This company is not for your average middle class consumer, maybe more for the wealthy? I don't know, but as military family we are certainly not rich enough to use them. The company I use to use went out of business so I picked this company to try out since it's a Riverside local and I've seen their billboard in town. Initial call was for regular summer maintenance and their employee Adrian was nice and informative but did say I had a problem with my mini split that would require a follow up service call. Fast forward to this week. Jesse (also nice employee - no beef there) came out and said he could not determine issue with mini split under the service call ($75) and so he'd have to call the AC manufacturer and talk with them to discover the problem. This would be an advanced diagnostic and a fee of $230 AND I was warned that if he was on hold for a long time it would still charge by the hour and it could be up to $400+ just for him to be on the phone!!! WILD. Luckily he got through in a decent amount of time and during that that diagnostic with the manufacturer on the phone he said I needed a new condensation pump at a whopping $892. I could swallow a $1000 bill (while dying inside) so of course agreed to it, completely my choice. After that fix however the AC was not blowing cold so then he said it needed a leak detection test at $455. So from that diagnostic (are you counting this will be the 3rd diagnostic during the same day!) he said he found 4 flares leaking and to fix them and top of the refrigerant lost I was looking at approximately $1,598 MORE- this is where I finally decided to stop the madness and decline further service. I would be at near $3k to fix a mini split that was less than 5 years old! Granted this company did not do initial install but O-M-G for these prices it was halfway to buying a new one!! They did in the end take off $233 from the final bill because I had signed up for their maintenance club membership on the initial call but after I use my last regular cleaning service from them in the winter I will no longer be using this company. So 1 star for having amazing friendly technicians but minuses all the other stars for the absolutely ridiculous diagnostic charges that don't even go towards the cost of repair and for my air conditioner still not working close to $1400 dollars later. read more

The AC crapped out again. This time we saw what failed in real time as we stood outside and heard the thing TRY to turn on then off, then on then off.... Called Magnolia on a Sunday evening and a fellow who turned out to be our favorite Tech, Ken, arrived on Monday. But the thing worked when Ken arrived. Nonetheless, Ken searched in and out, again and again, could not find the problem. That's the nature of an intermittent problem. Based on our testimony about the thing cycling on and off and on, Ken diagnosed the problem and we got it fixed. Thankfully. Will always call Magnolia again and ask for Ken. read more

Hugo came over and helped us by installing a transfer switch to our solar panels. What this does, is allows us to draw power directly from the panels in case of an extended brown out or power outage. Hugo was kind, professional, and knowledgeable and even gave a tutorial once he was finished so I'd have a handle on how to operate the transfer switch once the time comes. We heard the dreaded words no homeowner wants to hear: "You need an entirely new air-conditioning system." That immediately caused a lot of anxiety, but after meeting Bobby, we quickly felt more at ease. He took the time to explain the different systems available and worked with us honestly and professionally as we discussed pricing. After some respectful back-and-forth, he spoke with his boss and came back with an exceptional deal -- including crediting us $2,000 for a motor repair we had paid for the previous year. What company does that anymore? In the end, we chose Magnolia because of how straightforward, honest, and professional Bobby and his boss were with us throughout the entire process. Bobby was also the first person to recommend adding a whole-house air purification system. After we made our decision, we met Steve, the engineer who designed our system layout. Steve was brilliant, extremely knowledgeable, and very communicative. He carefully evaluated our home, explained why he recommended the particular system we ended up purchasing, and took the time to fully explain how the air purification system worked and why he felt it was worth the investment. Once everything was scheduled, our next concern was the installation itself. We knew people would be crawling through attics, closets, and every nook and cranny of our home for several days. We spent the weekend worrying about the disruption, especially because my wife has respiratory problems. By Monday, though, much of that stress disappeared when we met Miguel, the lead installer. Miguel was extremely professional, polite, and communicative. Every morning he clearly explained exactly what would happen that day, and over the entire three-day installation he was always on time and did exactly what he promised. The demolition phase worried us the most because of dust and air quality, but Miguel took several extra precautions to keep dust to an absolute minimum and thoroughly cleaned everything afterward. That attention to detail meant a lot to us. The installation itself went very smoothly. The crew was professional, efficient, and clearly very experienced. You can always tell when a company treats its employees well -- the installers were actually singing while they worked. They were happy, worked hard, and moved quickly. When everything was finished on Wednesday, Miguel carefully walked us through the filters, thermostat, and condenser operation so we fully understood the new system. Then came the real test: several 95-degree days. With our old system, we had to start cooling the house around 8:00 in the morning just to have a chance of staying under 80 degrees by late afternoon -- and even then it struggled while running nonstop all day. With the new system, we didn't even turn it on until noon, and it cooled the house quickly and cycled on and off normally for the rest of the afternoon. It was obvious this was the right-sized system for our home. Looking back, adding the whole-house air purification system was absolutely the right choice. My youngest daughter has already commented that she no longer wakes up with a stuffy nose. Magnolia wasn't the absolute cheapest quote we received, but they were very competitive. Had an issue where we were concerned about a possible clog. Patrick came out and serviced our unit thoroughly, and cleared the clog. Our unit was 24 years old, and had some issues. We opted to get a quote on a new unit. Bobby came a couple days later and clearly presented our options. We opted to replace with a heat pump system. Our quote was responsible and they were able to come out within a week. Michael and his crew were fabulous. Got us installed and running in one day (although we had planned for at least two days). A few months ago, my AC was not working properly, I called a service company and they sent a technician here to run diagnostics. The tech told me that my AC is done and I need a new unit around $25,000. I then called Magnolia for a second opinion, Ken showed up and checked everything. I got a quote for $2,500:) and Ken fixed the unit in a couple of hours. I signed up for the membership program because of the excellent job Ken did. Today Andy shows up to do the scheduled maintenance, he is a Pro, replacing a 20 years old starter and my unit is working like a charm. We have been using Magnolia for about five years now, mostly for routine maintenance on our HVAC. I especially like that when they clean the coils on the AC condenser unit, the tech pulls the fan off and power washes the coils from the INSIDE OUT, which is the proper way to do it. We also had Magnolia reconfigure our duct work to make the system easier to service. The new work looks great and the tech cleaned up the area completely after finishing the project. read more

In February, I had Kirk come out to do a six month maintenance. They had a really good offer basically two maintenance visits for the price of one and the second time six months later I had Diego come out, as a homeowner. You always want the best and the best of quality work. Diego took his time. Usually you have people in and out with in 15 minutes to an hour.
