Of an early Thursday afternoon I experienced very unprofessional issue with a seamstress while bringing in three items for alterations. First when I just open the door of her place and stepped insid, she told me that i would have wai, because she is eatin, on what my response was OK, sure...so after couple of minutes passed, her daughter-co-worker stepped in and i started to explaining her what I wanted to be done with my clothe...she told me that it would cost &18-20 to do it, but when her mother came back to the room, I asked her the same question about the price, just to clarify on what she immediately told that it's going to cost me $30-35 after my confrontation to her, she said that a have beautiful BURBERRY coat and couldn't afford to pay for her work...really?!... ...then, she was deny work on the first item (winter parka for my 5 year old daughter) by stating that it was too labor-intensive and recommended that I undertake the alterations myself. For the second item, (pair of pants), she agreed to perform the alteration but quoted a price that was $12-17 more than her coworker told just a 2 minutes prayer, when her mother was eating in the other room ...really?!... ...and when I asked about altering the third item (another pair of pants), she told me, that she would agreed to work on my clothes, if I accepted her hourly rate of $45-50 ... really?!... This all was followed from previous conversation the day before where she declined to clean my wool coat due to her specialization in tailoring and alterations and not on cleaning clothing she makes me feel like I am somewhere in china, where people taking advantage of your time and money by judging you by your looks and dress choices NEVER EVER I would bring my business there and would definitely don't recommend anyone go there and become a discriminated like I was read more

Bad costumer service. I had a very simple request: let the body of my coat in 2" and give me an estimated price. For starters, there was nobody at the front desk when I arrived, as the clerk was across the street shopping. After waiting for several minutes, I was asked to put the coat on and was then physically pushed in front of the mirror (not cool!) She told me that I needed to have the shoulders and sleeves altered as well, and that I should return the coat because it was too big! I find it incredibly condescending for a tailor to tell me what it is that I should have done with my clothing. She should really just do the thing that I asked for and leave her opinions to herself. I had seven pants I needed hemming done and found Holly Cleaners and Alterations on Yelp! The nice woman who owns/manages the shop said it's been in her family for some years and she has continued running the establishment. I like supporting family-run businesses. I was able to get my pants back the following week and as-promised, all the pants were hemmed using the same color thread. Not all places get this right as some use generally the same color thread but one can see the difference up close. The work was done well and I paid about $15 a pair. Not cheap, but not expensive either for the work. I will be back in the future for additional services. read more

I wish I had not gone here. Quynh is very rude and insulting toward women. She insulted my beautiful dress multiple times and then did not even tailor it to my liking. She thinks she knows better than me... She was just mad that I did not want to get things done that she could charge more for. She is very unprofessional, she said she was going to dry clean and she actually gets it dry cleaned by the liquor store next door. It is very cheap but she will charge you more for it. She is very rude to female customers but flirts with her male clientele. I wished I had gone somewhere else for better quality but I wanted to support a local shop, but I DREADED seeing her! For example I brought heels (just the right inches I would wear but not the exact shoe). She insulted me multiple times saying I have to bring white shoes and she won't alter until that happens. What?? She also asked me if my fiancé was white because I'm engaged (WHAT??) I'll just go to Nordstrom like usually for anything else, would not recommend and she barely tailors the dress at all? She didn't tighter the top of the dress like I asked and made excuses for why...but she had no problem charging me $100+ for just shortening the length.. read more

I took my jean jacket to Queen to get some patches sewn on. As soon as I walked in she greeted me with a friendly smile and personality. I was explaining that I wanted to put patches on my jacket and rather than just slapping them where I wanted, she insisted on me putting the jacket on and making sure I was happy with how they would look. I wanted a patch stitched on a front pocket and she informed me that it would have to be sewn shut. She was going to open the pocket and stitch so I could still use the pocket, but she told me her thread would only be a 70% match to the original color so I left the decision up to her to just see through and close the pocket. I got 5 patches sewn on, plus one of her custom made face masks (which is now my favorite face mask) and the total was extremely reasonable. Her thread colors were such an amazing match to the colors on the patches. This is my new go to place for getting any more patches out on or alterations. read more

