Happy to contribute another 5 star review for Holloway Air Systems. A week ago another air conditioner company inadvertently broke my upstairs unit and tried to sell me a new one for $13,000.00. We said something that translates to goodbye to those guys and invited Holloway to bid on replacing our broken unit. I called Holloway at 8:30 am on Saturday 6/9. By 9:30 am I got a call back with the promise of a technician between 1:00 pm and 3:00 pm. I received a confirmation text message. At 10:45 am I got a call from the technician who said he was running ahead of schedule and wanted to know if it would be OK if he came by at 11:30 am. Of course that was great news and I agreed. Shortly there after I received another text letting me know the appointment had been moved up. 11:30 am on the dot the doorbell rang. Our Holloway technician had arrived. I invited him in and he inspected the unit and determined that the compressor had expired. I asked for quote and was given a very reasonable one based on my research. The technician excused himself so that I could consider the offer and decide if I wanted to proceed. When he returned I authorized the service and we set an appointment for the next Tuesday. As soon as the technician left I received an email with a PDF of the quote and text with the confirmation of the appointment. Three hot, sleepless nights later Holloway returned at the agreed upon time and installed the new air conditioner. The install took most of the day but the two technicians dispatched on the job did a great job and cleaned after themselves. I will share my full experience to be fair. As a new home owner one of the first things that broke down was my AC. The system was the original and found Holloway Air Systems through yelp. The reviews were great, the price was great if I paid in cash so we moved forward with a new system. The owner, Christian was great at first, initial install was great, very friendly and his employees as well. All was great at first until a couple months go by. Every time my furnace turned on to heat my home the furnace would make a popping sounds, I called the first time and they came and fixed it. Within a week after they fixed it the popping turned into an explosion so loud it shook my home every time the furnace turned on. The owner came by personally to fix the problem personally, and soon after he left the problem went back to shaking my home. I called back and he said he needed to order the part, called again and said the part was back ordered. Called at least 2 times per month and no response for over a year. FOR A YEAR MY FURNACE SOUNDED LIKE IT WAS GETTING READY TO BLOW MY WHOLE HOUSE APART. and for a year i got excuses about a part that didn't exist since I called Trane myself. It wasn't until I threatened to escalate the matter that they decided to replace my unit 1 year later. The replacement was brand new but the installation of the replacement unit was very sloppy. They also gave me the run around the day of the install and tried installing a unit that was smaller than the one they initially installed. Great at the beginning but very dishonest, very unprofessional, and very sloppy down the road. read more

I found Holloway Air Systems after a bad experience with another HVAC company. My AC system was original from 1988 and every time Holloway came out they performed the necessary maintenance. They never tried to push anything else. They told me to continue to swap filters and perform seasonal maintenance. So it was only a given I would use Christian and his team when I needed a new system. The replaced the ducts, condenser and furnace. Called 3 HVAC vendors and Holloway Air Systems was the only one available to come out the following day. The other 2 wanted to schedule me for next week and was I not willing to wait that long with temps in the 100's. I was given a 2 or 3 hour window for appt time, but got a courtesy call from them saying they were going to be an hr late. The problem was that the unit was not blowing cool air. The unit is fairly new (Goodman - 4yrs old) and was installed by the Richmond developers. Christian came out and diagnosed the problem to be the capacitor. Our original deal was to replace the capacitor for $295 parts and labor. He later suggested adding a start up set with the capacitor for an additional $125. Not knowing much of AC units and wanting to get out of this terrible heat, I went with the capacitor and startup kit for $420 which also included a 5 year warranty. Christian informed that during the warranty lifetime he would be able to service the unit but and noting that I would have to pay a $79 service fee. Took him less than 20 min to make the fix and was fortunate that he had a capacitor with him in the truck. After 10 mins, I started feeling the cool air. I had no issues with Christian; he was professional and provided some education with AC units. I would defiantly use them again for future repairs and service. For Yelpers: If your gut tells you the capacitor is shot and have patience waiting of a repair person, I recommend comparing prices with other competitors. read more
