So cute and the pastries are delicious! I'm not sure if I should tell you because you might clear them out before I get there but- the banana muffins with chocolate are the best tasting, richest flavored tasty nuggets around! Just yum.

Just tried the bahn mi - super tasty marinated tofu and pickled veggies. The roll is toasted and their patio is next level. Service is quick and friendly, and down yhe street from Larkey Park if you want to picnic

Really happy that I can come to the Market when I need a vegan turkey sandwich fix! The Beach Club is my go-to! I also recently tried the salads like a chopped salad and a spring herb salad and both were delicious. My favorite pastry is the concha - not dry at all! My only suggestion is I wish they would carry Rebel Cheese that we can buy from the market or be able to buy the Prime Roots vegan turkey. I've seen Rebel cheese being sold at Anchor Pantry in Vallejo and would love to be able to buy some nearby in Walnut Creek.

I've been hearing lots of good things about this place so I finally got the opportunity to try it out! We came for lunch & it wasn't overly packed, thankfully. Lots of healthy snacks for purchase, as well as some premade to-go items like sandwiches & salads. I say some, because the fridge sections were pretty wiped out of premade meals. Their menu isn't huge, but they definitely had some yummy-sounding options, & I love that everything is plant-based! It's a bit over priced, in my opinion, which makes me feel like non-vegans will think this is the normal price of vegan food (I promise it's not!). I get it's Walnut Creek & the economy sucks, but $17+ for a simple vegan sandwich is insane... We ordered the BLAT & the Banh Mi, along with a small strawberry lemonade. The total was close to $40, & then we went to sit on their adorable outdoor patio. The strawberry lemonade was mainly strawberry puree, no real tartness. The BLAT was a bit burnt, & apparently cut up my friend's mouth. But it sounded like the flavor was good! Personally, I've never had avocado on a banh mi before, & thought I've tried much better ones before. Overall, it's a cute little place, but I'd come back only to try something else when I bring my husband along. Maybe we just picked the wrong items.

The Market on Larkey and Rooted are no longer owned by the same people. I have been a huge supporter of Rooted for years and go multiple times a week. The staff are amazing and kind and well trained. I want to support The Market on Larkey the same way now that they are independent and the owners are amazing and have been nothing but kind to my family for years. The food at the Market is delicious. The conchas are my favorite and the BLAT is my go to! I would definitely come here more for the food, BUT for some reason the staff here are the most unfriendly people, it's night and day from their previous business, Rooted. I figured it was maybe a one time thing, but the more I go, the more blank stares and just aloofness I get from the girls working. It makes me question if it's worth going, having to deal with their uncomfortable behavior. Today the girl at the counter barely could be bothered to take my order, and then she suddenly raised her voice loudly and discussed with a coworker about how amazing the steak she had was for the holidays. I understand non vegans work here, but being aware of your brand is also a skill they should have. I am always very careful of negative reviews of fully vegan places, since as a vegan, I want them to have every possible chance to succeed and the food is top notch. But I can't get over the poor attitudes and teenage mean girl personas the staff has.

As someone who is not vegetarian, the food was delicious! I especially enjoyed the breakfast sammy which was served warm with pickled veggies. The scone was also tasty!

The market by rooted has become our go to spot on weekends for a quick pick-me-up or to load up on pastries for the following week. Their baked goods are scrumptious, their matcha latte is delicious and the people who work there are some of the nicest staff you'll encounter anywhere. You wouldn't think a place hidden in a residential neighborhood could churn out the highest quality of food but the market by rooted exceeds all expectations.

    lemon matcha

i ordered the lemon zest matcha seasonal drink after seeing it on social media and it was such a disappointment. i stopped buying matcha drinks from cafes because they always taste like milk or water--not like matcha--and that was the case here too. you could tell from the color it wasn't going to taste like matcha, AND there was no lemon flavor either. minimal at best. the orangecicle smoothie was ok. chalky but passable.

The Beach Club is maybe the most magical cold vegan sandwich I've ever had. Holy cow, I am blown away. This spot is a total neighborhood jewel.

