Recently stayed at this location and had a terrible experience due to the lack of hospitality, customer service and overall lack of courtesy due to the GM - Dawn Ryan. Have stayed here many times before on work trips and have never experienced the level of disrespect over the past few days during my stay (which felt targeted due to my ethnicity). Please be mindful of providing your credit card number over the phone. As I was checking in, there were SEVERAL invoices with customers (full) credit card numbers in plain sight of patrons checking in. Made mention, and the GM seemed annoyed that I questioned her on it. I am extremely disappointed and disgusted on the service I have received. I book a night a month ahead. I drove 16 hours to get there and they proceeded to tell me that they overbooked and I can't stay there. I booked a MONTH AHEAD!!! When I told them I drove 16 hours and am exhausted and want something done. They continued to tell me that there was nothing they could do. I started to get frustrated and extremely upset. The "manager " tells me to wait a minute while she makes a call. She then calls me back over to the front desk and says that their sister property "Quality Inn" can match my price and to go there. I looked at the reviews for Quality Inn and they were bad, such as bed bugs. Holiday Inn Express Worcester's sister property my **s. They were rude and didn't care what happened to me for the night. If there was less than one star I would choose that. This was awful. The staff was nice but the hotel was super run down, lots of broken items, loud (both outside traffic, drunk people in the hallway and other people just being normal in their rooms - so noisy not to menting the flushing toilets) My heater was not working properly and kept over heading the room, I turned it to off and it seemed to have some override and it would start loudly heating up again all over. There was bucket catching water under my sink. The food was not edible. Eggs tasted like chemicals, coffee awful. So overpriced. read more

Awful place to stay. We booked two rooms with 2 queen beds for 4 guests. When we arrived they told us we were "upgraded" to king bed rooms, meaning 2 of the guests had to sleep on roll in cots. Shortly after arriving we noticed the heat in one of our rooms was broken and the room was incredibly hot. We came inside after bringing the rest of our belongings in to find the hallway and room next to ours filled with smoke and the guest staying in that room fanning what he believed to be was a fire. No smoke detectors went off because none of them work, and the woman working at the front desk was not even sure of what to do during the situation. We called 911 while collecting our belongings and waited outside for the fire department to arrive, all while no alarms were going off. The fire fighters informed us there was a heater malfunction that caused the unit to melt causing the toxic smoke, and also that none of the fire alarms in the building were working properly, which we already knew considering the one in our room was hanging off the wall. After the situation occurred the guest who booked the rooms called the corporate office requesting a full refund in which she was promised multiple times, only for the GM to later call her a lair, lied about coming to the hotel to speak with us, hung up on my friend twice, and told us "it wasnt even a real fire". We attempted to find a different hotel to spend the night in considering this one was unsafe, but everywhere else was booked and we had no option but to put all 4 adults in one room to avoid smelling melted plastic all night. The GM of this hotel is incredibly hostile and lacks the ability to admit they were at fault during this situation. The entire experience was awful and i would highly recommend never staying here because your safety is not a priority by any means. read more

Nice enough hotel- maybe a bit outdated but no complaints! Everything was clean which is the most important thing! Coffee and grab and go breakfast only included yogurt and oranges which was a bit of a let down but no one stays at a hotel for the free breakfast! I contacted management concerning the American Flag which is in pitiful shape. It is faded, tattered. I told them that a bare poke was better than this flag. I served in the military for 26 years. It is disrespectful of our nation and all who serve have served and sacrificed. They can't say they didn't know it needed to be changed because I told them it needed to be changed. We booked our stay back in July for this weekend and when we arrived it was a dump. The hallways were covered in filth. Our room looked destroyed, the tv was hanging off the mount, the fire alarm was hanging off the wall. The walls in the bathroom were covered with white filth, with mold in the shower caulking. The bedskirts had stains on them. The pillows had makeup stains and hair on them and in them. The furniture was damaged. Do not waste your money here. We were there a total of two hours until we couldn't stand the disarray. We packed our things and brought it to the car and went to the front desk to tell them we are unpleased and will not be staying the night. The front desk worker said we had been here for longer than 4 hours which is our allowed time for a refund. When he checked again and realized we had not actually been there for 4 hours, his refund time then changed to 2 hours. He then said we had 15 mins upon entering our room and complaining to get a refund. He said he will not honor a refund nor his manager and we can contact the head manager on Monday. This place is not worth your time. I will continue to write reviews and contact higher branches until this is resolved. Do not waste your money here you will not get what the pictures online show you. Left a voicemail with the hotel manager and she has yet to respond. I have since read more reviews saying it is possibly a homeless shelter hotel which was never disclosed. This is totally unexceptable at over $300 a night and to have not been reached out to for a refund or a heavy discount since none of this was disclosed beforehand and we refused to stay the night under these conditions. read more