Our family went to different alteration places in the Peninsula for more than a decade until 4 years ago when our daughter stumbled on this place to get her prom dress altered. Sure enough she was so happy how her gown turned out. She raved how nice Quien was and how awesome she's done her work. I was intrigued by my daughter's enthusiasm cause she's usually critical, so I brought my clothes, including this particular fave pants that has "ambitious" alteration need. To say the least, I was Wowed by Quien's work which spelled Perfection. I was really, especially, impressed what she did the way she fixed my fave "ambitious" fashionable pants. I was thrilled! She charged $70 to hem my bridesmaid dress. A different tailor in San Carlos (less than 10 minutes away) quoted me $150 for the same job. I got my dress back in one week. She gave me a friendly call to pick it up at my earliest convenience. The hemming across all 3 layers of the dress was perfectly aligned. The length was exactly what I wanted. It was dark cream color and I was so mad since hardly found these pant. I asked for the money that I paid for this pants which it was not that much but they refused to pay me . I bought a "little black dress" from Macy's and since I'm short and all dresses go below my knee I brought it in for a quick length alteration. Quyen (I'm probably spelling it wrong) not only listened to what I wanted but showed me how the dress didn't fit here, there and everywhere correctly. I came to Quinn for an alteration. Quinn is very friendly and clearly gets along well with her regulars. My only complaint is that when I picked up my skirt the next week, there was a stray thread leftover from sewing the new seam on one side, and the inside seam was slightly visible at the top on the other side. These are small fixes that Quinn was able to tuck in quickly once I pointed them out, but I am disappointed she didn't notice at least the stray thread end when she was finishing up that seam. read more

Unfortunately, I had to get a dress hemmed 24 hours before a wedding. I had to pay $40 for the short notice. I picked up the dress without checking or trying it on. During the ceremony, I noticed the front wasn't hemmed although the back was. I don't know if the tread came out or what happened but by the time I made it to the dance floor I was stepping on the dress:( I wanted to take it back but had to fly back to LA the next morning. read more

0 STARS IF POSSIBLE So the lady who runs this place seems nice. The first time I went here she did an alright job tailoring my suits. The Jacket was nice but the pants were never brought in, just hemmed at the bottom. I even told her i didnt like my last tailor and was looking for someone who can tailor/alter suits on a regular basis: as I wear them daily and my work is strenuous on the suits. After this visit I would give her 2 stars, she did an alright job (better than my last tailor) but it was pricey and she told me to come in a week and a half later - when I did she told me they still werent ready yet!! I reluctantly tired them again, two suits just like last time. For the convenience of them being right down the street. Told them I need my suits super slim/tight. Hoping that they would fix the pants unlike last time. She again tells me "dont worry, I do very good job" & "you give me time you be very happy" So i gave her the same amount of time (more than a week for two suits is ample time). Upon pickup - Same outcome of the suits, I tried on the jacket but was in a hurry so couldnt try the pants, I told her I would try on at home and come back if needed. When it came time to paying which she didnt give me an estimate like the last time she spoke to her partner in Vietnamese and told me it would be $250 but to be nice she give me a discount of $10 off. ARE YOU F***ING SERIOUS?!?!? TWO SUITS FOR $240?!?!? She said "you know we work very hard, we do a lot for you" "spent lots of time, very hard work". I argued but since in a hurry had to pay and leave, told her I would call if it didn't fit. As far as trying on the pants; again never altered, just hemmed. It looked like I was walking around with a diaper on underneath. I called the next day, phone disconnected as if they were out of business. Once I got a hold there was nothing they could do. Talk about a Ripoff, never again will I support a business that doesnt understand a good consumer/seller relationship. And if you charge an arm and a leg for your work a. Inform the customer with an estimate as oppossed to blindsiding them & b. If you dont produce quality work (like these guys) be prepared to fix your work until the customer is satisfied. Word of advice STAY AS FAR AWAY AS YOU CAN AND DONT FALL FOR THEIR SMOKE AND MIRRORS BS!! read more

This place should get negative stars for alterations. I am a large guy who works out a lot, so I have to buy larger shirts to fit my shoulders. Then have the rest tailored. I have brought 10-12 shirts to be tailored here, and I always have to bring them back to get redone 2 or 3 times because the super argumentative lady in the front never listens to me. She's too stubborn to take a shirt that fits and replicate the size on another shirt. Sometimes when I ask for minor adjustments to be done the first time, she continuously argues with me saying that I shouldn't do it. Such a pain in the ass. I should have quit coming here a long time ago. Most recently, I took three shirts up there to get the sleeves shortened. One shirt came back with a sleeve longer then the other. I could tell when I put the shirt on and also folded the shirt to be sure. I go back up there yet again to take the shirt back to get redone. Her and the other woman tried to show me that the sleeves were the same length, when clearly they were not. The measurement was off by a half inch, at least. I am so done with this place. There are too many other tailors who are easier do deal with and do MUCH better work. I highly recommend that you go to one of those places instead read more
