This cake is the picture of what we sent only we didn't want the top put on.

We sent a picture of a Nightmare before Christmas baby shower cake. They duplicated it exactly like the picture..I couldn't believe what a perfect replica. It was a yellow cake on the bottom that was moist and tasty. The fondant was not too much and tasted good. The top layer was chocolate but we cannot comment on that because the mom to be, took it home to 'celebrate' with immediate family the day the baby comes home. I would definitely use this bakery again.

This is my go to for special occasions. The cakes and cupcakes are always perfectly baked! They made my daughter a gorgeous unicorn birthday cake with raspberry filling and everyone raved over it. The almond cake pops are also crazy good.

Not overly remarkable cake. It was dry, the filling was t great. We ordered a cake with strawberry filling and I expected some sort of homemade strawberry filling but it was like the strawberry gel stuff you get out of a bag. Like what you can get at the grocery store for strawberry shortcake. It also was only in the center of the cake, so we missed cut in an entire row of cake before we hit filling. The other cake we ordered was supposed to be chocolate but when we cut into it the cake was almond flavor. Again the flavoring inside was only in the very center (chocolate Bavarian cream) and was absolutely flavorless. We ate it because it's cake and that's symbolic after all, but I won't go there again.

I try cupcakes all over the place (I love cupcakes), so here is my review on Holland Cakery 'n' Sweets.... The cake is moist & has a light crumb. The frosting is decent, but a complaint I have is that they like to put the colored sugar on almost EVERY cupcake and I personally hate the sugar and would prefer not to have it on my cupcake at all. The pricing is TOO expensive! Their other treats are too expensive as well. I have tried a dozen of their different flavors and wish they would offer their flavors without the sugar too. The cupcakes are regular size, I can get a jumbo gourmet cupcake for the same price as their basic cupcakes if not cheaper else where (they have different prices for their cupcakes which I hate too!).

We stopped here while on vacation and picked up a handful of cupcakes for my daughters birthday. They were just ok. They looked nice, but the cake and the frosting did not compliment each other, so it just seemed like a bunch of frosting on top of a muffin. I had the vanilla cupcake with bavarian cream filling. I would say that the flavor probably matches the conservative nature of this town. Overall the service was good, the packaging was nice, and the store was nice and clean.

I started going to the Holland Cakery about a year ago and I will continue to use them for every special occasion! They cater to our every need and customize every cake exactly how we want it! Don't let me forget to say that every cake always tastes fantastic! Disregard any negative reviews this place is great!

Almond layer cake with mocha whipped cream layer & frosting & a dark chocolate ganache. Phenomenal!

I found a few long grey hairs in a cake I bought, the owner was reluctant to give me a refund.

I drove up and loved the spacious parking lot. Walking in, the bakery was well lit and clean, and a bit overwhelming. They had so many kinds of baked goods, including some Dutch specialties like banket. (I honestly have no idea what that is but I know it's a Dutch pastry.) You can order 2, 3, 5, or 12 tenders at a time, and you can get them as a combo (with fries and a drink) or just by themselves. I opted for two tenders, one plain and one with original dry rub which is kind of like a ranch flavor. I also ordered a Diet Coke. The food didn't take too long to come out, and the tenders were hefty and super crispy. I liked the dry rub, but I think I'd just go with plain next time because they have the most delicious honey mustard. The Diet Coke was also super crispy and this was such a nice snack. They also have a menu of breakfast options like egg sandwiches, bagels, avocado toast, etc. The lunch menu is rounded out with salads, sandwiches, and mac and cheese. If I lived nearby I think I'd be a regular here!

Bowerman's on 8th is a love letter to the humble blueberry, written in the language of warm lattes, fresh pastries, and shelves overflowing with jars that seem to bottle summer itself. As someone with a dairy allergy, coffee shops can sometimes feel like places built for everyone else. But here there was kindness in the details--different milk options, thoughtful choices, and the feeling that everyone should be able to enjoy a good cup of coffee. Traveling from out of state, this was one of the places I circled on my map, hoping reality would match the stories. Somehow, it was even better. The blueberry latte was the kind of drink that slows time. Bright and refreshing, sweet without trying too hard, tasting like a morning walk through a Michigan orchard after the rain. Around me were cases filled with treats and shelves stacked with jams, syrups, and every blueberry creation imaginable, each one carrying a little piece of the region's soul. There is something beautiful about a place that chooses one simple thing and perfects it. Bowerman's does not merely sell coffee--it celebrates harvests, local traditions, and the quiet joy of gathering around a table. You leave with a warm cup in your hands, a bag of blueberry treasures under your arm and a feeling of satisfaction. Some places are worth the drive. Some are worth the hype. Bowerman's on 8th is both.

We then ordered 6 large sheet cakes to be cut and served to our 300 guests. Our caterer pointed out the cake was not deliverd yet, at 30 minutes before ceremony. We had to call to get the cake delivered and it was all wrong....it was a styrofoam cake with buttercream frosting that was melting off in the July heat at our outside garden wedding and reception. We were also shorted one entire sheet cake. We met with Marcia 3 times to get what we wanted and gave her pictures. Luckily, we also had Ben and Jerry's Ice cream serving at the reception and some guests only had ice cream and no cake because we were shorted one entire sheet cake. We specifially ordered fondant on the styrofoam display cake so it would not melt, my daughter burst into tears with she saw her buttercream icing melting and exposing the forms underneath. Our caterer and photographer tried to fix the appearance for pictures. We had to pay the entire $600 up front and when I tried to contact Marcia after the wedding, she would never take any of my numerous calls. No response from letter I wrote. I should have sued her!