I'll start by saying that the staff were very friendly and helpful. The hotel is decently nice, but my room specifically could use some work. The lampshade on my bedside lamp was completely broken and would not stay upright. There was also a pile of loose wires underneath the TV stand. The rooms have high ceilings, which is actually pretty nice, but it can make adjusting the curtains quite difficult. Toiletries were a little bare (1 shampoo bottle and 2 lotion bottles for some reason). Vending machine was also out of bottled water and I would not drink tap water in Worcester. However, the location is decent as it's right in the middle of downtown. read more

First they give us a bunch of dead keys and then apparently just kept trying to rent the room out to other people as evident by a guy who showed up to our door around midnight saying it was his room (it had been ours all that day and through the night) and then again in the morning a guy that seemed more like a manager showed up around 9am questioning is about the room in which I had to turn him over to the guy that booked it (who wasn't with us). It was also filled with weird tweaker people walking around and being super sketchy in all areas of the hotel. When told about them to the front desk they stood up for them saying "these are paying customers!" Cool, well your beloved customer was just violently hacking into a trash can acting super weird just a few feet from the breakfast lol. I'm surprised at the negative reviews, so much so that I wonder if we stayed at the same place. The bonuses: Free parking, Free breakfast, no "resort fee," close to downtown (which is very nice and well-lit at night with a lot of activity). Room was super clean, neat, cooled down when I got there, had a coffee maker, comfy bed, with 4 pillows. Complimentary breakfast was awesome: pancakes, toast, eggs, bacon, sausage, yogurt, fruit, coffee, bagels, cereals and oatmeal. I don't know what else you would need for breakfast. Front staff was cool. Lobby was welcoming and neat and clean, no issues with the room. Parking lot was well-lit. I didn't give 5 stars bc nothing is perfect but I'd stay there again. I prob saved $30 for breakfast, 60 for resort fee, just as much for two days parking. Less than 10 min walk to DT, lot's of restaurants, breweries, bars, etc. (ok, I coulda done without the loud personal calls by one employee in the lobby, as well as Friday night teens that are giggly and inconsiderate door-slammers but that's on the parents) read more

This hotel has the worst customer service and do not care about the people who pay $200+ to stay at their hotel, if you even want to call it that. I have stayed at this hotel multiple times and EVERY SINGLE time there is some kind of issue, or they are trying to charge you extra for things you did not do, and the most recent was canceling my reservation and never contacting me to let me know, and never removing the charge from my credit card and getting blown off when I question it. What kind of place are they running?! I wouldn't even have known my reservation was canceled if I didn't have a hunch today to call and see if everything was all set for my husbands birthday trip. The woman told me my reservation had been canceled on August 27th (it was placed on August 9th), I was never informed, they still have my money, and now I have 5days to try to get a refund and find another hotel and I'm told shes sorry "but it's not her problem". No compassion, no understanding, and nothing but attitude! I should have known better than to even try to give them my business again. Please do yourselves a favor and steer clear of this place, it's not worth the headache, the money you lose and the hoops you have to go through, and that's not even including how poorly the rooms are kept. read more

