I absolutely love Holiday Market. We used to be Whole Foods shoppers when we lived closer to town, and I was really worried we would not be able to get the high quality, organic, gluten-free food we tend to eat. I was very pleasantly surprised to find the excellent selection at Holiday Market in this teeny little town. Plus: you don't have to deal with the Whole Food Hipsters. ;) The prices are very reasonable, especially for someone used to shopping at natural food stores. I've never run into an employee of Holiday Market that was rude or unfriendly in any way. They go out of their way to help and to be pleasant. In fact, the one time that I purchased a product that was less than superior (some milk that had curdled) I called the store and said, "I don't have my receipt, but is there anything you can do?" They immediately said not to worry about the receipt, to come in with the empty carton, and they'd give me either a refund, a new one, or credit. Holiday Market is a delightful find in a small remote area! I strongly recommend it. read more

This is an ok store, great to pick up some essential items when in the Sierra Foothills. Perk - the availability of the store location is a gas saver. Especially, love that the store exists on those holidays when preparing meals. Pluses: 1. store hours, 2. basic stock covers many household needs, 3. the reward cards program, 4. store is always clean, except produce section sometimes, 5. day time staff is always friendly/helpful/attentive, 6. premade coffee is available, 7. they have a movie kiosk inside, 8. prices are pretty good, 9. I love the small shopping cart. 10. they have beef bones in the frozen section - perfect for my dog. 11. wild caught fish - from the U.S., 12. Hormone/antibotic free chicken, but it is expensive. Negatives: Customer service is not often friendly during the last shopping hour, especially towards younger family members/guests. 1. no 100% grass-fed meats. Ground beef, but no other beef cuts. No hormone/antibiotic free beef cuts, either. At least not when I have shopped. I stop in weekly. This makes up 45% of my shopping - at other stores, not the holiday. 2. they tend to mostly sell out-of-country imported vegetables and the organic section is almost non-existent. Buying any fruits or vegetables at the Holiday is hit or miss, even with in season items. They often do not have seasonal basics. Produce is not always fresh. I have often seen decaying produce. This makes up 45% of my shopping - at other stores, not the holiday. 3. Requesting store items is difficult. Example, I requested Strauss Heavy Cream ( NO additives - specifically no Carrageenan) for my coffee. Pure delicious cream GMO Free and doesn't upset my stomach. I was told their distributer does not carry Strauss Heavy Cream. The distributer carries the ice cream stocked by Holiday, I am confused why same distributor does not carry the heavy whipping cream. I can never find an additive free whipping cream when shopping at Holiday and was told to buy the carrageenan additive product. No thanks, Raley's and the Nugget carry Strauss heavy whipping cream and ice cream. And both stores have guar gum free canned coconut milk, too, but not the Holiday. 4. They are a bit on the small side for product/brand variety. But this is a smaller store. 5. The hot prepared foods are not the tasiest. Stop outsourcing U.S. growers. We live in a farming area, local sustainable produce surrounds us, but the Holiday is most often importing produce from Mexico. Only summer yields local produce and little of it. Today, nearly 100% of the produce was Mexico imports. Not favorable of non U.S. farming practices for health reasons and I will not buy products not grown in the U.S. The Holiday would like us to financially support them, I would like to see the Holiday extend that economical support in terms of local growers. Stop outsourcing our growers to another country that have questionable growing practices. Holiday is a store that often announces/advertises to customers if a product is local and seems to pride themselves on selecting local products. However, these are mostly processed foods. Let's get some more local produce for all seasons. Holiday is not the local source or Whole Food type store it wants to be, but it could be. read more

Very nice staff. There is a video rental box in the store and the prices are OK. Not great but for a remote grocery store they are reasonable. It has the small town feel. It also has the smaller town speed too. You have to get used to that if you are from the Bay Area. The meat deals are a must look if you visit here often since there is a small discount section. I enjoy shopping here but have an alternative store or two for bulk items that I get for less cash. read more

Most employees seem to hate their job and hate the fact that your there shopping. Employee moral seems very low. If you go up the hill to Georgetown's store Mar val the employees always seem happy and polite and get you through the line quickly. Trying to buy a few items at this Holiday market in cool can be a frustrating experience even during a slow time of day, just forget it if the store is busy you'll be in line a long time. The deli food is hit and miss, one day the fried chicken will be great the next its dried out and overcooked beyond my ability to choke it down. Order a sandwich, and 1 in 5 times the will manage to put the same stuff you filled out on the order sheet they provide. Bottom line do not go here if you want quick friendly service. If the management takes one thing from my review for gods sake hire some employees that actually want to be there and will put in a little hustle! I'm so bummed out and annoyed with the lazy apathetic employees that I spend the rest of the day mouping around like they do around the store read more

I was passing through Cool recently and made a stop at Holiday Market for a sandwich, I was super hungry and crabby!! I do not expect much as far as customer service anywhere these days so I was very pleased to find a place that makes customer service a priority!! I was helped by April in the deli, she was quick, got my very picky order right the first time (very rare lol), she was very friendly and even helped me with directions!! I was in a much better mood when I left and had one great sandwich!! Thank you April!! read more

I have lived in Georgetown for over 10 yrs, so I shop here often. Lovely store, bright and neat. Employees are helpful and kind. Food is great. Love the organic options. My only complaint would be the produce which is only fresh on occasion. The potatoes are always old and rubbery. The apples are warm and soft. We only see it fresh around once per month when they finally get new ones! Needs cooler produce dept with better A/C and this area needs to be cleaned where to rotten veges and fruits are bad. and the salad dressing refrigerator is not cold enough. I can't buy it there. Not fit for consumption these things I mentioned (possible bacteria) Everything else is A+ awesome. Just wish they could focus on carrying fresh produce and more of it. They mostly need a produce person to check all the produce and make sure to throw away the rotten stuff, not just leave it there, and order more variety and more produce weekly or more often. It would sell fast if it were only fresh! I would buy it all! Great store otherwise. Also we have had recent bad experience from one cashier who seems unhappy or angry. We have ignored it but it happened again last week her dirty looks at myself and my two young children. This clerk is somewhat young, white, around 25-35 yrs old with long brown hair with tattoo covering her right arm and always frowning or mad looking. We ignore it and choose a different line to avoid the bad vibes she gives. She seems depressed or must hate her job. All other employees their are very helpful and kind, so we figure its not anyone's fault, just the clerks problem or perhaps they need to make sure to hire happier sane people. I still love this store and hope they improve the produce! The management seems to do a great job with everything else! Thank you for being here in the mountains! Bummer about Sommer V' experience . I come to Cool a couple times a year for business and always stop at Holiday for their awesome deli sandwiches. They stopped making their panini's but Donna in the deli offered to make me one. The whole store was friendly and totally accommodating. I'll be back!!!!! read more

This store has absolutely horrible staff. So rude. I've shopped here multiple times and there's always one employee who is rude. I once came in with my mom and this older lady treated us like we were a bunch of low life's, she rang up our groceries while giving us dirty looks, Once she finished she literally took our bag of groceries and threw them until they smacked against the end of the counter. I will wait in another line just to avoid this lady. She has horrible customer service. I work in retail and that is just not okay. It hasn't just been that once, every time I go through her line she acts like that. For such an expensive store you would think they would strive for better customer service read more