It doesn't make sense that only 1 or 2 check out lanes are open during the day on a weekend. There have been occasions where I'm waiting over 10-15 minutes in line because there's a hold up with a customer in the front. The self check-out has a long line because a couple of the kiosks are down. The Express check-out lane is not even open, which is silly as most people have less than 5 items in their cart. Hopefully they'll improve on the check out situation as that would boost customer satisfaction... I'm just saying! :) Aside from the long lines, this location seems well-stocked, nicely lit, and has decent parking in their lot. It does feel like a smaller Safeway location than most others I've been to, but it gets the job done.

I am not a big fan of Safeway in general. Among the reasons for this is that the store employees…read moreare rarely available to assist, and when they are, they almost always simply direct customers to the aisle they think the item they are looking for should be on. I miss the days when they would actually walk with customers to the exact spot and show them the item. My experience this past weekend was particularly egregious. I tried using a Safeway raincheck that been issued to me when salmon fillets were on sale and they were out of stock at the store I went to. After selecting the fillets and waiting in line to check out, I showed the cashier the raincheck. The cashier looked at the raincheck and told me that they could not accept it because it had been issued at a different store. She referred to the store number on the raincheck. I have several thoughts about this interaction. 1) Not a single Safeway customer knows the store number of any of the stores they shop at. They might have a preferred store close to home, but most customers probably shop occasionally at a different Safeway near work or a friend's or elsewhere. 2) Not only does the raincheck not say anything about only being accepted only at the store where it was issued; it lists 12 partner stores that should also accept it! Safeway's own policy (https://www.safeway.com/foru/coupon-policy.html - see #25) clearly states that rainchecks will be accepted at any Albertsons banner store that has the specific item in stock. 3) Even setting all of this aside, I was in disbelief that the cashier would prefer to have the salmon (that, for what it is worth, had been packaged a couple days earlier and had to be sold soon) continue sitting out rather than purchased by a customer. If you have any decent alternative, I would avoid this Safeway entirely.

The store was clean, well-organized, fresh food, and easy to shop. I was able to find everything I needed without any issues, and the overall atmosphere was pleasant. What really stood out to me was the customer service. I was shopping with my 4-year-old daughter, who is currently learning and practicing her communication skills. She loves talking to people, asking their names, and making conversation when we're out. When we were checking out, Julie and Aurora were incredibly kind and patient with her. One of them was helping us at the register while the other was working nearby, and despite how busy the store was, they both took the time to engage with my daughter. She asked one of them her name, shared her age, and when she found out the employee had a little boy close to her age, she excitedly asked if she could see a picture. The employee happily showed her a photo, which I thought was such a sweet and genuine moment. Everyone we interacted with was friendly, welcoming, and patient. As a parent, I always appreciate people who take a moment to be kind to children, especially when they're learning how to interact with others and build confidence. Thank you, Julie and Aurora, for making our visit such a positive experience. Great customer service like that truly stands out.

I parked all the way at the very end far from the store so people who are less able to walk can get closer parking (common courtesy). As I did that I went into Whole Foods to shop for groceries but also had to pick up an order from Paris baguette which is next door. When the Whole Foods KAREN(mind you this was and old white male who works at Whole Foods) tells at me to move my car and that I can't pick something up from across the way after I shopped at Whole Foods. He said it's not my problem move your car! Literally yelling at me in front of everyone!!! How embarassing. Meanwhile I saw a family of 4, another women and another group of people park their car, not go into Whole Foods and went to Paris baguette to sit and eat there while parking in the Whole Foods parking spot and they didn't get yelled at to move their car-he allowed them to and I physically witnessed them drive in from the Main Street park their car and walk across the way to a different store and NOT Whole Foods! This is absolute discrimination of color clearly because I'm not Caucasian he decided to yell at me and not tell the other group of people to move it! I at least shopped at Whole Foods so this was just ridiculous! I've shopped at the Lafayette Whole Foods the Walnut Creek one on ygnacio and the ones in SF never have I been treated this way.