The room was clean and inexpensive but could use a remodel. The bed was comfortable. Just basic amenities. I didn't like that you couldn't change the thermostat off of 72 degrees. We used this hotel for our wedding guests, half of whom flew in from Europe and don't speak English. We had a total of something like 45 rooms, dominating half the hotel - Marie, Elizabeth, and all of the staff could not have been more amazing handling us all! They were in great communication throughout all the planning; helped expand the block (repeatedly!) when more guests booked than we thought, they provided us with updated rosters/bookings along the way, they asked all the right questions to make sure they were 100% prepped and ready for our weekend. They repeatedly asked if there were any other special requests we might have, and they stood at the ready to accommodate. Our block rate was reasonable, includes the free breakfast, free parking, and free wifi, which is a huge bonus. All the rooms had fridges, which is again a huge bonus, especially for our european travelers who aren't quite as used to eating out as often as we do. They were flexible on check-in times for us and our guests, too. For the cutest touches, Marie and Elizabeth bought us bride and groom cupcakes from Sweet, as well as champagne and chocolates on the night of the wedding, with a personalized note. Truly, it was such a wonderful experience, we would 100% recommend them! read more

We stayed 1 night while attending a concert at the DUC center. Location to the center was awesome very short walk. The front desk clerk at check in was not very friendly. But every other one was very nice. The room we stayed in was clean and very comfortable. I had 2 main problems with the stay. 1 the hotel had no control over. That was approximately 1am there was people throwing very larger items in a dumpster at Starbucks. This lasted about 1 to 1 1/2 hours. They were extremely loud. 2 the curtains did not fit the windows in the room. This was a 2 room suite and when the sun came up so did we. It was like someone shined a spotlight in the room. This is more like a Motel 6. It is rather dirty and the linen appears threadbare. Got stuck in a first floor room and not only do I hear the traffic outside but the curtains are insufficient to block out the lights. After a long day of traveling, this is a huge disappointment. The lobby looks like you are walking into a facility that needs a face lift and is well beyond her prime. This place is only good for a quick overnight stay. It is quite depressing. This is a relic of the Holiday Inns of yesteryear when you wouldn't even think of making a reservation and would certainly opt for brands that are more up to date. Never again would I stay here. My company booked this room and I hope they are not paying more than $79 nightly. Any more than that is robbery. Women in particular should avoid this hotel. read more

We arrived and checked in with Destiny. She was friendly, pleasant and helpful. The room was clean and comfortable. When we woke up in the morning, there was a slight issue with our room. I went to the front desk to let them know. I spoke with Clarabelle and was not even expecting anything in return. I just wanted to let them know about the situation. She handled it so professionally. We were refunded for the night! I was so impressed with the way they handled the situation. Also, the breakfast that is included with the stay is AMAZING! We will definitely stay here again when we are in the area. Edited to add that they were very accommodating with us parking our 26 ft travel trailer in their parking lot. They even allowed us to detach it from the truck so we could go eat without it. The wifi was great too and the room included a refrigerator. read more

I was quickly reminded the reason(s) I have not stayed at a holiday inn in a long time. For starters upon entry into the room everything seemed gross and not fresh at all. Towels and bedsheets probably used for the 3 previous guests before myself. Bathroom was tiny and showing bits of mold above the shower ..... however they did have bed and bath soaps (which surprised me). Second I called the front desk asking for a directory of possible eateries or hotel friendly delivery places to be told, " you can come down to the lobby to get some" - like wait a minute, I thought I was staying at a hotel and someone was supposed to bring me up stuff .... apparently that is not the case. Next; the hotel had a bunch of college kids staying in the hotel for some sports meet (I imagine) - I really struggled with this. I didn't want to be "that guy" calling to complain about kids being kids but this was just going on for too long... after 3 calls to the front desk and the front desk telling me "they tried calling" I gave up put on my tv on loud and just eventually passed out. The next morning with little sleep and a late flight I decided to extend my stay one entire day (even though I was I lay going to be using the room for a few hours and they didn't provide a late check out) - on my way downstairs to my rental car was told that I cannot smoke inside the premises.... I DONT SMOKE - I was so upset after the comment from the room service manager and after a call from some rude mid-trained manager downstairs- I grab my shit and left and ended up killing time at a bar in the airport. I needed to stay a night in Worcester and ended up staying here because it was one of the more affordable options in the area. Honestly I wasn't expecting much but the staff there is so accommodating. Firstly, my friend forgot her toothbrush and the front desk provided one for her. Secondly, I needed to check out a little later than their 11AM check out time and they allowed me to checkout at 1PM. Thirdly, I reserved a 2 double bed room for 4 people and the front desk upgraded to a 2 queen sized bed room for us, which was really nice of them. And lastly, the free breakfast is great. There was a wide variety from turkey sausage and bacon, eggs, to cinnamon buns and pancakes. There was also oatmeal and yogurts available as well as coffee and teas both in the lobby 24/7 and at breakfast. If I ever need to stay in Worcester again, I will definitely stay here! read more

