Expect a bit of a wait, even if your order is small, uncomplicated or if you are the only customer. I usually order 2 koobideh and one chicken with rice and grilled tomato, and it usually takes 25 minutes. The person helping you will tell you how long it will be, and they are accurate. It's a tiny store inside of a rundown strip mall. Blink, and you could miss it. There is a bigger Persian restaurant in the next parking lot, but that's not what this is. This is a small store that has a few groceries and dry goods that is very specific to Persian cooking, a grill in the back, and they offer maybe 5 different things, and they do it well. It's all takeout, so don't expect to eat there unless you do what my partner and I do and bring a tray and eat that outside in our car with no shame and much happiness. They are renowned for their bread. I'm not a bread person, but it's reputed to be the best sangak bread you can get for miles, and it must be true because every time I go (which is only for the grill), there is always someone buying a bunch of fresh bread. The lady has a vibe that...I guess can be interpreted by some as unfriendly? but to me I just feel like front-end of a store does not seem to be her forte but that's small business for ya - she definitely seems to work really hard. I don't go there with any expectations for her personality, and that is fine. The food. It's good. Just go.

Beef and chicken kebab with rice and fresh bread

This is a hidden gem, kebabs were the best I've had in the Bay Area... and the food made fresh, along with the sangkak bread. This will be my new go to spot.

This place is one of the places I go when I'm feeling home sick. They make fresh sangak every day and also kabobs. You can get kale pache as well. Everything taste delicious but you have to take it to go as they don't have any seating areas. But hands down best koobideh in Bay Area!!!

We were looking for a certain baked good and did a search which led us to Aala Yazdi. While they did not have that particular baked good, they had other wonderful goodies! The lady helping us was so nice! They did not have the beef koobideh available yet so we ordered chicken kabobs. We ordered a portion of the sangak bread which was fantastic. Edges were crisp and the middle had a nice chew. It was amazing fresh, so we had to take nibbles while waiting for our chicken kabobs. We also bought sour cherry jam to enjoy with our sangak bread at home. The chicken was delicious. So juicy and flavourful. Will definitely come back - a little later in the morning, so we can try the koobideh and other kabobs. So happy we found this place!

Good place for bread and other things. They have barley bread. Those cup cakes are amazingly fresh. I will come back.

Their sangak was the real draw - a slightly sour, yeasty, soft, fluffy bread, similar to naan.

I don't usually write reviews, but after this experience I felt like I had to…read more I went to this Safeway to buy Orajel for pain relief because I've been dealing with a painful cut on my tongue that was healing slowly. The pain had gotten pretty bad. When I got to the shelf, the product was missing except for a sign that said, "Limited shelf stock, please see customer service." I went to the guest service area and waited patiently since nobody was there. After a few minutes, a woman came out of the office and asked, "Did you need something?" I explained that I was looking for Orajel and the sign directed me there. She responded by saying, "Oh no, this area is closed." Confused, I asked if she could still help me. She said no because she had the safe open in the office and told me I'd have to go to customer service, then went back into the office and shut the door. At that point, I was honestly stunned. I asked another employee nearby taking out the trash where customer service was, and he smirked and said, "That right there," pointing to where I was already standing. Normally I wouldn't make a big deal out of something like this, but I was in a lot of pain and felt like I was just getting the runaround. Thankfully, my girlfriend noticed the Orajel was actually locked behind the counter. Then an employee named Willy, who was working one of the registers, called out and asked if I needed help. Willy came over immediately, helped locate the product, logged into customer service himself, and tried to unlock the case.. but then the key actually broke off in the lock. At that point I was thinking, "You can't make this stuff up." Even after that, Willy still went above and beyond. He used a grabber tool to retrieve the product from the locked case, rang us up, and completely turned the situation around. I'm writing this review because Willy gave me some of the best customer service I've had in a long time after one of the most frustrating experiences I've had at a store. Huge shoutout to Willy! He's the only reason I'd come back to this location.

Came with my kid late night to get necessities, I was in self-checkout and next when the cashier…read moretold me it was closed. We go to the line. We're 4th and the cashier looked new and painfully timid. She was scanning each item and instead of sliding it down to the bagging area was carefully setting each item. I get the idea behind it but it wasn't realistic. I asked another associate if they could call more checkers and he said no. I wish I could remember his name because he said no, I waited 15 minutes only for them to open two lines, Mr. No being one of the people who started checking. You're supposed to take the next person in line and the ppl behind me dispersed like flies. The courtesy is gone these days amongst people, but it was Safeway's job to take the next person in line & not have employees deceive like that. Ms. Timid called for a Service 1(all available checkers to come) a few minutes after I asked. It frustrating to be lied to your face and to wait only for the people behind me to hop in line for two minutes but get checked out before us.
