disappointing. I would not describe him as rude but he appeared uninterested in engaging with guests and lacked basic customer service manners. When greeted he did not respond. When asked simple questions such as how he was doing or about Connecticut he remained silent. His body language felt cold and unwelcoming which is not ideal for a role that involves interacting with tourists and hotel guests. Additionally, he expressed frustration in front of me to the concierge about having to drop off two groups at different locations even though the shuttle operates within a five mile radius. This gave the impression that he did not want to perform his job responsibilities. This was not an isolated incident as this behavior was consistent during all three days we encountered him. I believe this could be improved by having a conversation with him about the level of customer experience expected in his role and encouraging or recognizing efforts to provide basic hospitality

I needed different pillows when I arrived and said it was no hurry since I was headed out shortly, but housekeeping brought them right away. I need to spend another night in the Hartford area in a couple of weeks, this one is not the most convenient to where I am headed, but I will probably stay again due to the great experience and free parking (some of the hotels in Manchester are charging for parking, and that is a big NO for me!).