I needed to complete and send a rental application for housing ASAP. I went to the computer room, which had 2 computers - one printer at each. The printer connected to one computer did not work. The other printer, which was not on or connected to the computer, was useless to me because Microsoft Office Word was not activated and I needed to print a Word document. The woman who helped me said I could email it from the first computer, so she could print it out at the front desk. I didn't know whose email address she used, but it was fine - I got my papers. Then there was a shift change and the next time I needed to print something, I had to explain the situation to a different woman at the front desk. She was confused about which email address it was, but it was fine - I got my papers again. However, I needed to either scan or fax them to the realtor. They did not have any scanners in the computer room or a viable scanner at the front desk. The woman who was confused earlier was slightly annoyed at this point, when I asked her to please fax the papers. She tried to fax them. I was informed later by the realtor they he never received a fax. I went back down to the front desk to ask her to try again. At this point, she was clearly annoyed. She stopped asking if I needed anything mid-question when she looked up and realized it was me. A man also at the front desk this time helped her try to fax the papers again. The man was very helpful and asked whether the realtor had received the fax or not. I realize that it was inconvenient for them to print and fax for a customer, as well as themselves, at the front desk. However, the printers did not work and there was no scanner in the computer room, so I had no other choice. I just wish the woman realized that and did not make me feel bad for asking her to handle my paperwork. Both printers should work and both computers should have Office activated. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone that handles business and deals with paperwork. Also, the bathroom lock in my room did not work. read more

We were attending a wedding in the area and decided to stay overnight at this hotel rather than driving 2 hours to get home. We would never recommend anyone staying here. Two people were checking in 2 guests when we got there. One guest taken care of yet the woman behind the desk acted like we were not there. That's ok. We waited for the man behind the desk to finish and check us in. We were assigned a room on the second floor right next to where breakfast would be served in the morning. Since we were pressed for time to change and get to the wedding we decided to stay in the assigned room. Big mistake. The room seemed stuffy and warm even though the loud air conditioner was on, the tv was crooked and there was an unattached wire hanging from the bottom and the bathroom door didn't close. Hmmm. Don't think so. Called down to the front desk and asked to be moved. After being put on hold a woman came on the phone, didn't identify herself, and asked what the problem was. This isn't rocket science- the man who answered the phone couldn't see if there was another room available?? And she rudely asked if we used anything in the room. The room was changed thankfully. This one at least had a bathroom door that shut and a tv that looked connected. The air conditioning unit sounded like an 18 wheeler going down the highway and the bathroom sink took forever to drain. Come on Holiday Inn - fix your problems!! read more

I've stayed at this hotel before and had great service. However, this time 10-18-14 at 2:00 PM, we had the front desk attendant from Hell. She had an extremely poor attitude from the get go. She argued with me for 5 minutes that I did not have a reservation, despite the fact that I had a confirmation number. The long and short of it was that she was spelling my name incorrectly. She never apologized or even cracked a smile. Her demeanor was unbelievable for someone in the service industry. Normally, you put the person with the best people skills at the entrance to your business. If she was the best they'll never have to worry about me returning. read more
