Cannot get enough of the infused Olivie Oils and salves. Love that I don't have to worry about any of the ingredients that go into it!

I was craving it since home, especially when our days here have been sweltering. I had no idea where to get it locally, so I asked in a local Facebook group. I was turned on to Super Tehran, which is right by Costco. How convenient! The staff member behind the counter so friendly and helpful! Someone in the group mentioned which brand to get, but I could only see a tiny bottle that said Ayran. They had bigger sizes, but it said yogurt instead. The staff member was happy to help, and confirmed it's Ayran and mentioned there's a mint one as well. I also spotted a variety of Labne, and he shared with me which one was his favorite of that as well. The store is petite, but was quite busy with people. There were numerous things I wanted to try, but I had a fussy baby in tow, so we had to get home. I will most definitely be back and can't wait to try more! The store was clean, had a wide variety of products, plus everything was well in date (sometimes, with international stores, you find that the products have expired or are close to expiration, but this was not the case here, at least in the dairy products I was looking at). I'll be back!

This time, though, I wanted to try something different, so I went with the chicken and mushroom filling. It was also very tasty. One thing I really like is that they focus more on the filling, and the bread is not too thick. It always has that slightly greasy goodness in the best way. So yummy. As much as I enjoyed the food, my interaction with the woman working there this time was not great. When I arrived, she was unpacking a box. She saw me but did not greet me or ask if I was ready to order. I stood there awkwardly for a few minutes before she finally asked. It would have been nice to be acknowledged right away. I ordered two different fillings, and when she was packing them, I asked if she could please label them so I would know which one was which. She responded by saying, "I wasn't going to make you guess." I did not find that very friendly. In fact, I thought it was borderline rude. I still really enjoyed the food, but that interaction took away from the overall experience a little bit. I wish the customer service had been a bit warmer.

Every time I walk past Babushka, my brain immediately starts singing "Babushka Babushka Babushka!"…read morelike Kate Bush. I can't help it. The name just demands it. Fortunately, the food inside lives up to the '80's music. This place is a little Eastern-European treasure chest. The meat selection alone is worth the trip: excellent veal sausages, proper kabanosy (both American-made and the legit European imports), and enough smoked and cured options to make you reconsider every bland sandwich you've ever eaten. Then there's the sweets. Not just a few shelves: an impressively deep lineup of Eastern European treats, both loose and packaged. The kind where you walk in thinking you'll grab one thing and leave with three mysterious chocolates and something wrapped in gold foil. It's also my most reliable solution for a sudden Żywiec beer craving. And if that's not the mood, there's always a jar of pickled mushrooms waiting patiently. In short: a small, charming deli that punches way above its size... and yes, I still sing the Kate Bush song every single time I go.
