The gentleman who assisted me was polite and helpful. He did advise me that they have a "no pass, no pay" policy which is a great feature. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The $50 fee is comparable to the prices of the competitors.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I fortunately did pass and was on my way within 15 minutes or so. The location is a down side to this business that I wasn't aware of until visiting. There is a driveway for this business that is the service area which fronts a main street. The driveway area is really small, and if someone is already there when you arrive, there is not a clearly discernable place to wait for your turn. I did have an appointment, but arrived a few minutes early, and had to find an area next to the car that was being serviced. This business shares a parking area/shallow driveway with a couple of other businesses in the same low strip building that fronts the street, and their driveway areas were full. Some signage would have been helpful that directs you where to wait. Since I am new to town I assume that locals already know the deal here with businesses in this area and that is why it wasn't mentioned. I figured I would add that information for anyone who isn't familiar with the area and who might benefit from this! read more

I was in a pinch to get my car smogged before next week and like most people I commute into town so I try to beat traffic coming home. I found Hollister smog as it was open until 5:30pm and not that far from my house. I rushed over and the owner/smog technician was amazing. He was very helpful and knowledgeable with the smog request. The best part was he was super friendly and charismatic. What I thought would be a chore, was actually fun. The gentleman was singing along to the songs on his radio wile still engaging with me in conversation. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Smog is pretty much a flat rate price so it's hard to try and negotiate but the price was fair.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] From my experience this owner now has a repeating customer who will bring all 4 of his cars to when the time comes for a smog. Brought in my old 91 Ford for smog. It has passed every year but not this time. The guys did everything they could to help with the one item that did not pass but to no avail! As far as I've known this guy really is top notch he's here to smog cars and go home. Always smiling even when cars are backed up. Parking is difficult as there is only room for two big autos or three small but park close by and walk in and let him know your their and he will get you in. He doesn't flash check anything for the scofflaws, he will check everything he is supposed to and fails the polluters and modification crowd. Don't be upset you knew what you were doing when you did it. He's just doing his job! Can't say any think but good things here he has my business til I move out of state and put smog behind me. This place is great! It's just one guy and all he does is smogs! Wait wasn't too long, my car was 2nd to be done. I needed a smog check. It was late in the day. I came in at 5.45 and the technician was working on another car ahead of me. I thought I would probably have to come back another day. To my surprise let me know he would work on my car after he finished the one he was working on. He finished with that one in about five minutes and then worked on mine. I got out of there at about 6:10. The technician was polite, quiet and all action. I highly recommend this place. This has been the most prompt most polite with the best price smog station that I have used. I am coming here again the next time. I left one satisfied customer! :-) read more

They weren't open at 10 as posted, but arrived within the half hour. Took all of 15 minutes, tech was friendly and fast. Pulled in, was hooked up in no time , places to sit while waiting if desired and very little extra parking.
